I wouldn't dare throw my dice down to MAKE someone do Thing X. That's not my style. But apparently it's someone else's idea of fun.
I've rolled social die maybe twice in a PrP. One was an amazing interaction with an NPC. A total validation of pumping into social skills, my character was able to be vital to the plot in a way that wasn't stabbing at the enemy weakly.
I did comment on my app.
I never, ever want to seem pushy or impatient. RL comes first. It was just weird and I was curious. I'll keep waiting if I have to.
And I'm James. That's the app I'm waiting for.
As defined by Reddit, where this idea is totally stolen from: In simplest terms, a shower thought is a miniature epiphany that makes the mundane more interesting.
Sometimes, I will be walking my pup or daydreaming and I'll go: "Oh. My. God. That is why my character does thing X!" and suddenly, a random quirk that my character does is brought into a deeper and sharper focus. Making my character more complete in my mind.
We're a creative bunch, I can't be alone in this. Character, plot, theme...we all have those moments. Those little epiphanies. Have you had any lately?
All my characters lead lonely existences before play. One was a homeless drifter. One was a work from home guy. Another was just a drunk that pushed people away. Hell, the celebrity one was surrounded by yes men but he was oh so lonely.
They all end up having the same goal underneath it all. Resolve the loneliness. Reach out. The successful characters manage to do that.
I don't know why I keep following this pattern.
If spellcasting didn't confuse the fuck outta me, I'd be more excited. I'm still in. Just...um...gonna need some handholding. Sorry. (Not sorry)
@seraphim73 Haha, that's actually it. I'm stupidly shy so it's probably just a well practiced shorthand to have my character actually seek people to talk to. Playing extroverts is my other way. It's a lot of fun to play someone who is the opposite of myself.
That cheat sheet posted was actually helpful. Suddenly it seems basic enough. I dunno.
I have a very high tolerance for bullshit. I am patient and kind to all. I do my best to treat everyone with appreciation and care.
But I am less likely to come back for that second or third scene when:
Poses without substance. This one is hard for me to describe. I see it a lot in WoD players with a narrow focus. This character is X. And that's all. Fat. A witch. Good ol' boy. Magic. Religious. I suppose, it's flat characters and their flat characterization as their poses revolve around the One Thing that is their character. And it's like that is every scene. I'll take a pass on that. Not because I'm a snob, pfft. Naw. It's hard to put hooks into a character that's only going to discuss his love of comics or whatnot.
Blatant disregard for pose readability. I'm not talking about people with difficulties with words or typing. I'm not dragging the ESL-ers. I'm taking about the step above chat speak types that just oozes lazy. If I can't read it, I can RP with it. Even if I try very hard, it's usually not worth it. If you don't care, why should I?
TS pressure. I don't mind TS at all. I'm DTF. It's not something I seek out at all but under the right IC circumstances and with OOC communication, I'll go all night bay-bee. But when I was playing women, I always had this problem. You can almost feel the ickiness through the screen as they are pushing me in a way I am not comfortable. And given my usual laid back nature, I make it pretty clear when I don't wanna. If you push me? Consider yourself cut off. I don't have this problem playing men. Hrm.
I'm getting better at this Mage creation thing. I kinda understand spell casting! Except rotes. I don't understand rotes.
I'm really into documentaries for inspiration. Probably because I didn't really get into fantasy and sci-fi until I was an adult and I always start from this base of reality when I get into creative mode.
I have disabled vet for a character now. What's in my streaming lists? Only everything I can hoover up about the war in Iraq, veterans, and life and times in the military.

I've been with Fallen World since the beginning and I've had a blast. I barely even understood Mage when I started but everyone is so nice and helpful that I'm kinda understand Mage now. Ha!

Rising doubt and anxiety had straight up murdered one or two relationships in this hobby for me. Once the monster convinces you that you are trash and that is why X or Y is happening, it's all downhill. And Goldfish says and does stupid shit. I take full responsibility but I know now that it's not me being crazy, it's anxiety hacking my GPS and telling me all the wrong directions.
I'm in a creative crisis. I'm feeling bankrupt and spread thin and my anxiety is on the rise. I share because I know I need to take a day or two and clear my head but it's like...everything is on a deadline and I keep kicking the can down the road. After I finish this CG or after this batch of jobs or after I lock down X, Y and Z.
Meanwhile, all my creative endeavors feel like shit. ALL. This is fucked up.
Mental fatigue is a thing too. So, y'all take care of yourselves
The Gathering and the internet's coverage of it is like Xmas to me. I'm not a fan but I love Juggalos. So passionate.
Plans for Confidant to be an undercover FBI agent investigating the "gang" but gets sucked into the culture anyway

Okay, everybody.
At exactly 8pm CST on March 1st, we will be leaving soft RP and going live.
This means a few things:
* XP spends will be open, but for a time all spends must go through Staff via a +request.
* XP may be gained through means other than your weekly allowance. Which means you may gain beats through aspirations, PrPs, breaking points,
and all those funky fun things.
* Game plots will kick off in short order, so you'll be wanting to watch +events for happyfuntimes.
* ICA will really and for true mean ICC.
* You will have until 3/14/19 to make any minor respec changes to your sheet that reflects stuff that didn't work for you during soft open.
Please be patient as we here on staff side wrangle with what will likely be a huge influx of jobs. It may take more time than normal to see a response.
The wiki will still be a work-in-progress, but most major information should be there and we're hoping to have character pages ready for you.
In addition, some more specialized things coming down the pike may not be fully in place yet.
