@JinShei Actually the story is kind of brilliant. They used a military chopper to drop bags of aggregate in the collapsed dam section to shore it up, while fire fighters pumped water out of the reservoir to reduce the pressure. Watched a news story on it and amazing how smartly it was handled. None of which, I'm sure, had to do with Boris.
I know - it was a joke

RE: Interest in a Discworld game?
Alright then. Himself is starting on the code, I'm poking at the system and know what I want to do.
Is anyone interested in hopping into a discord channel to bounce ideas around without spamming the hell out of this thread?

@gryphter I'm trying to learn the art of saying no when asked to do things above my pay grade or outside scope.
It's hard. Our generation was raised to be go-getters in this sense. That if we didn't put in the extra effort, go the extra mile, etc....we wouldn't get the money or promotion.
I have a stock phrase - "I'm sorry, I don't have capacity to take that on at this time. Can we revisit later in the year?"

@Rinel I'm using my little soda stream. Also I love halo But then I am on a diet (well, intermittently fasting).

@JinShei We're just a simulation @Ganymede uses to research regular human interaction.
Now I am deeply concerned for @Ganymede's mental health...and for the wellbeing of those around her

I kind of want to buy a bunch of Harlequin novels cheap, now, and rewrite the smut to be family friendly.
I want to buy anita blake books and do this...

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Derp They lifted it directly from the NICE guidelines, and cited authors who hadn't published on that topic in that year. I can't give more info without giving away too much of the student but I get regular google scholar alerts on the leaders in my specialism, to keep up with the topic.

@JinShei I want to upvote this a thousand times.
Also, if you are going to steal your entire essay, don't write it on my specialist topic and misuse some of my favourite sources! 77% stolen, with a thesaurus used for the other words, changing the meaning of the sentence! ARGH!

RE: Interest in a Discworld game?
@Wretched @Auspice I just have trouble getting my brain to shut up - so I find listening to books I know backwards and frontwards enough to engage and distract it, but not enough to stay awake!

@JinShei The pratchett Audiobooks are pretty darn good! I've listen to so many of them so many times, those and the Dresden books red by James marsters. Audiobook + Writing/Drawing/Videogaming =
Are... Are you actually me? I have those too. I tend to listen in bed though too shut up my brain.

Marking. Just, for pities' sake, get someone to proofread your work before submitting it. Please. You at least have to make sense. Correct grammar, spelling and referencing would make me ecstatic.

Some of my friends have stopped reading more than one book a year, to make them last. I just obsessively listen to them...

I knew a lady that ran a fate based game that had magic. I bet she'd have some good insight in that sort of thing.
I should look her up!

RE: Lifehacks
@Lotherio I was insistent. I wanted one in my old place (even less space) and just never got to it. But I'm excited by all the options.
We were given one by friends. It is fab!

@JinShei I know of a couple other people are fiddling with Ares and FATE, so you should be in good company. \o/
Got their names? Seems to make sense to collaborate on this.

RE: Interest in a Discworld game?
That sounds reasonable. We've moved to looking at GURPS discworld, to see if that can be made as a Ares plugin, since it is designed to be discworldly! I can tell himself is looking at Ares since I can hear the code mumblings just to my side.
Edit: GURPS copyright seems to make it not easily transferable. Leaning more fate-wards

RE: Interest in a Discworld game?
@faraday I've asked himself to make a musoapbox login, and he is on your discord as well. Expect to see Kryptykfysh. He is currently doing what coders do and looking at the code
Currently, I'm thinking that since I tend to run very consent-based games, we can use a stat for the magic ability and let the players roll that if they contest, in a similar way to Gray Harbor and their glimmer. Then the method of the magic is down to the character type - i.e. witches can add headology or herbology, and wizards add some form of arcane rituals...
Otherwise I might go with fate again.
Thieves, assassins, beggers, fools, witches, wizards, priests, warriors. Missing anything?
