    • RE: Star Trek MU*s

      Starfleet@Anomlay and Halmar@Gamma One both ran really decent Star Trek games. (Starfleet had his problems and some people wouldn't agree with me). But both are pretty much no longer mushing-- or aren't as far as I'm aware. That particular style of star games (heavy on the storytold "missions" and plots) was left with Rapier@Gamma One, and he basically ran things into the ground. Also was very heavy on the play-by-reports that people always complain about here (though to be honest I never thought it was that bad to put in a report saying 'hey there's this thing, lets talk about it and do some stuff' and then add to it afterward saying 'hey we figured out this stuff'.)

      Geez, where is this person? There's a poke stop everywhere! I have like 3 within a mile radius, and I'm considering that lucky.

      My town is freaking full of pokestops.

      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: super out of it
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: twitching, scratching, jerking around. talking to himself. raising his hands like he was waiting for the lord to pick him up and carry him away
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and he comes through self check out
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and he's mostly fine
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: but stares at the machine after putting out his money
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: i'm like
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: "its 2.50"
      9:24 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and he babbles something

      9:25 PM - The Valentine's Crab: This is even better than oblique sarcasm
      9:25 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and i'm like: no, if you pull on the receipt it hurts the machine
      9:25 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and i kid you fucking not he turns to me and says

      9:26 PM - The Valentine's Crab: holy shit
      9:26 PM - The Valentine's Crab: I'm dying
      9:26 PM - The Valentine's Crab: You must have been terrified
      9:26 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and i'm slowly trying to walk away from him, while smiling / trying not to laugh / trying not to cry
      9:26 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and he keeps on about how he's empathic to machines
      9:26 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and then ends it with: i'm peter pan's son, i never stop flying
      9:27 PM - Princess Jellyfish: and then he walked off, came to a stop infront of my supervisor, looked at her, made a show of crumbling up his receipt and announced, see! i'm empathic to machines

      @WTFE

      ugh. our self check machines are like the most retarded things ever. The regularly freak out when you put the item YOU JUST SCANNED into the bagging area. If you have a bag it does this particularly. No amount of "add my bag" fixes it. It just freaks out like: OMG WHAT IS THIS WHA TIS GOING OMG.

      And then one got stuck in a loop when someone scanned a $0.50 pack of gum and put down on the thing today. No amount of "i don't want to bag this item" made the fucking thing go away. So I had to restart the whole damned machine.

      ETA: And our POS system will not let you swipe your card if it has a chip. So if your chip is in some way damaged you're basically fucked. I had two people today trying to use the self checks without the same of thirty minutes, with broken chips. I finally managed to get one working, but the other had had to use a completely different card because the fucking system wouldn't let him swipe despite his chip being defective.

      (Yes, yes, I know go get it fixed if it doesn't work but he should /still be able to swipe!/ augh!!)

    • RE: [Request] Policy Template

      Here we go in fact:

      ----------------------------| Crime & Punishment |-----------------------------

        If it becomes an issue, it will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      -------------------| Acceptable Behavior on Blood & Citrus |-------------------

        We have a few guidelines for acceptable behavior but are all based upon
        two rules that everyone must follow:

        * Behave like an adult
        * Treat others like adults

        PG-13: All public venues, IC and OOC, are to be treated with the spirit of
        a PG-13 rating. This includes the OOC nexus, public grid locations, large
        scenes, and all non-group channels. Discussions of a gross or overtly
        sexual nature are to be avoided.

        OOC Affection: Player boundaries are not limited to the violent, but the
        intimate as well. Excitement and enthusiasm are fantastic and we encourage
        them, but please respect the virtual boundaries of strangers.

        CAVEAT: All behavior is okay if all people involved are okay with it. If
        you are in doubt, either ask or don't do it. If you are not okay with a
        situation, respectfully say so.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      (Well, that last file is from B&C, not DW. The original DW file also had a note about rape not being permissible unless all parties involved in the "RP" would wanted to deal with it.)

      Darkwater had one policy:

      "If it's a problem, we'll deal with it."

      And then eventually a "conduct" semi-policy that outlined things like:

      • Don't be touchy-feely with people you don't know are okay with it.
      • Stop if someone says stop.
      • No Rape where other people are forced to interact with it if they don't want to.

      My concern is that the original Twilight Moons' grid was HUGE. And I don't know if that's the way to go now-a-days.

      It isn't.

      Not necessarily so. You want a grid that fits your player base. HM's grid was "huge" as well, but for its time it fit its player base. Fallcoast's grid is relatively small and it does not fit its playerbase. There are rooms with so many builds attached to them its like: "wtf".

      Are you building an all-spheres-included CoD game? If so got with a medium to large grid. Are you doing a single sphere game? Small grid. Some weird niche game (like mine), probably a smaller ish grid, but with the possibility of expansion if things get going.
