In conclusion, academia is a land of contrasts nuance that only just barely qualifies as the word as someone does the same study the other person did but also wants to take this almost-irrelevant thing into question to see if it has a significant impact (spoiler: it usually doesn't but that doesn't stop people from padding out 60 pages about it because it's damn hard to find something truly interesting to write about, so you just cite everyone and hope that some of them get your paper as peer reviews and look favorably on it for the citation).

Here's the big, open secret: MUSH isn't dying. It's just becoming more exclusive and tribal. There are plenty of games out there. They just aren't as widely advertised. Many games are unlisted. Most of those are invite-only. I know of at least a half dozen offhand. There are probably many more that I don't know about.

Size was an issue. Clashing personalities was an issue. Entitlement was an issue. That's how some people solved it.

I am liking Morgan, too. Not for Altered Carbon, but for A Land Fit for Heroes, which has a similar feel to Broken Empire. The protagonists are more likeable, but just as flawed in their own ways, and make dozens of questionable choices that make you wonder who you should be rooting for. The world is much darker and more brutal though, with baser instincts brought much more to the fore.

There are also ties to Altered Carbon for those that want such a thing.

Not only is the protagonist an evil monster, hitting all the right grimdark feels for me, the imagery is amazing, and I am very much enjoying the story. Especially the part where:

It keeps me constantly on my toes, and challenges the assumptions that you make about every heroic story, and what anyone 'deserves'. Can't wait to read more of them.

I didn't touch the other parts of the series.

I disliked 15 more than 13. But I could see it!

That's officially past my previous record that I had when I was in my early 20s and gave away my old collection. I swore I wouldn't get back into this.

Properly accessorizing is one of the key things that you have to take seriously upon becoming an adult.

Final Fantasy 13 made me stop playing Final Fantasy games for almost a decade.

13 itself wasn't bad.

13-2 was a little weird but I could hang with it. It wasn't better or worse than 10-2, and ended on the same sort of cliffhanger that left us expecting 10-3.

13-3 I honestly, really gave a chance to, but when all of the characters shifted their personalities and we got into talking about how god brought her back to save as many souls as possible as some kind of literal messiah I just noped the fuck out.
