In a game, different people control different characters and their relevancy is dictated by several players who may or may not want to have the same level of cooperation.
What you are arguing is that uncooperative players - which I read as 'bad players' - are bad. True, but that's a separate issue that we'd be running into if one person is playing a maxed out Gangrel and the other is a Mekhet who put all their dots in social fluff. One would be easier to overshadow than the other, but that's on the player.
In the same way that making Batman not overshadow Superman is on the writer.
It's always on the people controlling the narrative.
Your analogy is bad.
But your mom is good.
Better'n yours, anyway.

RE: Anyone interested in starting a new nWoD game?
The game I and others have been working on for months is still a go. We have a lot done, with a bit more to go, and we're sort of waiting on Werewolf 2e. But we might go into alpha/beta fairly soon sans werewolf. Once the wiki is in a presentable state, you're going to get advertisements for it!

RE: Update Errors
The screen sizing issue might be accidental clicking on the button that appears if you hover your mouse near the bottom right corner of the screen.

RE: Transparency
The only time it's okay to keep alts actively a secret from your friends is when you're punking them. At least, for me, anyway.
I have a friend who likes to secret herself away for the lulz and wait for someone to finally recognize her (which sometimes we do, sometimes we don't). I totally got her back one time. It was great.

Is there any great MUSH out there that isn't a ragequit game of some fashion or another? You don't usually go out and create a new game if you're happy with the previous ones.
There's a gulf of difference between "I'm not happy with this game, I am going to make my own that does things the way I like it" and "THIS GAME IS THE WORST AND IT RUINED MY LIFE AND I'M MAKING MY OWN".
You can also make your own game while never rage quitting the previous one.

Duh. That's why everyone loves you, you gruff sumbitch.
Or it just means nobody should pay attention to reputation metrics and people who do deserve every ounce of disappointment that comes their way.
I mean, you cited @Coin as someone with a respected opinion, and he thinks Power Rings letting you talk while traveling at light speed is the line to draw in the sand. Clearly, your formula for interpretation leaves much to be desired.
Go grow some boobs, asshole. XD

RE: Transparency
I get a feeling it was easier back in the day when people didn't tend to add each other to skype and what not fairly easily. I mean, if I get on with someone well enough, I'll ask for their skype or e-mail to keep in touch just in case, which means that if I am keeping my alt a secret and they ask, I have to lie to my friend, which I don't really like.

RE: Darkwater as Mini-Games
Maybe this would be a good place to put that Hunter-only game the other thread is about.

Second, it would be awful nice if games used and enforced the actual, published systems that are calculated to make your players' lives easier. From "Down and Dirty Combat" to "Beat Down" rules, those 2E games that opened (except for the one in Austin) just outright ignored these systems for no apparent reason. Use the published systems, dammit.
Eldritch adressed and made use of (at least in the scenes I ran) both Down and Dirty Combat and Beaten Down when and where applicable. It's just really hard to ingrain somethingn into a community as resistent as MUSHdom. I even used D&D Combat as the mechanic for a variety of other things because it was a good tool.

@ganymede GET DISCORD YOU JERK BECAUSE I WANT TO TALK TO YOU AND WE'RE NEVER ON GAMES AT THE SAME TIME
So many networks, I can't keep up with all of them.
For example I saw your message asking to reset your password like, two weeks after you sent it. I had Discord open, but I just... never check it if I'm not in a raid group.
To be fair, Discord is really bad for chill messaging; it's horrible for getting my attention.

RE: Are there any historically-themed WoD mu*?
@Arkandel said:
@Coin, I had some ideas we can discuss if you want but basically I am so tired of modern-era WoD games. They just look done by now, so much they all sort of blend into one big game with semantical differences between them, if not by design (and some MU* have worked hard on keeping a unique design) then because that's how the playerbases treat them, which comes down to the same thing.
There are challenges in doing it in an unexpected way of course but maybe they're worth it. If there's interest we can look into it.
I would really enjoy a CoD (rules-wise) Dark Ages/Medieval Forsaken game. I think that era would be fucking amazing for a werewolf game. Might be because I've been playing too much Witcher 3...

RE: Testing polling
What if the vote was for who should die and you all just voted for your favorites? There's a reason the walkers weren't on there--they're already dead.
