On the plus side, CP2077 is slated for April and if BL2 comes out 3-4 months later, then I won't have to choose my favorite child between BL2 (was March) and CP2077 (April). This way I can play out CP for a while.

And ohmygod I will go full "Wesley Snipes in New Jack City" on anyone who tells me today that CP is delayed, too

Just because you believe something happened in whatever delusional situation you're saying occurred, doesn't mean it actually occurred.
Accusing someone of being ultimate levels of toxic for saying something you don't agree with in a private 1 on 1 scene is actual gaslighting.

Accusing someone of being delusional when they say something occurred is actually gaslighting.

Someone accusing someone else for being toxic for saying something that they don't agree with is "having a disagreement on whether or not something said was proper."

Chiding a woman for not being responsive to your flirtations is a form of negging.

    • RE: Eliminating social stats

Double post but a followup afterthought to above post.

Back in my Vampire LARP days there was this concept I talked about a lot called playing the player. It's basically a metagaming tactic where despite the hobby's intention to be about playing a role and being in-character, I found that people were using their understanding of other players to thwart or outmatch them IC.

      • If Brad always plays sneaky characters then despite his new character appearing as an honest character, I will never trust his character and always triple-validate everything he says...because BRAD
      • Jane always smiles when she's lying.
      • Nick always plays power combat characters so I'm not going to involve his new character in my role play scene because NICK

MU suffers from a lot of this. Many people take their queues from existing OOC knowledge of the other players and apply it to role play, rather than let the characters speak for themselves.

I feel the post above would help mitigate some of this.

Too fucking bad? People clamored for alts on RfK, but the absence of alts was one of its best policies.
Many people have disagreed with my point of view, but I believe that players need to invest in their characters more. If you cannot get your PC into RP for whatever reason, switch PCs. Keep trying, or don't try, whatever you choose.

I'm 100pct with you on this, as well.

Especially on games with rosters or FCs, if you're having trouble finding RP or getting into a character, the answer is to drop the FC and make a different one.

There's a menagerie factor when it comes to FCs on hero games. When someone has an interest in dropping a character, they have to question whether or not they could get the character back if they want to return to it. So you tend to see a lot of I'll hang onto this FC and hope I can do something with it, but I don't want to get rid of them while I'm RPing with my active character...just in case.

This inevitably leads to FCs being played just enough to meet activity requirements, but are largely on the back burner.

Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan?

I'm loving it. I wish a dozen games like this came out in a year. I LOVE what they're doing tying a central character like "The Curator" into the game series as a narrator and am excited as fuck for the next one, Little Hope.

Lol yeah I felt the list of their totally nonbiased misdeeds including "has minions" "crap talked someone" and "was a contributor in the MSB/BMD split" was both healthy and empirical.

Let's not use that term "healthy" too liberally, now, lest "Played Hogwarts Legacy on PS5" and "Prefers Thor2 to Thor3" end up on their "rap sheet" lol.

One alt should work fine if the scope of the game is tighter.

One alt on a game where everything is open (all marvel/dc chars) might leave Star Lord all alone in space while everyone plays at Xavier's.

But if the scope is ONLY mutants at Xavier's, one char should be more than enough.

I've read the logs in question and agree that it's characters making bad choices, but the leap from that to SA (which I think is unfairly accused) sets off some red flags when paired with the fact that the other player wanted to keep info about your scenes private.

I'm curious. Was the admin who banned @Macha and turned this into a super public SA accusation involved romantically with this Isaac character on one of their PCs? It feels like something critical is missing from the equation.

      • Player doesn't want to make details of your scenes public
      • Macha reaches out to admin to ask questions about player
      • Suddenly, admin bans player, explodes in SA accusation publicly, decides to shut game down

I've seen similar situations before where a player wanted to RP "intimate" stuff with other female characters, but wanted to compartmentalize who knew the scenes were taking place out of fear of ramification. Eventually the person they don't want to find out about the scenes does (which could have happened when you messaged admin), and it turns into an explosion, accusations, etc. If this player told the admin it was "forced" on them to save their own skin, this whole thing starts to make more sense.

I feel like my gut telling me that "game owner" was ICly involved with this Isaac, found out by player who accidentally asked questions, Isaac gets questioned, says it was forced on him, admin explodes in SA accusation but closes the game down due to feeling betrayed...makes a little more sense than calling what happened in these logs sexual assault.

