Yep, I'd want a GRRL Power parabatai, plus I also get to completely reimagine my character's Shadowhunter bloodline and I am more or less going to town with that with Razzle's blessing. Everything I've pitched he's been cool with, so far.

Apping here, however I do kind of wish I had a buddy to parabatai with because that would rock socks.

RE: RL Anger
Okay, so. I've been coping with this for about two months, and I'm still having trouble dealing with it.
My oldest brother and I have been fighting since the election kicked into high gear. He was vehemently anti-Hillary (but had no argument for or against Trump). It came to the point where we simply decided the best thing was to not talk politics to each other. But then he posted a meme on his facebook of a photo of a famous pop singer holding a blow up dildo on stage and the caption "X is supporting Hillary - Because she's shocked at what Trump said and is fighting hard for women's dignity".
And I kinda lost my shit:
1. An artist giving a sexualized performance (whether you approve of/enjoy that performance or not) has nothing to do with her private sexual behavior.
2. Her private sexual behavior is NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS.
3. Her choice to perform is not the same as a man laughingly admitting to sexual assault. Even if she's promiscuous (and there's absolutely no proof that she is, and even if she is, see #2) she does not deserve to be assaulted for any reason ever.
4. For you to equate consensual sexual behavior or sexualized expression with sexual assault is basically the equivalent of you spitting in the face of my sexual assault and telling me I deserved it. Yeah. I'm ashamed of you. Hope you're proud of yourself.
His response was to inform me that he was entitled to his opinion and "let go of the hate". This is after not only this thread, but a seperate one in which he tried to get me to agree that the artist is "a slut".
I haven't spoken to him since, and it's #4 in particular that hurts because it's clear he doesn't see how badly he hurt me or how toxic what he said is.

Did Arx just crash for anyone else?

RE: Good TV
Double post, suck it up: The Sense8 holiday special is the tv show I kinda knew I needed and was totally right.
I kind of wish it was a viable setting for rp, but I can't imagine how. You'd have to put an enormous amount of trust in your fellow cluster players.

RE: White Wolf Survey
I'm glad they're aware of the format and actually pay attention to it. I had a good convo with one of the developers ages and ages ago and at the time they really had no idea how popular the format for play had become.

RE: RL Anger
I don't mind bae as it happens, I guess because I like how it sounds, despite the inherent infantilization. (I hate "lass" for the same reason, it literally means "little girl" fuck you I'm a grown ass woman.)
But I do have a growing irk for infantilizing monikers in general these days. I'm reading a series of books in which there are several strong women with different focuses; but reading, for example, the bad-ass mercenary's lover calling her "kitten" makes me want her to slap him.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
I might be out of my mind, but I'm considering giving it a go.

RE: RL Anger
Is anyone else seriously tired of "thirsty" being used to describe people (women mostly) who are interested in sex? Because I'm starting to outright hate it.

RE: Help With Played Bys
Oh naw, believe me, it's not limited to the teenage assessment.
-
RE: Help With Played Bys
@Auspice said in Help With Played Bys:
down.I will note... I think the photo sets are primarily submitted by teenagers, so the 'age' ranges can be way off. We're talking someone in their 20s being in the 40s section and vice versa.
That is a huge peeve of mine. I'm okay with "Hollywood Aging", like using actors in their late teens/early 20's to play middle teen chars, but no one's going to look at say, Russell Crowe in a recent film and pass him off as 23, or or Phillip Seymour Hoffman and call him college age.

RE: The Apology Thread
I never understood either of them. They hated some of the things I did, they clearly didn't like me, and yet somehow when I left the game, they both took it as if I'd killed their dog. Like...why are you complaining about someone you didn't like anyway leaving the game? Basically, it was an excuse to be angry assholes and justify their status as alpha bullies in the MUSH community.
(Yeah, I may still have a lot of rage about this.)

RE: Good TV
@thebird I feel like explaining my rationale would spoil it, so if you watch some of it and still want to know, I'll expand in pm or some such.

RE: The Apology Thread
@Coin: I was thinking of that nasty couple who basically decided they hated me and spread all kinds of nasty about me on WORA back in the day. I genuinely wouldn't piss on either of them if they were on fire. I will quite readily admit between the verbal abuse and the fact that they posted a pic of me on the forum explicitly to make fun of, the fall-out sent me to therapy.
But yeah, Hack had serious problems. I put up with a lot from him, but his groping one of my characters without her consent and then him getting huffy and wounded puppy because I called him on it? I was so done.

RE: The Apology Thread
I can verify what Coin said.
Devilshire had its own brand of cancer.

RE: Help With Played Bys
Double post, but I wanted to add - an easy way to be on the lookout for potential Changeling PB's is to check out various scifi and fantasy shows. Several iterations of Trance Gemini from Andromeda, for example, or the alien characters from Farscape, almost any show, film, or even scene where prosthetics and skin color alteration are involved can be used. (e.g., Natalie Portman in Black Swan mode)
Also particularly pay attention to media that focuses on historical flashbacks. How did I find an Asian woman dressed in Victorian era clothing? Vampire Diaries.

RE: Help With Played Bys
You'd be surprised at how many websites might be common sense for reference. My go-tos?
IMDB, Wikipedia, and Google as a search engine.
In all seriousness, you might think that Wikipedia is a weird choice but if you're just trying to remember "hey who was that guy in that thing and wasn't he in the other thing?" it can be a lot faster and more streamlined than IMDB, though the latter is still helpful. You can also flat out google stuff like "black actors with blue eyes" "redheaded actresses under 30", etc.
Beyond that, it's just an issue of being a pop culture whore. Even if I don't watch a show or have seen a film, chances are I'm aware of it and have probably eyeballed stills. Historical/L&L stuff often gets a bit messy because, well, history (My PB's pic on Arx is from a mini-series set in Ancient Egypt)...
Specifically for L&L though, I've find this site helpful: http://www.recycledmoviecostumes.com/
