Yeah, some time after 1 a.m. EST, it looks like there were no completed connections to the forums. This morning, I did a fresh install after all of the 504s and 502s yesterday due to memory issues. I'm keeping an eye on memory usage right now and will try to keep tabs on it throughout the day.

RE: XP gain
I see the discount and time reduction as an incentive to do a more natural growth to your PC; 200 capped XP essentially netting you an additional 20xp for playing the long game. If I were to go this route, I'd remove the justification entirely, and just give that discount to those that choose to spend their XP post-CG and on the timed system. The exact discount and time requirement might need some adjustment to make sure the incentive is tempting enough to encourage a longer game. I also think 200xp is a lot in GMC.
A side thought, a reverse buy-up where you can purchase something at 110% of cost to get a significant reduction in time to completion, for those montage sequences in kung-fu. Just a thought.
How would you handle a power level shift in the game? Just raise the maximum cap people can spend to? Allow for immediate usage by those already on game who miss the opportunity to spend it in CG?

RE: Topics and the Groups they can belong to
@HelloRaptor
For you: http://imgur.com/gallery/SjcgEETA: I'm also thinking about redoing the theme to mimic imgur's commenting. With a 140 character limit. Thanks for the inspiration!

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
@Cobaltasaurus You could perhaps go with a flotilla concept. A main galleon type with smaller ships as part of a grand pirate fleet. With some rules for what it means to be part of the flotilla, you could get your individual crews, or just members of the "main" galleon and the opportunity for smaller boats to head to a port and catch up later, or go off on resource gathering, raiding, defense, etc, etc.
This would, of course, force a narrower theme and wouldn't cater to /all/ play styles, but I think it'd be broad enough to give people niches and a bit of exploration and freedom while still sticking to the theme of the high seas.

RE: Upcoming Changes
I'll be helping with the move, so I'll try to make it as smooth as possible, including setup and whatnot on the new server. I don't expect too much downtime from it outside of the usual transfer of data and domain name transfer process.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@Ganymede That is patently false. The information, visualization and documentation tools of all trades are moving toward digital mediums. Some more slowly than others, but you are wrong to claim otherwise.
If you want your kids to have basic hand-writing skills in case of some technological apocalypse, that's fine, but you're still wrong about "how shit's done in real life."

Testing... there we go.
All right, you should be able to use the upload button now.

RE: Evennia - a Python-Based Mu* Server
@ThatOneDude That's an awful idea for Evennia, because it's much like giving every character on a MU a wizbit.
@ThatGuyThere Those are all systems that would do better as globals created by a coder that allows for usage of those systems (up to, and including, a generic room builder). This is a system that wouldn't need to allow for in-game scripting in the style of MU soft-code. It's just that no one has made those systems in Evennia yet.
Like @Thenomain said, it is the mutli-descer coder, or the person that makes their own deck of cards for poker, or an eight-ball object. It's the tinker level of coding that can't be done in Evennia, but which I argue should not be necessary for a game. The gains for usability, extensibility and maintainability outweigh the occasional person's inability to write tinker code on your game.

RE: Ignore users
It's not that I hated you all and was denying it out of spite. Everytime it was brought up, people would google-fu me with the plugin (that I found a long time ago) and it was never actually complete. I checked on it rarely, but it was WTFE's most recent request for it that prompted me to look again. Except for the lack of english translations, it seems to work fairly well. You can also go to your own user page and see the list of ignored users you have from the dropdown menu.

RE: Good TV
Is two days really necromancy? Isn't that more like necromancer in training? Or just this side of Addam's family?

RE: Would you play a MU* replacement?
I'd check out Evennia. The dev drops by here to talk about it and it's pretty far along. It might not be what you're looking for, but it's definitely a possibility.
