I feel like people are expecting these movies to just be like a constant stream of gasp-worthy surprises. Like, probably not, there will probably be a majority of the movie where it is logical action and sensible character moments, lol.

There was a guy like this on the train to work today. Like, dude, I have my headphones on and am barely awake. It's really nice that you're new to the country, but I have to go to work at the next stop and I kind of have to number 2, please, just stop talking.

I work at HR for a very large (national government) organization and have to speak on the phone with retired researchers who want to continue working (often ad-honorem).

They tell me their life stories. Every day. And I have to sit there and wait until they get to the fucking point.

@Aria I was not bored. I came out thoroughly entertained. But lord, it wasn't good, to quote Bloom County.

So, basically the BPRD/Hellboy equivalent of Netflix's The Order, which is a series that is so terribad it results in an underflow on the 'quality' field and wraps around into being somewhat enjoyable again?

You take that back. The Order is worth it just for the Argentina joke.

I spit my mate all over the table.

    • RE: The Unfindable Flag

In the end, while I don't begrudge people the use of unfindable that way, I feel that it only really helps to further the harrassing attitude that made them set the flag on themselves in the first place.

As staff, I would rather know that a player has been doing this to someone, than have the "fix" be another player setting themselves unfindable. This is because being unfindable, at best, fixes your problem, but not the problem. They're just going to find someone else, who's going to do the same thing, and so on and so forth.

I'd rather sit the offending player down and be like, 'Look, this attitude is not cool.'

Endgame was really good. Long though. Really long. To the point where, for me, it impacted the enjoyment of the movie a little bit. Even so I don't regret having seen it. They did an amazing job with it.

      Uhm.

It flew by for me. Like, I'll probably notice the length of the movie a lot more then second time, but I did not feel its length was an issue the first time around (which I did with Lord of the Rings, years and years ago).

I think Clint dying would have cheapened the whole thing.

He had a family. He became Ronin because of the dark place he'd gone to in losing his wife and kids. The movie was this path of redemption for him. He was willing to sacrifice himself, but Natasha wasn't going to let him because she loves his family as much as she loves him and because she's a good leader. That moment was showcasing the kind of leader she'd become. If she'd let him sacrifice himself, it would've made her a shitty friend, a shitty friend of his family, and a bad leader.

Should Marvel have given us a Black Widow movie a long time ago? Yes. Of course they should have. But to think 'Natasha should have lived because we didn't get a Black Widow movie' is the same sort of thing that leads to OOC behaviors influencing IC.

Clint and Wanda talking at the end gives me hope that she'll step up into that mentor/leader role now.

Eh. Clint surviving because he has a family is cheap too. You can justify it however you want, it's not gonna resonate with some people anyway. There's no narratively better option between the two.

ETA: If it helps my favorite cross-over is Alfre Woodard, she's one up on Josh, Michael and Chris Evans (1st Storm/Capt America - I guess his ass is hot afterall?), she played two roles in the same movie verse (mother of boy killed in Sokovia and my favorite portrayal as Mariah Dillard on Luke Cage)

I'm still semi-amused by Brandon Routh playing both Clark Kent/Superman (Superman Returns) and Ray Palmer/Atom (Legends of Tomorrow) in adaptations of DC stuff. If only because it set up the throwaway joke of Ray meeting Kara Danvers/Supergirl and remarking that she reminded him of his cousin.

And now Zachary Levi is playing Shazam!/Captain Marvel, who has worked and found himself looking up to... Superman, who was played by Brandon Routh, who played... Daniel Shaw, who was looked up to by Chuck.

      Ugh, I love 6 degrees.

    • RE: How to: make your poses less repetitive

Anyone who's played with me knows that I favor the concise approach to posing. Less is more. Hemingway was a lot of unlikeable things, but his prose style is something I've learned to really enjoy when it comes to my RP, because it makes my poses comprehensible and comprehensive.

Good tip: Count your commas. If you count your commas you start to notice what you use them for; if you're using them to add clarifications to your statements or main phrases, chances are you are just repeating shit that doesn't require it.

Kind of dig the idea of Jon not wanting the throne so much he just fucking destroys it. I mean, it would be right in line with Jon snow's way of thinking to think that if destroys the physical object he also destroys the "wheel". (It doesn't.)

I am eternally aware I fell into the same trap on Eldritch and thus is not a critique of anyone, but I really wish that games would cosnider using (on top of theme/setting appropriate Bloodlines) theme/settign appropriate custom Covenants, or Covenant off-shoots (in the case of the Sanctified and the Acolytes).

it is absolutely not baked into the theme the way it is for WoD

Yeah, most WoD games don't tend to focus on the horror bit either.

But it is baked into the WoD/CofD theme in a way that it is not in Spirit Lake.

For starts, no one is going to have a leg to stand on if they try that "it's the world of darkness not the world of sunshine and ponies" bullshit at Spirit Lake.

Even in horror-light WoD games, there are things like the hopelessness of being a Neonate while there are Elders walking around. Or being and Elder and knowing that an Antediluvian could wake up at any moment and demolish and entire continent. This game does not have that element. There's no impending or immediate doom that could be set off by the crack of an egg shell that everyone is standing on.

      Yep.

It just seems a little more light-hearted, or at least not as committed to nihilism. It's a design choice and that's good.
