@Bad-at-Lurking Even as much as 10 years ago, there was a lot of eyerolling and mockery for openly lesbian and gay characters.

RE: NaNoWriMo 2018
I'm giving it a shot. I kept telling myself I'd write an outline for a like ten chapter thing with five scenes per chapter and use that as a guideline (I didn't do that-- So I'll do that tomorrow, now that I've written the first page).
No one will EVER see it, because I'm taking one of my RP characters out that setting and plunking her down into a mostly-our-world setting. It's less for being able to share this particular story and breaking myself into finishing something that's more than 20-30k words.

RE: Games? Do they exist? Where?
@RDC said in Games? Do they exist? Where?:
@chibichibi How much of the game centers around the bureaucracy of mage-government? I like mage as an idea (on its own, not mixed with other games) but MU* mage tends to center around a certain group of players (usually Guardians of the Veil) who decide the theme of Mage is making sure nobody actually plays Mage, via charters with a hundred bylaws.
Quiet weeping my plots, my sphere, my funtimes....
Also someday I'll be making a character on @chibichibi's game.:)

@Cobaltasaurus mentioned the possibility hers miiight be it I think?I have no idea what I'm doing, if I'm doing anything. All I have right now is a GMC CG installed (and it presumably works) with the same code that Eldritch is using for it and nothing else (no theme, no setting, no life, no love. I do have a freaking awesome limbo tho.)
That said: Even if I were to do a single-sphere game it wouldn't very likely be at all like RfK. Since that game sounded basically like the antithesis of fun to me.

The Dog Thread
So we stop spamming poor @moth 's playlist thread. XD
@Darinelle @Paris @Kanye-Qwest have all pretty thoroughly brought me onto #TeamPyr. With a lot of GOOD information about Great Pyreness in @moth's playlist thread.
@Rucket is now challenging with pictures of adorable corgi's though...

A good rule of thumb is: If you don't have defense, you can't do something that would make you lose your defense.

RE: [Eldritch] Sphere Caps & Waiting Lists
If you're going to have sphere caps and waitlists you should just stick with first come first serve from the waitlist (that's what a waitlist is), and just make the number of people on the waitlist visible. In fact I'd say let people go through chargen and have their app waiting somewhere in a queue, so that as spots open up you can just approve people off of the waitlist.
Bob goes through chargen. Bob hits submit. Bob gets an @mail or a @pemit to him saying "You are number 300 on the waitlist, staff will check over your app when more spots open up".

RE: Grid building theory?
@Derp said in Grid building theory?:
This might work, but it also comes with its share of problems that might have to be addressed.
First, the look of the thing. Exits in two columns with their alias directly after them managed to still look clean, but on these, you're going to have to worry about the length of the actual exit name, the length of the alias (which is usually no more than 3 or 4 letters, so not a bit deal), and -then- the length of the short-desc, or else you're going to get into very unpretty things eventually. It might be more helpful to arrange them as a table, if you're doing a top-down list.
ETA: You should be worried about exit name whether you're doing columns or something else. If I remember correctly the exit parent on fallcoast (and ones that were used elsewhere) were actually set up so you'd have 3 columns, and would move down to 2 if an exit name was too long. I disagree that the names followed by aliases in columns look "clean". Sure, it's an easy enough system to follow, but that doesn't make it clean or pleasing to me.
It's a list of names. Sometimes those names are descriptive enough for me to follow what the building is, sometimes they aren't. Hell. Then you have the exits that are "old warehouse" or "dirt road" off of grid rooms that tell me absolutely nothing about where they lead. Which gets pretty infuriating when you're looking for something.
(True fact: I had to comb through fallcoast one night to try and find the mage hide out. I couldn't find it on grid because through the 10 million other builds, and finally resorted to the wiki.)
...which leads right into my terser, original point below.
Second, the number of exits in any one location could quickly become staggering in a list format and lead to a hell of a lot of spam. For instance:
----> +Views in this location <----------------------------------------------- Build Guide Twilight Network ----> Directions <------------------------------------------------------------ University City <W> Pigeon Hill <S> Commercial District <N> Historical Waterfront <E> ----> Exits <----------------------------------------------------------------- Out of Conetrol <OOC> Six Feet Under <SFU> Medical Examiner's Office <MEO> Flow Dynamics Gym <FDG> Von Braun Life Sciences <VBLS> Catholic Church <CC> WFRE Building <WFRE> CHIME Museum <MU> Waxen Wonderland <WW> Pay It Forward Pizzeria <PIF> Atlantica Mall <ATL> Public Library <PL> House of Spirits <HOS> Regus Tower <RT> Sinful Temptations <ST> Lockerbie Condominiums <LC> Lovelace Couturé <LOV> Uplifting <UL> Presbytery <PRE> Dippin Donuts <DD> Cavanaugh Design <CDG> Municipal Building <MB> Cavanaugh Building <CVB> =========================================================> IC Area - B02 <====
Derp, with all due respect, there shouldn't be that many things in one grid square. Or not all of those exits need to be public. That shit is spammy without having short-descs. This isn't a matter of "oh no too much because you added BLAH" that's a matter of "what the fuck are you people doing to your grid?"
Another grid square should have been made, or something should have been done about the exit parent long before that mess happened.

