As far as boss talkings-to go, it opens crappy but the offer to help was unexpected. Dunno how I feel about it.

I've begun retaking my daily multivitamin. Will report any increase in functionality after a week.
Boilerplate reminder that while multivitamins are better than nothing, most of their content goes straight through your system without doing you any good, so it's better to get your vitamins from your diet. That said, good on you for taking care of yourself.
@cobaltasaurus Good god, I hope you're alright. That's very concerning. I hope you consider erring on the side of caution.
@jennkryst Ah, sorry. I thought you were talking about 300 Solar&c/300 Lunar/100 Sidereal.
@jennkryst said in Interest Check: Exalted 3rd ed Mu:
@surasanji Did 3e keep the 300/300/100 shard cap?
Nope. Exaltation is no longer a known quantity with known rules. It's a miracle that the rest of us can only try to figure out by extrapolation. And yes, there are new kinds of Exalted! In addition to the Getimians (anti-Sidereals) and Liminals (animated corpses), there are the Exigent Exalted, which could be created by any god desperate enough to pay the price to make them. I don't believe we have rules for any of them yet, though.

I can't care about things for my sake or for their own sake, but thinking of the people relying on me has been a good (not perfect, but good) motivator.
@tek said in How are you coping with COVID (and other 2020 fun)?:
@cassite It's so stupid, because they could make a KILLING in taxes.
More or less than they make from the free labor they get from prisoners?
@tek Ah. In her case, it would be hard to conceal. She works nights and some evenings, with the vaccine only available during day shift, so she'd have had to come up with a reason to go to work at a weird hour, while also masking symptoms from the side effects.
@tek Oh, I'm not mad or anything, I'm legit curious. I just took for granted that people would understand kids have to live with their parents well into adulthood these days, so you asking makes me wonder about my assumptions.
@tek She lives with them. Do teenagers have the economic ability to not live with their parents where you live?
I know one nineteen-year-old who isn't taking it because she lives with her parents and they won't let her. Okay, fine, whatever. The rest of them are grown adults who heard somewhere that the vaccine causes sterility or whatever, stuff that's easily disproven by a cursory Google search, and I just... ugh. Y'all are medical professionals. How do you get into this business while being an anti-vaxxer?
Artemis decided to use my work laptop whilst I was at lunch.
"I like this bed because it's warm and smells like you."
I am watching a compilation of people reacting to the last episode of the Mandalorian, and I am very confused by them. I won't go into spoilers, but, like, why on Earth would anyone think the show would even let them suspect that's where they were going with it if they weren't gonna follow through? The rage would be visible from space.
@wildbaboons said in Why are there so many MUs set in Maine?:
Are people aiming for the old colonial time history with spooky, desolate woods to go with it?
I think history is a big part of it. As countries go, America doesn't have much sense of history to it. New England is old enough and respectful enough of its heritage that it can feel very different from the rest of the nation. Maine is also coastal, so you can allow concepts that involve the ocean and have lots of PB albums full of bikini shots for the wiki; and the large, fictional city allows you to assert that anything you want to exist in the setting, does.
Seems like a good place to lean into some unashamed soap opera melodrama.

In many animal species, in most primates, holding eye contact is meant to be challenging. I'm not convinced macho bullshit isn't the reason prolonged eye contact is even a thing.
It's largely American macho bullshit. A lot of countries don't prioritize eye contact the way we do because they understand it's aggressive.
Reaction videos have been helping me a lot. Watching millennials watch the movies of my childhood almost feels like going to the movies with someone.
