The little things my partner's job does as little bonuses for their employees. They bought passes to an amusement park for all their employees and their spouses. So tomorrow I'm going for a day of roller coasters, water slides and funky shows on his company's dime.

RE: Posting Ads on Games
I've never understood the vehemence against posting ads or requiring an ad trade. Sure, an ad trade is just good form. But sometimes to get word of mouth, you need people. An ad on a game, especially of the same genre, is the easiest way to get people. I get word of mouth and such but you need something going to HAVE decent word of mouth.

RE: We Need a Game Set In the Roman Empire.
@Cupcake
It went everywhere. They went to Ireland, Egypt, Israel, Mesopotamia, all kinds of places. The Roman army was a big deal in later seasons of Xena, near the end. -
RE: RL Anger
I want to scream. This morning my laptop started going insane. I haven't lost my data (thank god), but it doesn't want to do much beyond start and lag. IE uninstalled itself. Chrome crashed and when trying to uninstall it, it won't reinstall.
It was an old laptop anyway, and I had the spare cash, so I went and bought a new one. Nothing fancy, but good for what I need it for (and bonus, it has a better video setup so doing some stuff like gaming will be a little easier) But god damn it, I hate Windows 8.1 so far. I really like the interface in 7 and hope I can hack 8.1 or 10 to look and function like 7.

RE: NO-GO IPs for MU*
@GangOfDolls
There's also a point of allowance. WW's setting is MADE for the whole 'derivative' thing, as it's an RPG. Settings that are only works of fiction are not. They also have only primarily, recently, went after people posting/using the actual IP (like the subnet posting entire swathes of material on a website, or the Bloodlines remake Project Vaulderie) and infringing on that, which they HAVE to defend at that point, lest they have no leg to stand on when @Thenomain writes 'Planet of Cloudy Grayness'. -
RE: RL Anger
People who are bitchy about 'fairweather friends' and 'not responding to requests to hang out' when YOU DON'T FOLLOW UP ON IT AT ALL. And when you see some people tagged on FB that are going to do something that was mentioned to you elsewise, and we were planning to invite you but NOT AT MIDNIGHT because YOU WORK AT 6am, and then you post something at 7am about it before we can get in touch with you.
ARGH.

RE: NO-GO IPs for MU*
I'm weird in that I never liked Robotech as itself as a kid, though I love Macross (I know, the Macross portion of Robotech was the least changed, but it's still weird to me).
It'd be an interesting exercise though, depending on how you ran it. I could see the BSG 'Robotech fleet' of like, colonization as in the later Macross entries working, with an unknown/staff-run enemy, like the Vajra or Protodeviln, working well.

I'm hoping it doesn't have a happy ending where Kira gets back to her own timeline.
It looks like it could go either way. It's difficult to talk about without spoiling it for people who aren't caught up.
OH GOD SOMEONE ELSE WATCHES CONTINUUM?!?!?!?!?! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

RE: PC antagonism done right
I think the person who talked about people not being able, or willing, to 'lose' when faced with an opposition or antagonist is one of the core problems. Especially when it's not a factionalized game. People want to have only the good things, not the bad things.

Also, getting the deal I was hoping for on new space for the LARP since we're trying to move away from campus.

RE: PC antagonism done right
@Arkandel
Yeah, that's the thing. Finding something that works. I come from a MU* history and game history where failure is just... part of the story. It may close one road, but other roads open and spread out from it. -
RE: Good or New Movies Review
Finally watched Mad Max: Fury Road.
Was very pleased with it. -

For what it's worth, I think that's an awesome idea. -

Realizing you fucked something up, and, in addition to already piling onto your stress about something, may have cost you a friend.

RE: Suitable system for a gritty fantasy game
@Kairos
Honestly, if you're doing gritty, low-fantasy, why not just come up with something simple rather than try to use an existing RPG which may have more bells and whistles than you need?I'm a fan of the simple system in the OWoD Quickstarts. You have four stats: Physical, Mental, Social and Willpower. You have 7 Health. You have much simplified Disicplines and mechanics, as you roll d6s instead of d10s. You roll dice equal to <pool>; and in combat, each success is a level of damage, plus the damage rating of a weapon (1 or 2). Something like that could be used as a baseline, as there are rules for 'magic' in Thaumaturgy (fireball, flight, etc.) you could expand from. Requires minimal coding, and other than a potential higher damage output, magic-users aren't as more powerful as D&D, for example.
