Google the ingredients you have. Pick the first/highest-reviewed thing that pops up. Cook it.

Chopped is a constant source of inspiration for me. Today, I used some vegetables from a tray -- carrot sticks, celery sticks, pepper sticks, grape tomatoes -- and diced them with some onions to make a nice ragout, with some old chili. Added some garlic powder, Tony Chatchere's creole seasoning, salt, and pepper. Tossed in some Papa John's garlic dipping sauce and some olive oil for the base.

Maybe give an extra alt slot JUST for villains? Ideas. Ideas.

On a game designed for clear antagonist lines, I think it's not a bad idea, especially where one may be limited to one or two alts.

But at that point, I can just say my character did a bunch of things and ... forego roleplaying the themes of the game I allegedly wanted to play.

Why would any reasonable player want to forego roleplaying the themes of the game that they want to play? The answer is simple: they don't.

Limiting renown to only what one receives through plots isn't unreasonable, but it makes the gathering of Renown tedious and boring in practice. This is because, whereas werewolves are generally spending 100% their time being hardcore spirit-bashers, players have less time to get their badass-ness on. And sometimes, a player just wants to sit around, smoke awakened plants, and talk some real wisdom with others -- or plan pack activities, or otherwise roleplay outside of a plot.

Allowing players to "fill in the blanks" with submitting Renown stories allows players to play what they want to play when they want to. Otherwise, they will be killing themselves, figuratively, getting into plot after plot, just to meet Renown demands. And that's probably not what you're aiming for.

If your only reason for eschewing alternate systems is "I don't think that's right," then I don't think you're giving the suggestion due consideration.

No, people are saying its polite to ask first, thus implying entitlement and control over a grid space, and the right to tell you no.

I think people have a right to control their RP, to a degree; that degree begins and ends when that RP affects others' ability to do the same. Sic utere tuo ut alienum non laedas, and all of that.

Fairest are the Faces. Ogres are the Muscle. Darklings are the Sneaks. Wizened are the Crafters.

This is true from a certain perspective. I looked at them as:

The Ogres are The Abused. The Fairest are The Cherished. The Wizened are The Enslaved. The Darklings are The Forgotten. The Beasts are The Hunted. The Elementals are The Crafted.

This is still very, very different from the roles in Werewolf. Werewolf is D&D, WoD-style.

People actually seem to respect me more as an unfeeling robot. When they get to know me, it's like they forget about this persona entirely.

If upvoting is any indication, people here seem to care more if they are amused with or connect with what you have to say, rather than whether or not they give a shit about who said it.

I sometimes wonder why fantasy/science-fiction settings have to copy our familiar forms of bigotry and discrimination for the sake of 'realism'.

      Another reason.

      1. Science-fiction/fantasy is often used as a mechanism to point out flaws or problems with our modern institutions, e.g., The Handmaid's Tale.

      @Lithium

      No, it's not.

I never said anything about absolute objectivity. I voiced my opinion (ha ha ha) that some opinions are worth more than others.

You said otherwise. And I think that's wrong.

Sure, we have emotional reactions to people. Those with a modicum of critical thought suppress that emotional reaction and can make a judgment contrary to that initial reaction.

If we didn't, we wouldn't have a viable justice system. Judges would simply make judgments based on what they feel: not according to law or facts, but emotions.

You say it's hard. I disagree. And I disagree with people who make snap judgments without consideration of available information.

And, yes, that's why we have Trump. Because many people are making judgments based solely on emotions. And their opinions are ignorant and therefore worthless.

I am just saying that opinions in and of themselves have only as much value as an individual places on it.

I didn't really get to this conclusion from what you wrote, but I concur.

Different things make an opinion valuable to different people and the only thing we can say, is what makes an opinion valuable to /us/.

Nor did I get to this conclusion from what you wrote, with which I disagree vehemently.

That is self-righteousness on an epic scale, the kind of thing that suggests they know better than anyone else what is best for everyone else.

And I don't think that this is the logical conclusion from pointing out what should have weight upon consideration.

It's not self-righteous for me to point out that you should probably consider a certified appraiser's opinion of your property value over that of a police officer that has seen it once, never seen comparable properties, and never undertaken a rental-value analysis. Some would call this "common sense."

Flat-earthers. Birthers. Anti-vaxxers. They all adhere to opinions that have been repeatedly shown to be contrary to science, law, and ethics. If you're suggesting that I should consider their opinions equal in weight to scientists, lawyers, and ethicists, I cannot agree with you.

Rush Limbaugh's opinions do not matter to you, and they should not matter to others. The last bit is an opinion, but it is one that I will bet you can and would defend.

I am not content in letting people wallow in ignorance. That may make me self-righteous, but I'd like to stand for something.

(Edit to add: I don't mean to suggest, @Lithium, that you are ignorant. Far from it. But there are others who are; very much so.)

I think the sentiment is sound, but the practice has left us cynical. There are countless stories of internet charity cases gone wrong, and countless stories of guilty victims, all of which are verified and relatable.

Ms. Lewinsky's sentiment unfortunately comes off as a sound-bite. It wasn't her intent. And someone out there will hook onto it, and ride it into the oblivion of meaninglessness.

To me, the real shame is not how the internet can make you feel worthless, but how the distance therefrom can make you feel forgotten.

      @Coin said in Fanbase entitlement:

You can't arbitrarily decide that people deserve to be more entitled in one medium or another just because of that, especially not in today's world where fandom is such a huge, huge, huge part of people's lives, to the point where being a fan of a TV show or book series is a hobby unto itself.

I don't think @lordbelh arbitrarily decided anything. He made a valid point regarding the difference between TV shows and MU*s.

You are an active participant in a MU*. Games live and die on the participation of players. Players invest time into games. The difference between watching a season of Jessica Jones and playing on a MU* on which you make the choices for Jessica Jones isn't thin. The difference between how TV shows are produced and how MU*s are produced is also not thin.

I have less sympathy for folks that watch the Harry Potter movies and bitch about its deviation from the books than for players that are playing Vampire: the Requiem by the book rules and have to deal with staff house ruling 50% of it, or staff that are favoring one Covenant blatantly over another.

I mean, you know @Sunny's story with Kushiel's Debut. Are you going to say that, as a fan of the game, she had no right to be pissed off when the game's staff starting screwing over the players that she personally invited over there?
