@zombiegenesis And it is just really hard to read inflection and intent when using words too. Moderation is subjective on that really. None of the mods are mind readers, if they are they are probably keeping it a secret because I know I would be all about asking if they knew winning lottery numbers, like all the time.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@arkandel Well part of my thing was I was doing a whole series - returning player who has been here since launch coming back after everything was changed and seeing what the new content was like, no mods, just like it was when it first came out. Commenting on things like shadows now, or how my blueberry has abs, or basically the entire undead zone make over - and lack of kobolds in the human starting area.
So like... do I rush, keep going, wait? I've always been able to solo, and it always takes a while to get used to new content. But yeah, don't really want to get all excited with all the changes to Brill if it's going to be erased and I have to start over.... Especially when the first 8 hours have my commentary, something I can't really do right now. That's a huge change on top of maybe having to start over and or missing what there is now.

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
I am sad. I saw the thread title and thought it was going to be a lexicon, and was hoping PHB would make it on the list, since I hardly see it any more and feel old when I do.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@arkandel Because I hadn't been as far as Fargodeep mine yet, and change is bad. (But mostly because I have no idea what's going to happened with the undead starting area and all the changes to Silverpine, Undercity, etc. Are they going to be phased? Should I rush and finish all my undead starting quests now in case they change things radically like in Cata?)
Mostly because change is bad though. >.>
ETA: The mine is boarded up! You can't even get in there now. Where was I going to take candle?

RE: General Video Game Thread
@arkandel I actually almost sent you a panicky all caps message on Steam last night because you, and a friend have very similar icons, and both happened to be online and right on top of each other.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@arkandel There are still Kobolds in the Fargodeep mine.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@jibberthehut That spider worked so very hard on it's home though!
-
RE: General Video Game Thread
@arkandel Screw your world finder, there are no longer kobolds in the mines at the start of the human zone. The mine is closed! There's Blackrock Orcs, and goblin assassins now. Boo!

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@pandora Well, I did smoke for way too many years, but on the flip side while most booze doesn't affect me, get some tequila in me and I am done. Tylenol 3 helps, but I was getting stoned on half a gravol last year so I'm just guessing it's a tolerance thing?
I want to enjoy the outside, but the spider is holding the cherries hostage and the dog is more interested in watching the neighbors chickens. (Plus I'm so pale I pretty much have to use all the sunscreen before I do anything, and people will still think Gondor is calling for aid.) Less joking though I'm worried about over-extending my knee like my voice seems to be doing. I was pretty stubborn when they said I would get off crutches, and then the cane because it didn't hurt, and I don't want to do something like that now, and pay for it later.
@jibberthehut (That's the best one I could find for sympathetic thumbs.)

RE: Shameless Self-Promotion part IV
Bumping this again because I have been off work for a bit now, no voice, which makes it really difficult to do phone customer service, and then my work laptop also decided to have the display up and die as well, so I needed to borrow money from my dad to pay for it until my next paycheck. Doctor has written be being off work until September 1st. And I hate begging for money directly.
So bumping this again, in case anyone has the urge to buy videogames, I am an affiliate with Greenman Gaming, Fanatical (Formerly Bundlestars), and Humble. I get different amounts of money from various places depending on what's going on. (Generally a flat rate on the purchases, but bonuses from Humble for each monthly subscription. And one of the things I like about Humble is sometimes I get a slider, so you can chose how much I get, how much charity gets, the devs, or the site to keep it running.) But I get notified of sales before they come out, sometimes with extra codes that you guys can use to save more money.
#nonspon but seriously, if you haven't yet, check out. isthereanydeal.com It's a really great site for when you finally decide to buy a PC game, or if you see a game you do want, you might find it a little cheaper somewhere else. And if you see it somewhere I am an affiliate, maybe send me a DM so I can make a link for you?
Another way you can help out an internet stranger is if you have Amazon Prime: You get a free Twitch subscription every month, doesn't cost you anything, and I get money out of it. I know some people didn't even know about this when I mentioned it before, and I've actually made it a little easier for people to connect their subscriptions if they don't know how to: Go to my Twitch page and type !prime that will bring up a link that will take you directly to Amazon prime for your country.
I also mentioned way, WAY back that I have a discord, and have a Soapbox role, as well as chat channels if people want to get together and game. I've made it now so that Soapbox will now see my adspam channel where I put in all the links already with my affiliate links attached, and that way you guys can see the sales as they go up before even having to DM me. !prime also works in discord as well.
Because I've lost my voice, but I'm worried about losing affiliate status, so I asked my viewers and they said they were okay with me not talking as much, so if you do tune in, expect some weird ASRM stuff happening, maybe.
I really don't want to lose affiliate and have to get it back because of the loss of my voice, especially because I am super excited because I recently got my first affiliate payout from Twitch, and have gotten payouts from Humble and Greenman Gaming as well, and it really makes me feel like a more legitimate streamer now. So thank you to everyone who has already used their free Prime sub, or poked me about getting an affiliate link. I really do appreciate it.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I was going to pick some cherries before they go bad, but there was a spider that had claimed them / guarding them, so that's not happening now.
Also: Doctor gave me a one off of steroid pills, take 3 all at once and it removes swelling... And I can completely understand why people get hooked on this stuff. The pharmacist warned me it might keep me up all night (and it did!) I'm still awake, but sleepy, but if I lie down I only sort of semi-nap. I'm full of energy, I want to do stuff for the first time in a while (my voice is back a little, but I feel like I can do so much more, so I get excited and talk too much, or too loudly, so I have to not speak because it ends up hurting more after I talk. (At least I got popsicles in this heat, I've been good about it so far.) But I feel better mentally too, I want to write, I can't get down my ideas fast enough, because I can't type three things out at the same time. Things that have hurt for the past 30 years since my accident don't.
I don't know if it's because I'm not used to them, but yay steroids? Posting here because I full expect the crash to be horrible, and also I seem to have to pee more often.