As for the accusation and what's going on at that other place? Don't sweat it @Macha . Thems just a bunch of confirmation bias sharks reveling at the scent of blood in the water so they can claim moral high-ground with eachother after bullying the shit out of someone. Apparently abusing people for a "good reason" excuses people from being abusers so long as their peers/fellow abusers give them high fives for it!

Edit: I've been informed the site was taken offline? So no logs, details, etc can be researched. Yeah. Somethin isn't adding up. This feels fishy

So 2 chars total. Out of the gate you can take 1 FC and 1 OC?

That sounds reasonable to me. That should also sound reasonable to anyone who wants to support the player base in finding FCs to play from a community standpoint. It's fair.

Someone ran away from me in For Honor yesterday. It felt awesome.

For you For Honor players, I was playing a Raider managing point B in Dominion mode. I was hacking apart those little NPC assholes. A guy (Orochi) ran up to me to fight and I took him down to about 1/3rd health when a Conqueror ran up to help him, which put me in a 2v1 situation. I grabbed the Conqueror, threw him into a fire to get him to fuck off. For about 5 seconds I was godly. 2v1 and I'm shoving people around and controlling the fight. I killed the Orochi (non execution) and then the Conqueror tried to cold cock my Raider. Two seconds later I executed the Conqueror with a neck snap.

2 dead bodies at my guy's feet within 2-5 seconds of each other.

I go back to clearing out the little fighter NPC guys but keep an eye on the spawn point because both guys died within seconds of each other, so were likely to respawn together and maybe retry the 2v1.

Orochi respawns. I watch him run out towards me...Stop...Then run to capture another point.

Conqueror respawns, runs out towards me, stops, watches for a few seconds, then runs off to capture another point.

Fuck. Yeah. Making yourself a living embodiment of "fuck that, not doing that again" felt great.

Then again, someone could just confirm "yes" or fuckin "no" and everyone who speculated looks stupid, but instead the focus is on the definitive differences between accusation, speculation, inference, fracas, ruckus, etc.

This whole situation is dumb and dishonest, and as far as I'm concerned at this point the missing link between everything is okay and sudden uninvolved 3rd party accusations of SA, a Ruiz spotting, and the game being quickly shut down lies in whatever reason the accuser won't answer that question.

None of us are new to drama like this and this would probably be the 600th iteration of "got pissed and burned everything down."

    • RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?

@seraphim73 said in Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?:

@faraday said in Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?:

And yeah, I don't know who "Sean Teale" was at a glance either, but all it took was one photo on a wiki page and now the new guy on BSG is cemented in my brain as "that guy from Gifted". That is the power of wikis for me.

This is actually one of the major dangers (Major Danger salutes) of wikis for me. Because just because the new guy from BSG looks like "that guy from Gifted," does he have the same voice? The same accent? Some of the same personality quirks?

I've fallen into that trap myself when picking PBs at times, incorporating personality traits or quirks from some of the characters that actor has played--and I ended up disappointed with myself as I was playing Vin Diesel the Whitecloak, or Drew Boley (Diego Boneta's Rock of Ages character) the Space Rocker. I've noticed other people doing it too, and before PBs, it was a lot less common.

      Agreed 100%.

See, the basis of these games is writing and describing. I love wikis for 3 things:

      1. Logs
      2. Organization of things like factions and an easier to read format (mouse use!) for theme and rule information
      3. They make an easy way to sort of advertise your character to newcomers (hey, this character seems interesting, I'll nudge them for rp)

I've seen a decline away from the writing side of MUs over the years. Things like descs have been slowly replaced with PBs. PBs have turned largely into role playing the actor playing the character, which one one hand helps me understand the mannerisms of the character when they're acted out, but really it just seems like a shortcut crutch to me. Few seem to ever role play a character with Robert Downey Jr as a PB for visual purposes alone, but they role play Robert Downey Jr as...

More and more I think many people are using OOC information gleaned thru wikis and taking this information into their role play, rather than putting the focus on the IC play. While I approve of descing while playing, I tend to get a lot of image links rather than descriptive prose.

So, I guess all I'm saying is that the writing aspect of the hobby is important to me, and I'm getting tired of PBs and wiki pages of hot people. We have people who avoid role play because of PB selection or because this persons wiki makes them look like a TS whore so I'm going to avoid them (I've heard this personally), and the dreaded wikistalking.

I just think it's a gradual shift from writing and being descriptive, and I'd like to see more games focus on that. I'd rather see wikis focus less on PBs and more on images of things that represent the character in artistic ways.
