Did I mention I'm enjoying Frostpunk?
I did want to take a minute to throw some support Theno's way about Frostpunk. This game is a very unique survival game with city building elements. It has a lot of steampunk themes to it of course. The game also presents the player with some interesting morality choices that have some very meaningful impact on how your city survives and develops. And there is a very lite story element to the game done through exploration which adds another layer to the game.
If you liked 11 Bit Studio's prior work, This War of Mine, Frostpunk is another quality game worth looking into if it falls into your genre favorites.
...Locust crests the hill. Pirates. Okay this will be easy. What are the other three?
Hunchback comes into view. Okay AC20, keep it outside of range.
Black Knight crests the hill....uh...hrm. That's a lot of armor. Catapult crests the hill, LRM carrier. For the love of what the fuck this is a 1.5 skull mission!
So....I think judging mission difficulty by the Skull rating is not possible. The skulls lie. The skulls lie!
@admiral Was that one of the story missions? I have only done the one where you meet the person and the first one right after that. Otherwise I've been bouncing around doing other random contract jobs.
@ganymede
If they were throwing Griffons and Wolfhounds at me I might be worried because you'd be right. But so far the early game light mechs have been Locusts, Spiders, Jenners, and the occasional Commando rearing its ugly head. I did one mission where I had a surprise AC20 Hunchback appear over a hill and core my Spider - but other than that, the Shadowhawk has been the ace of the team nearly every mission.
As for the game itself - trust those who share good things. I'm enjoying it thoroughly. I could not recommend it enough.
Okay. Infinity War is a huge movie. And it was good. Really good.
@theonceler
There really are not a lot of great iconic Spider Man villains that would fit well within a movie...and avoid the trashy representations of villains that we've already seen through four other Spider Man movies. I excluded The Lizard, I thought he was well done.
I think the only ones we have not seen now are Mysterio, Chameleon, and Tombstone. Maybe Kraven the Hunter?
Besides so far the Marvel movies tend to make the villains one-note characters, so Carnage is perfect for that.
@arkandel
I dislike that it entirely disregards Spider Man. I get they are probably pulling more from the Lethal Protector and other stand alone comic runs Venom had AFTER he decided to stop pursuing Spidey; but an origin story about Venom without Spider Man seems very off to me. One thing I can say about the trailer it looks like they have done the costuming and CGI for actual Venom right though.
On another note....if this odd origin movie does okay at the box office, then there may be hope for a Spidey/Venom crossover movie with the Maximum Carnage storyline. At least that's what the fanboy in me fills his hope jar with.
@lithium
So Gany and I agree pretty much that tabletop Shadowhawk's suck. But right now I'm rolling across the battlefield with a Shadowhawk that has 1 Medium Laser, 2 SRM6s, and 1 SRM2; with max armor and 5 jump jets. This thing has tanked my early game like no body's business and one shots any light mech and some mediums, that jump in its path. And when it doesn't a swift punch to the face puts them down.
Also. Sensor Lock might be kind of OP.
@packrat
Yeah I'm really enjoying the game so far. I have learned that if you want more mech salvage from the battlefield, melee the shit out of them.
@bobotron That's fine with me. This can be a discussion thread. I just did not see another convienent thread to post this in where people who would like seeing this, would see it.
@downwithopp
Oh that's sad. He was a good actor.
Super Troopers 2.
I laughed. I cried laughing. Not all the jokes hit. But it was very well done and well worth the wait from backing to product release.
Battletech Backers who filled out their survey can get their key now. The email should be out. So check your email.

As an objective watcher, Troy: Fall of A City is just bad. The visuals yo yo between nice and then eh. But the writing seems to fall flat quite a bit and what should be something that should have writing along the lines of the old Spartacus tv show, I get more of the Young and the Restless from it at times.

Bushwacker is a common 55-ton IS 'Mech, but it has double heat-sinks, ferro-fibrous armor, and an ER Large Laser.
And all of that equipment was available in the SLDF era. The Royal-class Shadow Hawk was equipped with an LB10X, a pair of Streak-2s, 2 Medium Lasers, with Double Heat Sinks, Endo Steel, and Ferro Fibrous Armor.
Which I guess really does support your argument that to actually be a competitive mech it really does need more advanced tech otherwise it blows.
It is not even saved by the First Succession War Kurita variant that replaced the AC/5 with a PPC, extra armor and 5 heat sinks. There are other medium weight long range snipers that do this job much better.
Edit to add:
Looking at the mech history it does not look like the mech even becomes competitively capable until the 2D2 and 5M refits in 3049. And a year later gets beat out by the Bushwacker and newer (or refit variants) 55 ton mechs.
@ganymede
Ah okay. I was thinking it was just common 55 ton IS mechs.
