      @cobaltasaurus
I have sympathies for anyone stuck doing inventory in any kind of retail environment. I had to do that shit working at Radioshack and it was never a pleasant experience and corporate often did all they could to make it a horrifying painful night.

I would have rather swallowed razorblades.

It's foooood service. 😄 So inventory is supposed to be done NIGHTLY. I typically do it on Tuesdays and the nights I close (Saturdays), unless something extraordinary happens (like we get so badly fucked that we canceled 50-100 delivery orders and close the store early in defeat) and just say fuck it and go home without doing inventory.

Doing inventory Tuesday night, quote Cobalt, repeatedly: "What the fuck is this shit?!"

"Why are we taking soda from two different cases?! I HAVE to COUNT this shit! Take from one!"

"I'm going to murder someone: Why is the fanta and pibb xtra mixed together?!"

"....why did we start taking from the bottom layer of ranch before the top layer was empty?"

"....why are there multiple stacks of 9 boxes, rather than 10? WHO CAN'T COUNT TO TEN?"

"...................................................what the fuck is this shit? Why is there a stack of pizza boxes shoved back into the slot the wrong way, blocking all other boxes from going in??? The large boxes are put in right! why not the mediums?!"

"...oh, look, the drink cooler. Aaah, yes, we have two sections of lemonade. Why? I don't know, I give up."

So far my time training to be an assist manager appears to be summed up with two quotes:

"I'm very sorry about that, I'm voiding your payment right now, and we'll get that order out to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."

      and...

      "Who did this?!"

Blrblr. I'm working full time right now and pretty tired most of the time. So I'm going to go into a kinda semi-MU retirement. I have my characters on Arx (Lys and Clover), and will be sticking with them but gonna give up the ghost on the couple of other places I peek in occasionally.

40-45hrs a week, and then the possibility of 50+hrs a week is a little more than I can handle and being super active in this hobby. 😛

Thanks for all the fish, memories, and fun times.

I'm unfortunately going to put this onto an indefinite backburner. I'm working full time now, and because of the nature of my job that actually means anywhere from 1-5hrs of overtime to 10+hrs of overtime once I'm actually managing full time.

Thank you for everyone who was interested in the development and were encouraging of the game. Sorry for anyone who is disappointed.

    • Arx: Late Night IC Assistant

This might be a strange request, I'm looking for someone for a particular type of role for my character Clover@Arx:

Clover is a character designed to be a support / researcher. One of her main skillsets is investigating. However, my work training has ramped up and I'm working pretty consistently overtime AND my hours are pretty late. I'm able to catch some west-coasters but I'm often on too late for east-coasters. So passing /on/ the lore Clover's able to find can be difficult.

So I'm looking for someone who can be available later in the evenings (especially Thurs / Fri, where it doesn't have to be too late because those are my days off). Who would be available to RP about Clover's research projects and then pass that information on to other people.

RP would be a must, obviously, because @clues with no context is not good. HOWEVER. I also want someone who has other hooks as well, so they're not spinning their wheels for me. This'd be one role/job for the character, not all of them.

If you're interested let me know! Can be either a new character, or one already approved.

    • Creative/Clean insults?

The other day I had a thought about someone that was basically: "You seem like the type of person who drives with their brights on. Always on."

Which got me to thinking about other creative but clean "gentle" insults or mockery. What's the cleanest but most creative insult you've got?

@arkandel On an OOC level-- the Duel Elemental will be something overseen by staff. And on an IC level ... I dunno, social pressure. Don't be an asshole OOC! Probably Duel Elementals have to be registered with a court ruler, and if they're seen as frivolous or without merit the person doing the challenging will be punished.

      Updates:

I've decided to go ahead and use the available arx-code, and change the system as needed (hopefully I won't break it too badly). I'm not sure how much of it I will use and how much of it I will take out. (I'll probably remove the coded combat-- I know sparring matches are popular, but I'm planning to change the stats and stuff and I'm sure that'll massive break it).

But here's a little theme thing, while I tinker on with the NPCs, important rosters, and various theme things.

