@tinuviel I presume it's code for "stop making us field calls from parents?"

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Dude. I know you don't want to be at work. That's why they pay you to do it.
I'm all for a bit of camradre-building grousing, but at a certain point... I dunno... suck it the fuck up and do your job?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@tnp As far as "niggardly" goes, though, I'll be honest and say I give people a bit of side-eye when I hear it being used.
Just because the number of times it comes up in conversation vs the number of times people point out how not-racist they are by saying it skews slightly overwhelmingly toward the latter.
But I do accept that might be a regional thing.
(Talking about orienting yourself as being racist is pretty dumb tho)

@tinuviel A~and I said what about, Breakfast at Tiffany's...
okay actual peeve: District Manager, maybe instead of chewing out your employees for breaking and clogging the vacuum cleaners all the time by being careless, maybe you should spring for a vacuum cleaner that can handle the shit that's always on our floors in a case that doesn't fly apart if we lightly brush it on the furniture while we're getting the corners. Just a thought.
ETA: whose fucking brilliant idea was it to change out tile for carpet in a retail store, anyway?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@deathbird I mean, technically it's Tiffany & Co. More significantly, it's Breakfast at Tiffany's, not Breakfast at Tiffany.

RE: RL Anger
@aria They seem to have taken it out this year! So there's that.
It's the Idina Menzel/Michael Bublé one. They have a spoken bit at 1:19 where she says 'you're very pushy you know' and he says 'I like to think of it as opportunistic' and I die a little inside.

RE: Message from White Wolf
@bobotron I think this is underselling it a bit. It's definitely true that Paradox was interested in White Wolf as transmedia IP first, second, and last, but they'd seemed content to let the RPG crews play in their sandbox. Up to a point. (That point being 'at least one shitstorm of controversy per release of what's supposed to be making our new IP look good.')

RE: Random funny
@ganymede ...knowing nothing about the actual (lack of) substance in the motion, my first thought is still OH SHIT SOV CITS!

RE: RL Anger
"Hey @insomniac7809, you know what you should do?"
"What's that, @insomniac7809?"
"You should point out to Weird Fiction aficionados arguing that H. P. Lovecraft's racism was an unimportant background detail that should be considered entirely separately from his body of work that, not only was he comically racist even by the standards of 1920s New England, his views are absolutely clear in his work, and likely vital to interpreting them."
"What a great idea, @insomniac7809! They'll obviously be willing to take direct textual evidence presented in good faith, rather than talking about Orwell and NPC cucks in reference to people pointing out the blatantly goddamn obvious." -
RE: Critters!
@aria His name is Vanya. About five years ago he was diagnosed with FIP and given weeks to live. We declined euthanasia at the time, took him into the bedroom to give palliative care away from the other cats, whereupon he... made a complete recovery.
He is currently on my lap and biting at my chin.

RE: Forgiveness in Mushing
It's kind of an interesting thought.
I mean, we're not talking about depriving people of their fundamental liberties, here. I agree that the backbiting and Mean Girlsing that can happen in a MU* can be overblown and excessive, and the fights get nasty when the stakes are small.
But we're talking about what I do to waste my free time playing pretendyfun elfgames. If someone's made the experience actively unpleasant for me before, I'm certainly under no obligation to let bygones be bygones and walk into the same situation that turned my funtimes into a dramatic headache in the past.
And frankly... well, @Aria will tell you that I don't usually get worked up about much of anything, never mind game stuff. Anyone who does appear on what passes for my shitlist has probably pulled the "I'm doing better now" thing enough for it to go past "fool me twice, shame on me" and into "oh shut up silly woman said the reptile with a grin,/ you knew damn well I was a snake before you let me in."

RE: Bloopers
@ganymede ...is that Cyborg beating his meat? Is that a joke they did in the show?

I get a little tired of the dumb, brassy lynch mob attitude around here sometimes.
Toxic femininity.
What the hell man. Especially not in this forum section, not that it works in any. Come on.
Are you... I mean, are you surprised? Like at all?

RE: Historical settings
@arkandel But then you get into the Tudors issue, where the showrunners decided "putting Henry in tights, slippers, skirts, and a giant codpiece and slathering Anne in gothy clown whore pancake make-up doesn't really convey 'sexy Humanist rock star king' or 'irresistible beauty' to modern audiences, even though it totes would have at the time."
I'm with @Tinuviel that online TT is a better venue for historical-historical settings than an open MUSH.

RE: Critters!
@auspice @Aria has discouraged me from letting Pavel be ShoulderCat, because her shoulders (being considerably less broad) don't keep him up as well, and when he starts to slide his claws come out for traction. We compromise when I carry him around like a baby.

RE: Critters!
@packrat Why would she want to get down? She is tallest of everything.
