I have serious doubts the US will ever adopt such a program, as we seem to really enjoy, deep down in side somewhere, social-darwinism and material-wealth competitions. Even if everything was automated, we would find a way. We are Orks like that.

@Ganymede Also 'basic' will be a hell of a variable to define.
Basic is well defined in Swedish Law, it's calculated each year based on the expected minimum amount of money to buy food and necessities in a given month(Currently around $300). I think basic income makes sense because noone wants to be unemployed and the bureaucracy involved in welfare is both dehumanizing and a huge waste of money.
Pretty sure the United States Military already has a scale for basic monthly income and expenses.

I am...so confused...did I utter a phrase from the Necronomicon last night?
So...what your saying is...you drew strange symbols, lit candles and sacrificed a chicken or three...and MSB came back to life?
I am terrified to ask...what is Second Life? I refuse to google it.

I would be open to roleplaying via Tumblr, Reddit, or most forums as most MU*s, in my opinion, are a time sink. I no longer have the disposable time or patience to sit with a group and roleplay for two to five hours and wait ten minutes for someone to compose a coherent pose. Not to mention that on certain days I just cannot make the schedules of some of the scenes. For example, on MU that I was very active on a few years ago had major scenes every Sunday morning. Well, by the time I'd go to church with my family, go to brunch like I always do on Sundays, and get home, the scenes would be almost over.
The question is: are some of these groups of quality? Some of the best roleplay I had was back in the late 90s on Star Trek PBeMs (Play-by-Emails). It was nice. I could write at my leisure and not be confined to a time schedule.
If I did anything like PbE, or forums, or anything lone of that nature I would likely end up just writing novellas.
Then sending them to you.
I cannot imagine myself putting energy into a post, only to see my email ping a few hours later, just to open it up to a paragraph or two. But that is just me. Maybe.

Just, uh, prepare for the psychologically challenged. M'kay?
We are mushers aren't we kind of used to the psychologically challenged?
Not even close, in comparison.
The primary problem is not finding people who use other mediums, but letting people know MUing exists and letting them find you. Then being patient enough to teach them the method as I can tell you with confidence that the mass-population of people who wish to write, or engage in pretendy-funtimes, have no clue what MUing is.
Just, uh, prepare for the psychologically challenged. M'kay?

I could probably do that I guess? But that would probably require like everyone breaking IC. For one thing, my PC also has stuff that makes leaving a capital offense on most games I've played, and then I couldn't blame the new cov for wondering WTF is this person thinking, do they think we're going to trust them when they just up and leave their old one on a dime? Why wouldn't they do the same to us?
I'm willing to consider if the RP is there, but that seems like a lot of doing things that usually people end up bitched about on here about, yeah?
Or you wake up one night and realize you were a Dominated Speculatores the whole time, and the old ID wakes up to take back control.
Why would the Lance not have someone capable? Look at Krieg. He does not adhere to their dogma; he is used, and he uses them, and their relationship is a good relationship.
No one yet has stepped forward, but, that is why I posted this here, so people could see it, think about it, and join when able.