There are two types of duels in Cloria. The first is a duel with swords (The Crossing of Blades) which is seen as "the commoner's duel". Typically the Seedless commoners will duel on behalf of Seeded nobles. Typically because the matter at hand is not serious enough to warrant a Duel Elemental. The Duel Elemental is used only for very serious matters. Where two Seeded with combat capable powers fight using their powers. It is very dangerous and though very rarely are thems 'to the death', these often end in the deaths of one the-- and sometimes both --parties, because the use of elemental magic upon each other is dangeorus and somewhat difficult to control.

The Crossing of Blades is typically seen as entertaining and the outcome meant to be respected, but very rarely impacts a noble's life. For example, they are typically used to obtain an apology from another noble or to get another noble to stop trying to take one's protege.

The Duel Elemental are serious, dangerous fights, and the outcomes must be respected and can severely impact a noble's life. For example, the Duel Elemental might be used between Seeded both vying for the inheritance of an aunt or uncle's title. One might challenge the other for the right be heir and the loser *must* relinquish all claims to that inheritance. The Duel Elemental may never be used for small, petty matters. It is not be used because one feels insulted or snubbed. It is only used to prevent massive conflicts between or within houses.

    • RE: I owe a lot of people some apologies.

I spent the day at work away from MU stuff and talked with my SO after work. I've done a cursory glance-- folks are right in that I probably shouldn't have said what I did originally in my post since this is the constructive area (I apologize, I didn't even really realize this was in constructive, but I also probably would have still said it). I've not edited the post so everyone can see how shamefully dramatic I am.

    • RE: I owe a lot of people some apologies.

      First:

I said this privately to @surreality but I'll say it publicly too. While I won't say "it's okay" because that'd be speaking for other people who have been impacted. I will say-- I understand and I'm not mad at you Surreality. I was underneath the thumb of Spider for long enough that I know what it's like to take a step back and realize you were being fed venom for a long time, and have to look back on your past actions and judge all of them as carefully as you can. It's a shit feeling. I'm glad you realized the person in question was toxic.

Also, though I didn't say this in our chat because I'm running out of time before work I'll say it now--

I do owe you an apology as well. I apologize for the day I basically spammed you with gifs in threads. It's not an excuse to be explain: I was honestly just trying to have discourse with you and then you started saying that I was always out for you, and I just sort of snapped and was like 'well she wants conflict, I'll give her conflict'-- It was petty and I shouldn't have done it. I'm sorry.

      Lastly:

I'm gone. Until @Auspice is no longer an admin-- at the very fucking least --on this board I'm gone. I won't be returning to MSB. I won't be engaging in the MU* community where I know she is. It's one thing to tell people I'm aggressively chasing the guy she wants on a game (she was wrong by the way) but it is another to tell people details about my real life and about my real life relationship-- whether those details are correct or inaccurate.

That is the shittiest fucking thing.

And I won't be a part of a community that welcomes her with open arms.

      peace

ETA: I can't find how to delete my account, so it'll just be around like my ghost forever. Bye guys!

    • RE: NaNoWriMo 2018

I'm giving it a shot. I kept telling myself I'd write an outline for a like ten chapter thing with five scenes per chapter and use that as a guideline (I didn't do that-- So I'll do that tomorrow, now that I've written the first page).

No one will EVER see it, because I'm taking one of my RP characters out that setting and plunking her down into a mostly-our-world setting. It's less for being able to share this particular story and breaking myself into finishing something that's more than 20-30k words.

    • RE: Calaveras MUSH

I was having a little bit of trouble getting back into the headspace of Briony, since it's been so long since I was active on her. (I'm not retiring her, but just letting that be for a moment!)

So I made a new PC:

Hellion Little Sister GO -- Ianthe Abernathy. She's from New York, so if you have a character from NY too and want ties hit me up!

@wretched said in Do you read the book(s)?:

When i run scenes, the most I want/expect is for people to read about what is on their sheet/what they are trying to do.

It depends on what kind of mood I'm in. If I'm in the mood to teach people I don't care if they have read, as long as they listen to me when I explain the rules to them. If I'm expecting a fast combat and people have read what their merits do... well if I'm in a bad mood that might aggravated me.

      Might not.

What is the definition of read the books? From front cover to back? All the fluff? All the mechanics but no fluff. Just the mechanics you need to read?

It doesn't on how rules heavy, and how interested I am in playing by the rules.
