    • RE: Pokemon Go

      Eh.

People go to graveyards for Pokemon, but don't visit their dead; people go to playground for Pokemon, but don't slide down the slide; people go to parking lots for Pokemon, but don't park their cars; people go to schools for Pokemon, but don't study for anything.

Why people think that people going to a voting location for Pokemon will mean they will also vote, instead of getting their Pokemon and then turning and walking away, I don't know.

But this is the cynic in me.

So, you know... the only me there is.

      Devlin.

I mean, he knew it was wrong, okay? It was a secret he kept from his own family, and he was runnin' around sacrificin' people and shit with them because all the St. Johns were Silthite Cultists, lololololololol.

Wait.... kept from his own family? Since when do you think you were keeping any secrets from Crystal, Baby Brother? You're so cute.

Well, he didn't tell anyone. He kept it. Whether anyone respected his privacy, well. 😕

School isn't always about learning things. Sometimes the lesson you learn is how to cough up exactly what the bossman wants so you can move on with your life. This professor wants some bullshit about xyz so I give him that and we both move on. These people have devoted years of their life to study of this topic. They think what they have to say is important. That's all.

I'd argue that that's a fair point when it comes to basic schooling, but once you're into college or courses that you want to take for your actual education and that are your choice, if someone is teaching you a lesson in obedience to a professor/boss, that better fucking be what you wanted to learn.

      IMO.

@JaySherman I have a clear response to your original question after reading some of the replies to your inquiry. Close the doors, board them up, spray paint "DONT DEAD OPEN INSIDE" on them and walk away. If for no other reason than to watch @NOTuseless go absolutely loony. So please, I implore you, shut this game down.

Im sorry to disappoint you but I wont be going looney if she shuts the game down. I said my peace. She can do what she wants. Ive had enough of the sorry pieces of shit it seems the entire mush community is riddled with, the people on this thread clearly part of to the point I think Im sorry I even suggested she keeps the pace open. Its not worth it. So you guys go rattle on about something else now. Im done.

I think you expected something completely different when you thundered in here self-righteously.

To be clear, I don't particularly think you're entirely wrong (and I don't give enough of a fuck to argue the points I think you're wrong on) but if you were expecting some sort of sympathy and whatnot, this is the wrong place. Even in the Mildly Constructive board.

You may certainly get it. But it will never be because you went looking for it.

Not quite anger but... so this woman came into the men's locker room this morning. No one happened to be naked at the time but she just strolled in without saying a word, entered the bathroom, left the door half-open, peed (it was audible) then she walked out again.

We were kinda exchanging looks after, like... what just happened here? I guess maybe the girls' bathroom was occupied but still - and she never said a word, either.

Look at the title of the thread. Really look at it.

    • RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC

Cisgender white-hispanic dude, here. Mostly play cisgender dudes (race is the thing that varies the most). When I do play a minority group I am not a part of, I try to do so as respectfully as possible and usually tend to have at least one or two people I can ping for reality checks, etc. I try to keep the stereotypes to a minimum or at least balance them out with non-stereotypical characteristics. My character, I like to think, tend to have depth, even if sometimes it just doesn't come out overtly very often.

I am... heteroflexible, honestly, especially in RP, but like @Caryatid I tend to end up in IC heterosexual/heteroromantic relationships, though there have been some prevalent homoromantic relationships that very seldon traversed into homosexuality.

In RL it's a whole other kettle of fish for reasons.

@surreality Glancing at that link, one piece of commentary about Anne Rice's explosion jumped off the page at me:

"I suspect that most authors don’t really want criticism, not even constructive criticism. They want straight-out, unabashed, unashamed, fulsome, informed, naked praise, arriving by the shipload every fifteen minutes or so."

That sounds very uncomfortably close to our hobby here.

      Neil Gaiman transcends.

      So basically--

Valor embraces it as cock-fighting slave culture, Mystic shoots itself in the foot by pointing out that the creatures they're enslaving and using in cock-fights are actually way smarter than most people think, and Instinct isn't giving it much thought at all because lulz cock-fighting.

Man, if that isn't an analogy for the way modern society views just about any social issue, I don't know what is.

Remember when you told me Pokemon was a clear cut example of a dystopian world?

Do I remember when I was right? Yes. I mean, not every time I was right; that's a lot. But I remember that one specific instance.

This past week and a half I binge-watched Continuum from start to finish.

Extremely smart show. A lot of fun. Good pacing, good dialogue, good plot. Light on the special effects for a time-travel show, but better for it. Very satisfying ending without being sappy or depressing in either extreme. Hit a well-achieved balance in the end. Above average casting, too.

Something new and creative. I don't want to see some generic "here's our le game! Submit your apps for our rubber stamping!" Show me something creative. Some new twist on the structure of the game. Something... I haven't seen already a thousand times.

That's so specific and clear! Especially since creativity isn't subjective at all. Now everyone wanting to make a game will know exactly what to do! Thanks!

@VulgarKitten We're facing that right now with my sister-in-law. Why we didn't like a picture of her kid, a video, or whatever. On Sunday she text my wife to ask why she hadn't liked a video.

To which she informed her in-law that she can't see anything on her page, because about half a decade ago she(the in-law) got upset and restricted what my wife could see on her page and is now apparently too stupid to reverse it. So this has been the song and dance for a few years now as she regularly whines that my wife doesn't acknowledge her crotch-goblin on social media, because of her own error.

I'd just restrict her access to my own feed, post stuff, and text her super pissed with, "WHY AREN'T YOU LIKING MY SHIT? DO YOU HATE ME? YOU'RE RUINING MY LIIIIIIIIFE!"

Oh god, there is nothing more frustrating than being told, "Yeah, even though you rolled incredibly well at this investigation/whatever, because you aren't taking the right OOC tack, you don't find anything. Sorry!"

Except maybe being told that at the end of a four hour scene in which you try every possible method you can think of to progress, only to have the GM eventually say the above.

Yeah. Just fucking tell me first. Let me roll to find the right avenue of investigation or interaction.
