@Admiral Yeah the first one I hated but made myself push and I love it now, the main character is a moron but its great.

Josh is an absolute knob but I love him because he's a knob in the most adolescent way possible. And refreshingly, he runs rightinto his prejudices and contradictions and comes out the other side changed--even in that very very very last scene you can see the sudden change when he realized all his preconceptions were backwards.

But yes, absolute idiot, in the best narrative way.

I think the basic premise here is that none of the Optional Realities crowd (except maybe @Jeshin?) have interacted with the rest of the community on any thread other than this one; and even if they have here and there, not to an extent that it's noticeable and makes them feel part of the community.

So if you want to be part of the community, you need to actually, you know, take part in it, not just the very small sub-section of it that promotes your own thing elsewhere.

      Hypocrite!

I mean, I feel like I've successfully proven that I CAN, in fact, do JUST THAT.

I'm sorry, let me rephrase briefly:

You can't be busy with other stuff for a long time and leave us high and dry and then come back and be like 'waaah they're busy now'. Without being a DIRTY HYPOCRITE.

Go take a shower of honesty and self-crit.

The movie? Meh. The cartoon got it

And this is why Batman: the Animated Series should be on everyone's watch list, all the time.

And honestly, by extension: Superman: The Animated Series (which dealt with Darkseid brainwashing Kal-El into a monstrous servant), Batman Beyond (BECAUSE IT'S BATMAN BEYOND), and Justice League and Justice League: Unlimited because it was the culmination of all of those coming together.

Honestly just... those four shows are so fucking amazing. Even Superman, which was just a liiiiiiiiiiittle bit milquetoast compared to the others (especially the Batman ones).

They want to be pretty and have everyone love them but TS is icky and gross.

I find that if you really don't want to be propositioned for TS, there are better PB avatar images.

I know you're kidding (I hope you're kidding) but this is a sentiment that people actually show in all seriousness, and it's stupid.

I want a Dark Sun game that isn't a) a MUD or b) house ruled so heavily as to be practically unrecognizable or c) using some weird alternate history theme.

Just straight Dark Sun, at whatever point in the timeline.

This. I used to play the hell out of Armageddon MUD waaaay back in the 90's early oughts. Would love to see a true Dark Sun MUSH to play on now. With work and a kid I AFK for brief moments too much to play on a MUD where perm-death can happen whether you're at the screen or not. 😛

I'd love that too. I really don't have time to grind up a character and deal with "let's do ruff circlez dude" type rp.

I'm excited for the shadowrun 2050 that's coming out too. Shadowrun was where I really got into mushing.

I wouldn't mind an Alter*nity based mush either. Really versatile gaming system that was updated to d20 a few years back.

I mentioned Alternity to @NotaNumber recently. I really loved the alien designs for that game.

I honestly think most games give WAY too much XP to beginning characters. I think none to start but incentives in c-gen to get up to 10 would be reasonable.

I prefer the opposite of what @surreality is suggesting; start low in CGen, but allow a cap that gets people excited about playing.

There's nothing worse for me in regards to XP than feeling my character's +sheet is already pretty damn ready right off the bat. I want to feel eager to grab some dots, to go out there and earn stuff, participate in PrPs, buy gear, improve.

The only reason this could be an issue is if you feel XP burns a hole in your pants or something, because you can just not spend the XP at first and spend it slowly as you progress at your own pace.

Only if characters are randomly given Asshole Cards that dictate when they will screw over other survivors for something truly trivial or selfish.

That's silly. This is what staff is for.

Edited to add: I was running a W:tA 20 game last year, and there was a point where the pack alpha needed to roll to see if he Rage-frenzied when stopped by a sheriff at a traffic stop in the middle of the day in a downtown area. As GM, I told him I would give him an XP if he chose to fail prior to rolling. The pack spent the rest of the session running from other police and taking care of witnesses.

Players will do anything for extra XP. So, give it to them, and laugh.

The new system (sort of) does this by default. I love it. I think people should be able to fail a roll entirely, too, without even rolling, once per scene.

But in your kingdom, where would I buy a pillow? The workers seized the means of production.

You're annoying me because you face is stupid. Shut up.

Also, get me a pillow. I want to sleep. Fuck the world.

Also also, I never said you had to buy it, and even if I had, seizing the means of production doesn't actually mean you stop being able to buy pillows, it would just mean that the profits go to the workers instead of an exploitative capitalist / bougeoise owner of a pillow making factory.

      @Kireek
You failed to grasp the message I was trying to deliver with my reply to you. I will elucidate:

If someone who has gone through the effort of making a game--which I can tell, because I am in the midst of it, is actually pretty demanding--posts saying that they are going to try to ramp up activity actively, if your immediate response is to scoff and say, "Pfft, yeah, I'll believe it when I see it," then you're not actually doing anything productive. In fact, you're being counter-productive, because if you had any sort of influence, even if just passive, on other people who read this forum, they might decide not to go and invest themselves in the plot, not play there, and not give Reno the thing they need to make any attempt at plot work: players. You are actually discouraging people. You are, in fact, helping it to fail. For what? So you can then say, "see? told you so"? Come on, man. You could have at least said, "It's nice to see that they are attempting to step away from detrimental behavior," and left it at that, instead of the exact opposite.
