@Sunny Beautiful. Should have sent him a 'yw'. Or her, anyways.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
@kanye-qwest said in MSB, SJW, and other acronyms:
@friendlybee i don't think it has anything at all to do with being 'conservative'. Most conservatives I know don't resort to namecalling for the sake of being edgy. Calling someone a cunt is just someone being an asshole. It's not a political thing at all until people start dropping "SJW" to dismiss those who object.
And, just for context's sake, it really depends on which English-speaking region you're coming from! I don't really think Australians are trying to insult someone when they call someone that.

RE: RL Anger
Sometimes people should exercise their right to keep their mouths shut whenever it's them doing something against some sort of regulation. See: @Cobaltasaurus's case.
Sad as it is, she (customer X) should have stayed silent.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
@friendlybee I think I specified my situation quite well, honestly. You need to read back.
Because my government can and will use the words I say on the internet against me, without the very flimsy cover of anonymity. Which they can break just as well with a subpoena.
By the way, the right to express oneself is a basic human right. You are correct this is a privately-owned forum, and not all speech here is allowed. I express myself within the framework that's already set, which I do not want to see tightened. Ergo. I argue for the status quo.

RE: Shadowrun: Modern
What turns me off of Shadowrun is the elves, dwarves, that stuff. If the fantasy limited itself to the spiritual fighting the technological, perhaps one of the chiaroscuro themes of cyberpunk I really enjoy thinking about, then I would definitely consider playing.
For instance: taking the Adept class, with its martial arts emphasis and spirituality, so much at odds with a materialistic, capital-first world.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
@three-eyed-crow The difference between a Stalinist and a democratic socialist is precisely the emphasis on civil freedoms that the latter has. Orwell not only criticizes Stalin in 1984, but he also points out the inherent contradictions behind the purported intent of would-be revolutionaries and what they really do. But this falls under whether someone has a literal and concrete or a non-linear mindset.
Since I do not disagree that Orwell did criticize Stalinism in the book. Not at all, but I also don't think that's all it is about.

RE: Shadowrun: Modern
@Thenomain I think a Shadowrun without metahumans would be pretty fucking great. You're looking into a Cyberpunk possibility. I know that @somasatori and I would be more than happy to assist. We're both avid fans of the literary genre.

RE: Horror MUX - Discussion
@faraday TGG was based on war campaigns and the outcomes were already settled. It's an example towards the same thing, but not the best example. @EUBanana knows I love his games though.

RE: Shadowrun: Modern
@Lithium Uh, okay. But your rebuttal has not touched on the nuance I outlined at all. Plus I wrote the difference between Street Samurai and Solo, and it appears that it also went right over your head. Their codes of conduct also differ greatly. Molly has one, Turner has another.
I also have to quote myself here:
@deadculture said in Shadowrun: Modern:
... whereas Turner seems to get himself jobs thanks to contacts in corporations here and there. He tries to honor his contracts, but evidently in the span of the novel he starred, that didn't turn out so well.
He got jobs thanks to contacts in corporations. I didn't say he doesn't do jobs for individuals. He probably absolutely does, but that corporate contacts bring him his business.
@Thenomain I love cyberpunk. It is the dystopia I embrace in learning more about, as opposed to Brave New World and 1984.

RE: Horror MUX - Discussion
@misadventure @Botulism will try out divving people out in factions/crews next iteration and seeing if that works. I like the idea considering the future setting.

RE: Shadowrun: Modern
@Thenomain That is an interesting take, and it seems in sync with the genre, yeah. There are no heroes, everything is shades of grey, and the psycho ganger might actually be charitable and the perfect corporate manager is a ruthless serial killer for sport.

@goldfish Imagine a character with max strength, max dexterity, but no willpower. That was Eugene.
A scrawny kid at average height who looked like 40 year old Snape.