@saosmash (We really need a supportive thumbs up, and not just an I agree thumbs up.)

RE: Video Dump
@auspice Obviously I don't think it's real. I'm wondering if the DDLC slip was actually a slip, since DDLC seems to be an ARG for a larger game itself. Usually when Nightmare Expo does these sorts of videos whatever it is has run it's course. This is pretty new. But okay, not weird enough huh? How about that angel ARG he mentioned early in the video?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
So I was mowing the front lawn last night, and this guy was walking towards me on the sidewalk. His phone rings and he starts frantically waving at me and trying to flag me down as he gets closer to the house. I cut the engine and he tells me not to start up again until he's further down the street because he can't hear his cellphone. And then he turned and walked away as if I was going to do it. Started back up again before he had finished turning around. He flipped me the bird, but got off my lawn pretty quickly.
People are so damn entitled now. Seriously. I keep joking about getting a tiny house in the middle of nowhere and filling it with cats, but seriously!

RE: General Video Game Thread
@wretched said in General Video Game Thread:
So I play a lotta GW2 and keep on on their reddit off an on. The Gaming Website Articles about the incident and what people talk about on the forums are so very different.
Really depends what articles you look at; as either side is heavily slanted one way or another. Either down a "She was fired for complaining about mansplaining" or "She was rude to a customer!" side with usually the being rude to a customer equating the streamer to being a college or fellow employee. Both sides are very pitchfork and knee jerk-y.
Price has allegedly been fired from other companies for similar behavior, and seems to as @Auspice mentioned, go off like this from time to time.
She worked for the table top company that does Pathfinder. There was no announcement as to why she was gone, just a question about it on the forums, with most users saying there were surprised, and sad she was gone. So again, much like this case we don't know what happened behind the scenes. And her previous behavior doesn't explain why her male co-worker was fired as well. He'd been there for 13 years and no one brings up his former employment, or social media history. Neither side has been non-toxic.
@auspice said in General Video Game Thread:
Fortunately, a lot of them don't, but I could see the ones that do just absolutely crushing an aspiring dev early in their school career. And that's sad.
Having had to deal with being a female gamer online for way too long, plus things like this on both sides, and just people's attitudes of entitlement in general have certainly made me re-consider going back to school to have a career in this field, yep. It's also why I've written and changed so many scripts and haven't made a video on it; there is just so much toxicity on both sides.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@auspice said in General Video Game Thread:
She celebrated the death of TotalBiscuit, who died from cancer. That was just at the end of May.
While there were some game devs who did celebrate TB's death, I don't think she was one of them. Maybe tacky making the comment she did on the day of his death? Sure. But there were a lot of people who disliked TB and had good reason to who voice very similar sentiments who actually worked with him. And everyone reacts to and handles death differently. Yeah, he died of cancer, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone (of which TB did on Twitter on multiple occasions) , or want any family to have to go through losing someone, but he wasn't exactly always praise-worthy himself before he died.
But getting cancer or dying doesn't absolve anyone of having been an asshole before hand, and if her comments on the day of TB's death were an issue they should have been addressed back in May, and that still doesn't explain why she wasn't the only one fired.
Also we only have her side of things because ArenaNet hasn't commented, but they knew full well what she was like on Twitter before she was hired, and was never talked to about her behavior on Twitter, or talked to about it before this happened. Her behavior on Twitter previously wasn't an issue
And even if she did celebrate TB's death previously (which there were people who did in the gaming community I'm not arguing that it didn't happen, or was right) there are still two families who now have to deal with the loss of a job, one person who was there for 13 years... for standing up for a co-worker. Even if people can say she made a distasteful tweet in the past it not a reason for people to continually harass her and gloat after the fact that she was fired.
There is just so much toxicity on both sides of this that no one comes off looking good in this at all.
ETA: Sorry, I just see celebrate over and over again whenever it comes up, and she's not the guy from EA who DID celebrate his death. People are allowed to dislike people you like. Disliking someone doesn't mean a person is happy they are gone, either.
