RE: MSB Peevesposted in Suggestions & Questions@surreality said in MSB Peeves: It wouldn't be so worthy of slamming my head into a wall if people went with an initial gut reaction, then considered whatever it is. I concur. I mean, I would love to eat the entirety of a Mongolian BBQ line, but I'd rather not shit myself.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuffposted in Tastes Less Game'y@Alamias said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff: It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you do it (because you wanted too. I am not one of those ex-smoker holier than thou you must quit types). That's kind of the thing, and I don't mean to bitch incessantly about it. One of the things that has served me well in life is not denying myself that which I want. I want something or I don't. Despite being a robot here, I simply do what I want in real life. I don't know how else to put it. I want to quit. But when I want to smoke, I want to smoke. I realize that these are mutual exclusive outcomes, but -- -- I suppose I have to learn to either love me or change me.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuffposted in Tastes Less Game'y@Alamias said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff: I know it sounds counter productive, but what really helped me quit smoking was vaping. This worked with me for a while. I had this little piddly machine, though, and it was a fucking nightmare to refill. Maybe I should go with something fancier and easier to load.
@TNP said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff: I didn't give myself a timeline. I didn't follow the timeline on any packages. I'm not either. I'm taking it one day at a time right now. I think what I'll do is what helped the last time: narrow down the scenarios. I used to not smoke at work or at home, and it made it easier to kick out the third stimulus: going out to drink. But, to be frank, I really like sitting and having a smoke over a bourbon. I don't smoke a pack a day or anything like that, but I pair it (often) with drinking. We'll see what happens. I'm on the Sunny (D) method at the moment, and I haven't murdered anyone. Lozenge time.

RE: Echoes in the Mists - CoD 2e MUposted in Adver-tis-mentsAlso want to put in that I've returned to the game. Still looking for potential packmates for my werewolf. My new vampire is substantially more sociable. And mages, whee! But, yeah, if you're looking to put a toe back into the water, now's a good time.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuffposted in Tastes Less Game'ySuper cool. There's nothing more important than your health, and how you feel about yourself. I'm even trying to quit smoking for the eleventy-billionth time, but I'm trying. Would be happy to assist in any way I can!

RE: What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?posted in Mildly Constructive@Sunny said in What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?: It just means that I think that 'enjoyment' has more weight than 'continuity' or even 'consistency'. All are still important to me, and there's a scale. I concur, but write separately to state that "continuity" and "consistency" can often be re-written to promote "enjoyment," but not always. If the adjustment to continuity and consistency results in diminishing the enjoyment for other players or staff, it needs to be questioned.

RE: What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?posted in Mildly Constructive@Derp said in What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?: It's like pulling teeth to get people to read the core books of the game I run, much less the wiki or news files. They just assume they're right and that I have no idea what I'm talking about. It is far easier to accept the ruling and adapt than to waste your time contesting a decision that will not be overturned no matter how loud you mewl.

RE: What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?posted in Mildly Constructive@faraday said in What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?: MUSH games are not very good about setting expectations of what kind of game they are, and players are not very good about respecting those boundaries even when they are established. I concur, but write to add that most players are simply unwilling to learn the rules of a novel game, and would prefer to twist it to suit their attitudes rather than adapt.

RE: What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?posted in Mildly Constructive@faraday said in What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?: I hear stories from @Thenomain about WoD games, or some other friends about comic games, and they may as well be as different from my experience as playing Bridge vs. playing Poker. Unsurprisingly, I enjoy playing both bridge and poker. Generally, I prefer the stratagem and outwitting in bridge. This, unsurprisingly, is how my MU life goes.

RE: Good or New Movies Reviewposted in Tastes Less Game'y@The-Sands said in Good or New Movies Review: Actually, I think part of the reason Sony may be biting back is because they realized that Marvel/Disney has put them in a bad (but not unfixable position). That may be part of it, but the rest of it is a matter of business. Sony realizes that they hold the cards that Disney wants, cannot move far with the IP alone (see, e.g., Venom), and apparently has few plans moving forwards. Their choices are to sit, lease, or sell, but leasing is only going to bring in value with one tenant. Selling is the most reasonable decision, but Disney isn't in the mood to buy. So, now Disney is being a crabby dickface. In the case of Fox it wasn't them being 'dumb'. They decided they were done with movies and wanted to get out clean. Granted, it was not a dumb idea, but given Disney's desire to pull in some of the IP, but not all of it, Fox could have exploited the situation better.

RE: Good or New Movies Reviewposted in Tastes Less Game'yI'm pretty sure that the Spiderverse is separate and distinct from Spiderman's involvement in the MCU. I believe Sony Animation handled it.

RE: Good or New Movies Reviewposted in Tastes Less Game'y@Coin said in Good or New Movies Review: So it doesn't matter if public opinion thinks "Man, disney are being jerks", because Disney still controls every other aspect of this franchise everybody loves, so the public will still prefer Sony capitulate, even if Disney is being a dick. It matters to people who are more than barely sentient, like me. But, yes, I suppose I should never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups.

RE: Good or New Movies Reviewposted in Tastes Less Game'y@Arkandel said in Good or New Movies Review: All of this isn't bluffing or base stupidity - it's just negotiating. Disney is using public opinion as leverage, making fans' outrage a factor in Sony's decision making. That's all fine and dandy until public opinion realizes that Disney is the company that's actually playing hardball here.
@Coin said in Good or New Movies Review: Disney has put too much effort, time, and money for them not to secure such a major part of what has become the largest film franchise in history. In ten years it surpassed thirty years worth of Star Wars. which they also own.
