@cobaltasaurus I was directly replying to another poster, who was saying many people in this forum are soul-crushing nitpickers, which I agree with. It has nothing to do with @ZombieGenesis who, as you yourself point out, didn't announce a game. Stop this nonsense.

If you’re directly replying to someone try quoting them so people have context. However, having gone back to look at @Bad-at-Lurking ’s comments it STILL comes across as you casting shade on @ZombieGenesis for talking about a game that isnt fully formed.

@sunnyj You posted in a development thread saying “announcing games before they come out kills them”. @ZombieGenesis didn’t announce a game, he opened a development thread discussing what he wants to do and asking people for opinions and ideas.

@bad-at-lurking Announcing games here before they are at least 90% formed is a death sentence. I wish less people did it.

He didn't announce it, he's asking people their opinions and discussing the possibility of it. I'm super excited for it and hope he finishes his work!

    • RE: Where to jump back in?

@tragedyjones You could come try Calaveras out! It's basically any Adult Drama (Law & Order, True Detective, House, any crime or medical drama, etc) using FS3.

This isn't the place for old war stories probably, but holy shit was the one set in Vegas an actual dumpster fire.

Was that Let The End Times Roll? Heavens was the head ST crazy.

I popped on, seems like a nice crew so far. I'll give it a shot.

ETA: Jack and Sally were extremely patient and helpful with me as I worked through chargen. Believe it or not, I've never made it through an FS3 character gen before! Huzzah!

      Yay!

I am Briony, though will probably make something as well in the future to play with a friend. But I was impatient and wanted to try the game out. 😄

If anyone wants to hit me up as Briony, go for it!

      ❤

(Not sure if this should be in SITD or Ads, but since I'm not the game owner or staff this more of a personal "come play!" than a real ad for the place.)

@ZombieGenesis Pointed this place out in my "any modern day" games, and so I decided to check out. They just opened up, the staff is really nice, and they're using the FS3 system with a super easy chargen.

What is Calaveras? Calaveras is described by staff as an Adult Non-Fiction Drama Game. (I think non-fiction is the wrong term but I get where they're coming from). It's a game inspired by any of the fictional non-fantasy/sci-fi shows out there. Dramas, sitcoms, etc. Play the hardboiled cop with a drinking habit, or the nurse with nightmares, or the PTSD afflicted army very trying to readjust to civilian life.

There appears to be a starting focus on Cop/Parademic/Firefighter RP, but the idea is a game to create interpersonal adult dramas. Such as things like NYPD Blue, House, Law & Order, True Detective, The Killing, etc.

I'm giving it a shot because it looks interesting and a refreshing change of pace from WoD.

      Come check it out!

I can't comment on how active it is but there's this place http://calaveras.wikidot.com.

My wife and I have been searching for something to ever since Armageddon MUX went tits up. I've been tempted to dust off my Buffy code and see about getting something started there but I dunno. A good Modern Day MUX would be a cool find though.

I'm definitely looking at this and going to give a try. It seems like it could be really fun and a refreshing change from the usual WoD fare.

@zombiegenesis I'd honestly just go with that, whether or not it's canonical. In YOUR buffyverse it's what happened.

I also like the idea of a large city with a supernatural lure-- what about say New Orleans? Or even Portland, Or. Or Savannah, GA. Etc.

I'd like young-ish adult but adult. Not high school, but college.

@coin Or anyone can be-- since one of the things the show ended with was Willow awakening every potential slayer ever. 😛 . Which was how the couple of Buffy Games I've played on had done it.

Hell, I'll give you space on my digital ocean seed if you need it (assuming @Ifrit or @Thenomain will help me set it up so the ports don't conflict with Sacred-Seed).

Are there any active modern day games out there? Doesn't have to be WoD, could be some other type of setting as long as it's active.

Things I don't miss about college: Professors who make you listen to an hour long lecture for things that can be explained in a few paragraphs or pages in a book. But no, you have to watch an entire video lecture and take notes. Or you lose points.
