RE: XP Rollover
@HelloRaptor Except the power curve isn't part of the player setting. You're all neonates or apprentices. The elders and masters are NPCs. It is a problem with the conversion of a tabletop to an always-on game that runs for multiple years and has a steady influx of new people. Arguing that there is a power curve in the setting is ridiculous, as most settings attempt to provide a societal framework of some sort, which almost invariably includes haves and have-nots.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
I tried. I even read the first book, but the setting and themes just didn't do it for me. My impression from trying it was pleasant overall, however, and anything non-WoD generally gets a thumbs up from me too.

@GangOfDolls Should be working now. Give it another try and let me know? Thanks.

RE: Make us love your favorite game
FFG Star Wars is a lot of fun. The dice are insane upon first reading, and second, and maybe 15th, but the first time you actually play it's pretty easy to understand. The system is really unique, plays to much of the feel of Star Wars and I like that your base attributes are set forever outside of some talents, meaning most of the focus is on skills/talents. There are also a lot of options for races and a wide range of play, from being a rebel pilot to a Hutt merchant. Also? Star Wars.
Another one that I'd really like to play, but haven't had the opportunity, is Symbaroum. It also sticks to the never changing base attributes, but has more traditional dice. In a way, it is standard fantasy fare, but I really dig the setting and I like the small differences in setup and character choices.

RE: Unverified accounts
@Insomnia Anyone that maybe made an account to read, and maybe keep their place, but never post, who has not verified their account, will be deleted. They can continue to not post if they like, after verifying.
This is solely for housekeeping purposes. If someone would like an account it must be verified, that is all. What they do with the account after that point is entirely up to them.

RE: Book suggestions
@Coin I've read Dresden, Pratchett, the Percy Jackson books and the Death-Gate Cycle (which I read when I was a lot younger and thought it was great). I also read the Earthsea Cycle even younger, but I don't remember that one as well. The tropes site is a good place to look and I'm browsing through it now.
@2mspris I got Dead to Me just now and will give it a read. Thanks!

Two potential solutions:
- Allow just one (supernatural? overall?) alt. This way at least you are discouraging people who intend to play in your game at all from parking characters in its spheres.
I don't have any problem with this. If you want a slot restricted super, it's your only super.
- Define then hardcode an activity requirement. It's not so hard, it's just that everyone will define it in a way that makes sense for them, so you'll need to pick one. My personal pitch is something that goes kinda like this (more refinement is needed but just to get an idea):
I think this is an awful idea. Coded checking of activity is never going to do what it needs to do because there will never be a point that its benefits outweigh its annoyances and contrivances.
A sphere leader will have an idea of how much they, and their sphere staffers, can handle based on current activity by however many people they have in the sphere. Staff resources are often unevenly distributed across players due to the general level of attention some need versus others and there is no way to quantify that through automated code.

How-To Contest
Contest!
In the interest of filling out our How-Tos section a bit, we'll be having a content contest for the category. It'll be judged by @EmmahSue, @Thenomain and myself and will end June 30th, 2016. You must provide a link to the How-To in a response to this message noting that it is your entry. You may make multiple entries if you so choose, but can only win one of the prizes. This topic will be locked at midnight EST of the ending date.
Judging
While there are many MU-related possibilities for a tutorial, the following are criteria that will be used in the judging:
- Expand on a topic relevant to game administration: coding, building, wiki, jobs, etc.
- Cover a topic not already presented in the How-Tos category or offer a different approach.
- Provide links to sources of additional information if possible or relevant.
- Make use of markup (highlights, code-blocking, headers, etc) for presentation.
Prizes
First Place: $40.00
Second Place: $20.00
Third Place: $10.00All prizes will be delivered via paypal to an e-mail designated by the winners.
Questions?
Feel free to post questions for clarification or further information in this topic. Entrants, please make sure your entry is clearly marked when replying.

There's always a chance. The chance that you apply "in time", the chance that you know that it's coming, the chance that your @mail gets through before someone else's. I am in no way trying to be pedantic about the word "chance" here, but to stress what @Coin is also saying: The goal is to minimize shittiness.
You are being pedantic, even if it's in service to trying to make a point.
I'd say to ignore the fringe cases, but there are so many of them that a different problem-solving philosophy needs to take place, even if just to determine which cases are actually fringe.
There's really not. Accounting for every fringe case with a variety of philosophies is ten steps too far in over-analyzing. Besides, @Eerie and @Coin continue to stress that no rule is "concrete" and they'll "re-evaluate" decisions after some given time-frame, so all of this conjecture about the possibility of some fringe cases is overmuch.
I'm currently still leaning toward: 1 or 2 week notice, 2 days application, lotto. I personally want people with no supers to get first pick in a supers sphere, but I have been convinced that this is not a de-facto good thing.
The impression I'm getting is that these big requests for discussion go up, but they've already hunkered down. They certainly don't need anyone's approval, but it's the impression I'm left with and I think there's too much cart before the horse decision-making in the name of "preparation".

RE: Third Sphere Question.
@RDC Why not just take the visitor powerset, remove the alien sex death urge, and call it done? They use gifts, just say they're spirit provided, rather than horny brain aliens.

RE: What Do You Love About WoD?
@Coin It's not that @Arkandel is saying everyone everywhere doesn't use it, but that it is the case for a majority. I don't know if he's right or not, but there's always going to be some small group that enjoys some slice of something that most don't like. When the game then changes because a majority finds it less than compelling, they become "filthy casuals".
From the discussion so far, I think you're probably in the minority. It doesn't make you wrong for enjoying the game like you do, but it also doesn't make you representative.
