    • RE: The 100: The Mush

      Good community.

      Poor Leadership.

Not the first time, won't be the last. Until people start realizing this is the status quo for the dynamic duo it'll continue. Not bad people, just not people who should try to run something single handed. But this is their MO and has been for years upon years. Eventually the community will learn.

      J/K, the community won't learn.

Yeah... wrap your minds around that shit.

The flipside Demeanor however is how long can a staffer 'Enjoy' the environment if they can't participate in it. Everytime I find myself 'pitching in' interest starts to wane. I'm a very strict if I'm playing on a game I don't allow my characters to really do too much because I want to heavily avoid the perception of self-favoritism etc. So the social RP goes for awhile but I do find burnout comes faster when I'm not able to push characters. I know it sounds weird but I'm a person that likes goals and growht for a character; which is doable without being a snowflake. But I don't want to do it for myself either because that's weird and people often take the perspective that if you're staff, you can just do it for yourself.

Honestly it's a no win situation. Staff and play a character that can do things, and be judged. Or staff and player a character that doesn't do things, and be bored.

    • The Black Company

Just started rereading these books. Would a theme placed in this setting, or a similar garner interest? For those not aware it is a fantasy setting based around a mercenary group. I could see it being run as a political/combat heavy game focused on said Mercenary Group following various campaigns through a 'new land'.

    • RE: Cheap or Free Games!

The lack of demos is purposeful; as is early access 'rewards'. Companies are trying to hook people in to spending the $$$ before the product can be fully evaluated. I got suckered by SWBF myself because of nostalgia.

As for why Fallout 4 was less than stellar (with the caveat for myself), I could have given two shits about the characters so there was no investment. I was about maybe 6 hours in and just leaned back in the chair and thought; I could care less if these people die. IN fact I kind of think they deserve what they get. Turned it off and moved on with life.

    • RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?

It really is. Running the game has been a blast, the core mechanics are straightforward enough to dive in and the world/setting lend itself to true adventures. It can be dark and gritty or light hearted and goofy pending the mood of the GM.

    • RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?

@Ominous it's a good system. The magic can get a little cumbersome. However I've found d20 leveling to be a bit troublesome for mu due to power creep between new and old players

    • RE: Star Trek Adventures Thoughts

Having read through ST:A I had the same initial thoughts as well. I thought it was poorly put together and had no interest in playing.

I still haven't played, proving that my initial instincts are in fact correct. Don't do things.

But it's interesting to see feedback from someone who started where I was but enjoy it. So I'm going to go ahead and read through the book again I think just to see if my position on it changes. I would love to see a good ST table top that I could sink my teeth into rather than a custom Cortex+ system my circle has used.

I don't know if Darkest Dungeon will work, I know they have ipad version though. If it does, that's a great investment.

    • RE: FFG Star Wars?

FFG is so narrative that it's fantastic, if you have a playerbase that can be mature in the results of rolls and story telling this system is a wonderful one.

Then again, MU people and mature...

    • RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check

Of course it takes time to make a game.

Just like it takes time to do anything else. At the end isn't that the whole crux? Is it worth your investment of time to make a game that may or may not flop horribly (and let's be honest probably will?)

IMO one of the flaws that takes place in this community is not enough planning and design go into the game itself, and too much throwing shit against a wall and hoping it sticks does.

It takes time to make a game.

But a chunk of it is probably wasted time due to poor execution and time management. In the end; I still believe too many games have no plans. This whole thread in fact is a result of a discussion about another game which from the posts there seem to indicate it has no plan beyond existing.

I think that's my drive. I want a game that has something more to it then it exists.

    • RE: The Basketball Thread

@arkandel said in The Basketball Thread:

Hot take: Lebron could take an Eastern Conference team consisted of myself, the guy who drove my bus this morning, the cashier at the Tim Horton's around the corner and my cat to the NBA Finals.

      Addendum: In the Eastern Conference.

The Eastern Conference is like 7th Grade B-Team Basketball vs. Varsity of the West.

Breath of Wild for Switch is (imo) a must. Not a full RPG but definitely enough elements to scratch the itch.

    • RE: Who are you?

I am a white male that grew up as the only person of his race in High School. (I grew up on a Native American Reservation)

I play 9 instruments, have been a professional musician, in 5 musicals, but cannot sing to save my life.

I have been hit while walking by cars 3 times and did not even get more than a bruise from any of them despite cracking the windshield with my body all three times.

I have won national math competitions in my youth but no longer can do basic algebra.

My eyes change colors daily and seldom match each other.

I believe Thomas Malthus was right, just about 200 years too early.

      @Thenomain

I agree. I keep hoping our community will adapt a bit. Then again it may be as simple as being firm in saying this game is narrative and meant to be it may not be everyone's cup of tea

Imo. The tiny rule set is where mush developers should look first if they're going to have dice in their game.

Another great system coming out I think is spectaculars. It's based on dusk city outlaws which is a fun game also and with looking at.
