Wanted: Concepts and PCs for a Good-Guy Cadre
Get your white hat on.
I play Madison at City of Shadows MUX, which is a CoD / WoD 2E game featuring Vampires, Werewolves, and Changelings. It is located here:
http://cityofshadowsmux.com/wiki/Main_Page
Due to the setting, the in-set hostilities or fears between the supernatural races are minimized in favor of a city-wide mutual-assistance agreement known as the Accord. Due to the system, it is entirely possible to have groups consisting of supers, non-supers, and other-supers; for example, a pack could feasibly consist of vampires, werewolves, changelings, mortal+, and mortals. So, yes, this means the game is ripe for troupe-play, and this is what I'm pitching.
I'd like to put together a Cadre (another word for a 'mixed-group' of PCs) focused on making Chicago a better place, particularly the less-fortunate parts of the city. Madison is a new-ish detective / Ithaeur who's born-and-raised in the Second City. She'd be open to just about anyone that aligns with her principles as a Cadre-member.
As y'all probably know, I play super-casual, but I keep active via @mail and OOC communication (but not Discord). I play often during business hours EST, but I do have some weekday evenings available and Sunday evenings are set in stone as RP_OK (because of sportsball).
If interested in joining, please PM here or @mail me on the game.

I am grateful on a daily basis that my direct supervisor is tech-savvy. So I can drop him a note in Teams saying 'hey, my bandwidth dropped to like.. 3mbps down around 2am, I had to restart the router to clear the noise off the line and refresh the signal, back up and running by 2:20!' and he actually understands. I've told him each time I've had a tech out to check the lines or fix issues, so I haven't lost any time trying to get Comcast to play straight with me.
I don't understand much of the above, but I have learned in my years that accepting an expert's explanation and noting the event is more effective and less stressful. Like, if this keeps happening? I know I have a problem and I can talk to my employee about what we can do to make it not happen.
But then, I'm not an M.B.A. graduate, so --

I have also joined. It helps that I know the person who runs it. And that I helped write some of it long ago.
I can be found there as Madison.
(I don’t hide well.)

RE: 7th Sea with Ares?

Unless you want a weird fruit salad of a skill system, you shouldn't try to combine them.
Please do not judge my tastes.
But I concur. I'd go with FS3 or 7th Sea. I'd lean towards FS3 because it is better suited for large-scale combat.

Weeeeeeeell, I don't know what game you're on now. Last game we were on together was Arx. But that last time I had a character flirt at yours was... the female vampire with the hat. Which was... Fallcoast? The Reach? One of those.
It was The Reach, and that was Ripley. She also was crazy.
That was Oz, and I think it was Reno 1.0.

I tried to flirt with your female vamp! She just.. never really took the bait. Probably because I'm terrible at flirting. >.>
Same. I'm not good with it. My new PC will be a werewoof, though. I think she'll be fun.
But you do play an exceptionally good psycho, whichever the gender.
Max was pretty normal. Maddy was definitely psycho.

As a female player, I highly recommend everyone 'covertly' play a female character at least once. The experience is wild. And not in a good way.
Except for me, of course, but I get wicked action as a dude.

I guess I just give off the impression that I’d probably throat-fuck with Celerity and Vigor because that seems like the sort of thing I would do.
And that’s not really anyone’s thing, unless they were in anaphylactic shock.

“Me so horny.”

I hear what you are saying, but I am saying that this kind of conflict is boring. Not to mention prevalent in our lives and distasteful in our pretendy-fun times.
Especially when there is so many other kinds of conflict to engage in.

All snark aside, I've had moments in RP where I'm getting pages asking what my RL kinks and fetishes are roughly 30 seconds into RP, and any attempt to roleplay something other than hardcore flirtation seemed to be a nuisance to whatever text-based mating call process the other player was up to.
No offense, bud, but where did the fuck did you used to play? Because I created and played a fuckbunny and still struggled to consistently drum up fuckfriends.
Seriously, I must give off some goddamned dread aura of unfuckability, but even praying mantises get more action than I do.
@faraday said in The All-New Down With OPP Thread:
I'm not saying nobody can ever play a bad person, I'm just saying you have to go out of your way to make sure you're not making other players uncomfortable.
I think it's fucking unimaginative.
"I'm sexist -- I'm evil!" No, you're sexist and you're boring. Evil isn't what you believe; it's what you do. Ask anyone: hardline religious zealots are not scary because their beliefs are evil, but because the lengths to which they are willing to follow them lead them to clearly evil ends.
The last villainous PC I played probably wasn't considered evil until she showed it, and, Lord, Tzimisce know how to show it.

RE: Movie / TV / Streaming Peeves or Whatever
If Netflix drops it, HBO will get it shortly.

RE: The All-New Down With OPP Thread
I think that your approach was just fine. You held a genuine belief that turned out to be untrue. It won’t be the last time you do this.
Reputations get hurt. This happens. You made a mistake. This too happens. Everyone with torches and pitchforks is as absurd as you would imagine.

RE: Movie / TV / Streaming Peeves or Whatever
But there's more to that quote, right? It's from pp. 325-326 from QotD, according to my search. And in that, Lestat points out that the entire sexual or sensual experience is still extremely pleasurable.
I mean, sure, banging is pointless, but the quote itself states that the organ was "poised as if ready for what it would never again know how to do or want to do[.]" My take is that Lestat is aware that his penis won't impregnate someone again, but he's still staring at the fact that it was "poised" and ready to go. This seems supported by the reference to Priapus, a Greek / Turkish god of fertility.
That said, I'm with you about being hesitant.

RE: The All-New Down With OPP Thread
I appreciate you providing the explanation that you did not have to, or want to, provide.
I know everyone involved. I have known them for a while. I’m just sad.

RE: Kay's Playlist: Crucible City (first one),TR & HM & Darkwater etc
Can you provide a review of the game when you can? I am thinking of dipping my toes back in, and WoD is a familiar, warm blanket.

RE: RIP, Brus
Addendum: I'm almost positive that Brus was the first to coin the word "dinosaur" to describe a PC that has been around so long, and gained so much XP, that they were a problem for the game.

RE: The All-New Down With OPP Thread
This highlights just how old, grumpy, and oblivious to standards of RP I am.

RE: RIP, Brus
I am genuinely sad.
Brus was a true gentlemen. I never saw him lose his shit. He had strong opinions, but they were thoughtful and insightful.
The world is worse now.
