RE: RL Anger
And the woman doesn't even have to come in late. She came in bright and early with a fake smile. The 'fix'? The bosses are making the Captain sit with us until my relief comes in, then letting me leave.
So basically they're making him wake up two hours early every morning and making me feel like a damn child.

RE: RL Anger
Well, the big bosses are coming down to talk to me sometime this week. Likely I'm going to get the standard 'no lawsuits, no filing charges' spiel.
Maybe if I'm lucky they'll want to transfer me now. If I'm super lucky they may even fire me and let me draw unemployment.
Sarcasm, of course. It's ridiculous that I have to worry now about if I get to keep my position when before I was possibly going to be promoted.
That's part of adulthood though. Accepting that the shit is always going to roll in your direction.

RE: RL Anger
In theory, yeah. I could sue like mad!
In practice, I'd be out of work and broke long before any sort of payment comes from it, and in the meantime I'd be unemployable. It's a small town. There aren't any jobs here, especially for people suing their employer.

RE: RL Anger
Alright. The 'solution' the bosses came up with? No punishment for her, no legal ramifications. Instead she gets to come into work two hours later every day and I don't have to see her.
I am... of mixed feelings about it. On the one hand? Yay, safe. They won't be threatening me anymore.
On the downside? This killed my 'promotion' I was supposed to be getting. Also she gets rewarded by not having to work so early.
And I was told if I file a lawsuit against her, I'm fired. This is Texas, so yes. They can do that.

I'll have to talk to my employer about recording equipment. There's a strict no-recording equipment policy at my workplace, we have to sign a little sheet promising to record nothing. Maybe they'll make an exception for personal safety.

RE: RL Anger
I'm waiting to hear back from the bosses. I reported it and left the job site at the earliest possible moment.
Odds are she won't get in trouble, though. Like I said, it's my word against hers and she's a conservative-christian church lady. Hell she might lie and say I was the one threatening her and get me fired. We'll see how it goes.

RE: RL Anger
I take back whatever nice things I said about my job.
I've been having problems with a log scaler (employed by a separate company, but works in the same booth as me) these past few weeks. She's been making snide little comments about me going to hell for not accepting Jesus, insinuating i'm gay, other sort of quiet little hateful things when there is nobody else around.
Today, I put in my earbuds and turned on my music so I wouldn't have to hear her. I turned the company radio (where we communicate with the mill) up loud so I could hear it over my music. I hear shrieking after a few minutes of this and she is screaming at me to turn the radio down, or she'll -MAKE- me turn it down. I tell her 'What? I can't hear you. The radio is too loud!' A few times. Why? Because -FUCK HER-, that's why.
She gets more riled up. Picks up an industrial log stapler (If you've never seen one, imagine a giant chunk of heavy metal that is designed to punch industrial staples into logs. It's a dangerous tool.) and waves it at me, threatening me with it. Literally waving it at me, not just holding it. Has it over her head and everything. Says if I don't turn the 'goddamn' radio down, she'll make me turn it down or knock me down and turn it down herself.
So I was just physically threatened at work today. About an hour ago. I had to stand with the woman for about 45 minutes waiting for my (late) relief to show up so I could get the hell out of there. I called my bosses about it and it's going up the chain.
Odds are, she won't be punished and nothing will be done. I really, really don't feel comfortable going to work under those conditions. I legitimately felt threatened. People have been telling me 'You should have let her hit you! Then she'd go to jail!'
...I really don't care about her punishment. I don't want giant fucking staples in my head or to be beaten to death by a metal bludgeon. Her going to jail is no fucking consolation if I'm dead or injured. I just want to go to work and not feel like I'm unsafe. I can deal with the racism. The bigotry. The constant insinuations as to my sexuality. The constant snide comments about my lack of religion.
What I can't deal with is feeling like I might be attacked by a co-worker at any time. It's a shitty, shitty situation.

Plus, I mean. I admitted to downvoting you. Right after I did it...
If you don't shape up I'm gonna downvote you again. That will teach you not to do things.

RE: Shadowrun!
There's a couple cyberpunk MOOs out there that aren't Shadowrun. But they both kind of worship at the altar of Code.

RE: Good TV
I like Daniel Craig as an actor.
As James Bond I found him very, very boring.

RE: Dead Celebrity Thread
I'll never forget Nancy Reagan's big drug raid where they arrested 14 people for one gram of crack.
And then she followed it up by saying that poor black people were beyond rehabilitating and suggesting that social programs to the poor were a waste of time.
Rot in hell, you old skag.

RE: RL Anger
Security is a really, really good industry to have a job in if you lack any higher education (I have a degree, but fat lot of good it does me) or have medical or social issues. Depending on the post sometimes you just sit in a chair the entire shift and never really deal with people.
All it takes is a clean criminal record for the most part.

RE: RL Anger
The company is alright, aside from never giving raises and not carrying over vacation time from when they bought the contract like every previous company.
The job is easy when it's... done. My only complaint is that people refuse to do a job that pays above minimum wage and offers health/vision/dental insurance and allows you to sit on your ass, eat snacks, and watch TV/movies/play games/dowhatever all night long.
Perhaps the problem -is- with the company. They do hire these mongs.

Does it make me a bad person if I was hoping it was the other Paul Ryan?

RE: RL Anger
No, she deserves no kudos.
The bitch left in the middle of her shift to 'go pick up her son'. She said she'd come back. She didn't.
The next night she waited until 15 minutes after her shift started to call in.
The next night she swore to the boss she would be there. The big boss. This was four hours before her shift.
Come shift time, she called in 20 minutes after it started and I had to come in.
The next night, she -swore- she would be there. Did the same thing. Now I'm picking up all the shifts she dropped. My job ISNT BAD. It's not. All I do is watch movies/tv shows all night and sometimes handle traffic. The hard part is when assholes quit constantly and I have to work 8+ shifts a week.

RE: RL Anger
Human beings are useless sacks of shit. I swear to Glob the next person to get a job where I work and quit I'm going to track them down and fuck them to death.
That is, to say. The new hire quit before her training was even done.