RE: Play-by-post analog to MUSoapbox
I'd probably be done for some sort of play-by-post game on here. Depending on the genre, rules, and stuff. Back in the day I used to do a lot, lot, lot of play by post. It's how I got into RP.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
All the Endgame stuff is starting to get on my nerves. On both sides of the fence. People who start jumping on otbers screaming "no spoilers" when someone just wants to say "it was good", are fucking annoying and immature.
People who purposefully spoil things for a super over hyped movie they are well aware people are super looking forward to are shitbirds.
Come on people. At the end of the day it's just a goddamned movie.

I think I tried Kushiel's Debut. Or some Kushiel game. The players weren't welcoming nor were staff. At least towards someone who has never read the books. I was gonna try it out because a friend was there.
I totally do not think it could have been KD. The players and staff there (there are two of them) are the most helpful, friendly bunch ever. My mind has been blown, seriously. It's probably been one of my best new-to-a-game experiences, right up there with Leading Edge, Redemption, and Second Pass.
I will second this. Every time I've gone to, or back to, KD the players have been incredibly friendly. Might have been Custodius / Zephyr's Kushiel game.

@JinShei You should also try cheering up. Maybe smile more? Cant you just get over it? It's all in your head after all. Just eat less.
You forgot somethingsomething gluten and weed is the new Jesus.
The worst I ever encountered was someone I only distantly knew messaging me to be like 'My husband's cousin had some medical condition and she went gluten free and it cured her so I totally think that it would cure you of your fibromyalgia!'
open mouth, unhinge jaw, devour person in a single gulp
spit out bones
No.
Being less weird but mildly still on the fibro/chronic illness topic. My apartment complex has an onsite gym (as well as pool), and while I haven't been going to pool all that often (I've gotten tired of washing chlorine out of my hair), I have started going to the gym every night (though I made last night my rest night b/c I was exhausted and could barely think by the time I went to bed).
I ache less and feel less bad in general for it. Afterward I feel so good. I wish I had the kind of habits where I could get up two hours before work and go to the gym before work to have those endorphins carry me through the day, but tbh I'm a lazy piece of garbage and also between the insomnia and fibromyalgia the older I get the harder it is for me to even get out of bed on time for work let alone early.

RE: TV as MUSH (aka mocking True Blood)
You people take things way too seriously.
Following @tragedyjones' lead here's some thoughts on Vampire Diaries as a MUSH
- No want, but one or two, players want to play the old "less attractive but still hot" adults (Alaric and their aunt that I now can't remember the name of).
- Queen Bee has a harem (Elena's love triangles with her mortal boyfriend and her two vampire boyfriends).
- Side characters tired of not being special (friend turns into a witch, friend gets turned into a vampire, friend becomes a werewolf, etc)
- What do you mean we're not supposed to like each other??? Vampires and wolves are fine! (Tyler and Caroline)
- Headstaff loves their Ultimate Evil NPC so much they make a spin-off game to keep playing him/them (The Originals spin off).
Shall I go on? >.>
