There have been times I have seriously contemplated seeing if a game based off of Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive is viable. I have absolutely no idea what kind of logistics are involved, though, but the thought does keep striking me from time to time. (Random aside, all of the staff names would be the names of the Unmade.)

RE: Which device do you play from?
PC Master Race here. ETA - Primary rig, used for video games and everything else too. Client = Potato.
I can't type for beans on my phone (speed or accuracy, relative to a computer keyboard) and I'm too much of a perfectionist that I can't entertain the idea of RP on my phone. Also because I want logs.

RE: The Esports thread
@OldFrightful Stories and tournaments where the professionals do something off the wall and interesting is why I can't stand discussions about "the meta" at all. It's effectively a matter of public opinion and a fad, and then the pro players come out and say "sup y'all, here's some weird shit to mess with your heads", and then everyone copies them like it's a game of Lemmings.
That said, that's a great story and I don't play DotA at all (not very good at it) but I was able to follow it perfectly with what little I do know.
To use an example with a game I do flirt with (Overwatch), people have derided on Bastion and/or Symmetra for a long time, even after the latter got a rework to the point she had to get nerfed because someone finally started proving to the internet that "HEY, SHE RIPS PEOPLE APART IF IGNORED". It's crazy how people think they know everything until they're proven wrong, because they let the preconception of "the meta" prevent them from adapting or trying new things.

@dvoraen I see your Stormlight, and raise you the whole Cosmere.
If someone can pull off a successful, long-lasting game that touches on the entire Cosmere, I would be impressed, and I would probably "retire" from MU*ing because I don't think I'd ever see anything to top that. That said, I think the Cosmere itself is way too big in scope.

@Herja I don't know what it was or what happened; but I think I'm jealous I wasn't part of it. Does that count?
You and me both. One day. ONE DAY. I want to see some of these logs.

RE: What's your monitor setup?
@Auspice Turns out you are (at the time of this writing) 30% that heartless b. It's time for a profile update!
I own two monitors, myself, but I have not even come close to trying to get them working together because I reserve one for my console gaming.

RE: Wheel of Time
Unapologetic necro.
The main thing I think of when it concerns WoT as a theme for MU*ing is the power disparity, but since that and the other major points were already covered, this is where I'm at:
It would have to be virtually a homebrew theme loosely based on the books. Whether that includes notable locations and organizations such as the White Tower or not is one of the major questions. The reason I think it needs to be basically homebrew/customized has to do with addressing the channeler : non-channeler power ratio. Every PC being a channeler isn't precisely boring and stale, since channeling is a diverse system (who has what Talents and skills), but not every PC should necessarily be a channeler, considering that they are approximately 10% (I think that's the percentage) of the population at most.
This then leads to the other major point about why it should be a homebrew theme: a prevalence of ter'angreal that non-channelers can use. In essence, it would drive the theme closer to a kind of steampunk, I'd say, but the only thing that really makes sense to me is to up the role of ter'angreal in the setting, and that does include Power-disrupting devices, be they individual protection or area, as in Far Madding.
So yeah. I wouldn't say no to a MU*, but if it goes into a full-fledge skill/spell/etc. system, then there has to be some consideration given to those who would generally (but not necessarily always) get wrecked if it came to fighting people able to access the Source, and the only two solutions I can think of are either a) weak channelers; b) a means of combating channelers which typically will mean ter'angreal.

Scheduling A Thing that has a bunch of really fun players on it, and only afterwards realizing that I've scheduled their highly risky thing for 31 October.
Guess this thing just got even weirder.
MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.
If this (below) isn't the result of it, you and I are going to have words!

Are you grading the content or the grammar? Becaaaaaaaaaaaaaaause....I don't see no period after 'long'.
@Ghost You realize you technically spelled "because" wrong while discussing the correct use of English words and grammar, right?

Just want to say thank you for the secret that Staff gave my character. It was definitey an unexpected way to start the morning and not at all what I was imagining might come out of requesting a secret. I officially now have a million questions, a great plot hook, probably some RP that's gonna make my char look crazier than a shithouse rat, and I'm just thrilled.
This sounds accurate. When I got mine for my OC, this was basically my thought process:
EEEEEEEEEEEE! <= squeal of glee
(A little bit later)
"Ok... this makes no sense as to why it would be happening."
(Some time later, after an action.)
"I am so confused what just happened."It's fun to research!

I tried playing Chrono Trigger. I was quite eager to experience one of the most loved JRPGs of all time, but the lack of pausing in their semi-turn-based combat turned me off. Not entirely, but just enough.
The only JRPG I tried that I immediately liked was Breath of Death VII: The Beginning.
Did you change the option from Active to Wait? It at least pauses things from happening in combat if you have a menu open (items, skills, etc.)

RE: RL things I love
Lately I have really found myself grateful for the rise of streaming, but not so much TV in general so much as the fact that there are a number of people on YouTube, Twitch, etc. that really do interesting things that I find far more entertaining than scripted shows.
For instance, watching certain high-level gamers, or HornetKing's (YouTube) channel on bee/wasp nest removals and their behavior, and Li Ziqi's channel on rural Chinese life are some examples of content I find intriguing.
In general, though, I love that it's easier to find actual filmed content on specific subjects now, such as DIY wilderness survival.
