Yeah, because Toronto isn't going fucking crazy right now, right?
XCOM 2: The War of the Chosen.
Ah, to play XCOM 2 again, and make it a joyfully-stressful experience. So much to do, so little time.

This is a yay simply because it makes it possible for me to cheer for GS in one round of the playoffs since the Lakers are the only team in the west that I would make that call on.
This is what revenge looks like.
LeBron has made it to the championship round 8 times in a row. He's aiming to make it 9 times. To do this, he will have to mud-stomp the Warriors, who just re-signed Durant. And he'll have the opportunity to do this with a team in need of a veteran leader with a proven pedigree.
It is a good move for competition, and it leaves the Eastern Conference ready for a new dynasty. Philly, Boston, and Toronto are ready for that, with the Knicks in the wings.
Hockey is still the best game you can name, but the NBA is looking more interesting.

Upvoted for the shot at Michael Bay at the end, good god i have never been so disappointed in a movie as I was with the first Transformers one. I am fine with the changed they made to the Transformers themselves and the story but what I don't want in my movie about Giant Robot Shooting Each Other is for it to spend far more time on Teen Love Story than the aforementioned giant robots shooting.
And now they are rebooting the series, and I'm happy with that. Maybe they'll follow the classic comic line, having named the protagonist "Charlie."

It's because "most valuable" is such an ambiguous term. They should have really called it "best" player.
Without LeBron, the Cavs are nothing. Without Harden, the Rockets are nothing. To their teams, they both are their most valuable players.
LeBron's numbers are simply better across the board than Harden. LeBron got farther into the playoffs. Sure, he didn't give the Warriors much of a challenge, but Harden had Chris Paul with him. LeBron is the better player.
So, LeBron is the better player, and the most valuable one on his team, and arguably the most valuable player to the fucking league based on his level of play.
Being tired of voting for the same dude is a stupid reason to ignore statistics, results, and what everyone fucking knows to be true.
@thatguythere said in The Basketball Thread:
The Rockets did take the Warriors to seven, not discounting the greatness of LeBron at all but as much as I dislike the style the Rockets played and the Flopping Beard in general the should not be seen as a definite out by anybody.
I still don't understand how LeBron didn't win the MVP this year.

The Brood.

@mail faraday=Hello -Hey! @mail/proof @mail/send
is harder to figure out than clicking on "Faraday", picking "Mail", then clicking on "Send".
Unless you don't know where to find the Mail button, are not aware that you need to click on Faraday in order to select a recipient, and then think that the Compose button is the equivalent of Send.
I think I've said it before, but a nice webpage that clearly states how to do certain key, elementary functions would make the experience more user-friendly without having to invest in substantial content development.

Typically these folks have these ideas of what the reality of sex/romance/intimacy is that's hopelessly skewed. This bit in particular isn't necessarily gendered, either. As in, a lot of guys may expect a relationship that looks like their favorite porno, but that's not much different than the women who expect a relationship that's like their favorite romance novel. Both are not standard reality or a reasonable expectation to have from day to day life.
Thankfully, my romantic life was guided by Calvin and Hobbes.

Not familiar with the Santa Fe reference, link? It sounds like something to get pissed off about on some level.
Kid purportedly goes on rampage because girl repeatedly rejected him; girl was one of the victims.
Well, if she wasn't going to let him plow her, I suppose her country and people were reasonable surrogates.
I'm not really horrified. And I don't think her people died for God. I just think it's wrong for people to go to war over bitches they want to bang. And if there's a lesson to be learned, it isn't that you should let yourself be coerced into a relationship because someone wants to stick their dick in you, even if that means thousands of people die.
That girl in Santa Fe did nothing wrong, even if it may have resulted in her death and that of her classmates.
That said, valorizing anyone for their religious beliefs is vainglorious, at best.

So help me, I adore my mother, but she drives me crazy. She's well meaning. She is. Her intentions are good.
I hear this a lot. I tell my clients: if someone accidentally does something good despite their intentions or beliefs, that does not erase the contemptible reasons for which they did it.

Just please stop stating this as a requirement for survival because new college students don't think it's shiny enough or think something else is more fun for them these days.
I must have missed where Faraday said anything remotely close to this.

Disregarding the opinions of others is a very enlightened and forward thinking way to live your life, Mr. President.
Apparently, you have not read the opinion in Yah-Huh v. Uh-Uh.

I don't do reviews, because reviews are just someone else's fart.
I mean opinion.
I'm pleased to hear that you have neither.

I don't think it's unrelated though. Like MUDs and MUSHes get grouped together interchangeably on a lot of sites but we know there's some really core philosophical differences in how they are presented for a lot of them, with a lot of MUDs being a MMO writ small while a MUSH being a tabletop writ large. This also means a different approach towards new players, where the former is going to be a lot more automated because a reactive environment is a core part of their game philosophy, while the latter is about getting players into RP situations with other players.
I disagree.
My experience on MUDs has largely been negative. I had difficulty acclimating to the commands and the system. I read over the manuals and help files, but it wasn't clicking. And when I asked about it, I was told brusquely that everything is crystal clear.
Like technical manuals.
While MUSHes are more reliant on having a welcoming atmosphere, having a welcoming atmosphere, in my opinion, is the sine qua non of whether any MUD or MUSH survives. You could have staff and people creating plots and battles to play through, but if they are all dickbags the place is going to fall apart.
@lithium said in A new platform?:
Uh. We get new players.
I know several who are brand new to MU*'s. I myself have brought new people into the game.
I concur.
I am enjoying a lot of the discussion here between developers that clearly have a lot of ideas, experience, and skill. And I like the discussion about how the medium could be updated.
But we also need to do what Lithium is doing, and we need to make sure our gaming environment is as helpful and welcoming as possible. Not that games don't do this, but, let's face it, we've all been on games where people seem loathe to actually help people.
That's a topic for another day. But, as one of the old farts around here, I ain't afraid of no new platform, bitches, so you best get going on that shit.

I don't think anyone should be on the highest court if they cannot practice the law.
(He's not admitted to any bar in the country, to my knowledge.)
Harriet Miers was far more qualified.
