RE: Ensign Sue... the comic
@Tinuviel I teach an entire degree module on "look critically at this journal article". The most effective thing I've found is saying "Imagine if the person you hate most in the world wrote this. find the weaknesses and bring your receipts - show me evidence that they are wrong." This seems to inspire them with a desire to rip that paper to shreads

Deleting my reply to this thread, having seen the split between the threads and not wanting to further derail.

RE: Books...Books...Books....
Reading Poverty Safari. It is bloody good, and giving me more food for thoughts. Next, Why I'm No Longer Talking...
Alongside some Heyer and Pratchett of course. Doing it alongside them is really making me more aware of Heyer's "of her time" casual racism and sexism, and Pratchett's undermining of tropes (better in late books - it isn't mocking a trope if you are just doing the thing).

@Tinuviel I literally could do this!
Coming to you now from Estate Road 2, where three families have converged on the side of the street to have a barbeque and let their children play on a bouncy castle, despite the perils of COVID-19. Today, on the JinShei Show, we ask, do people really dislike their kids and friends this much? Should we just let them all catch this and die?

@Tinuviel Yes! I mean, there was one point where a crash suggests someone flipped a table!

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
My delightful neighbours had a proper cat-fight domestic in their garden last night at midnight. I'm so tired I want to kill people. Mostly them. I also don't want to know half the details and not the preceding event. Is it rude to knock on their door and say "Look, I know that one of the women said something but WHAT WAS IT?"

RE: The Work Thread
When your colleagues have to email your boss so that she knows her team's achievements. When she just reads from the list.
Oh, and enforced fun. Oh what fun this quiz is. Joy.
Oh. And the next time you put something on my course without talking to me, I will cut you, bitch.

RE: Critters!
@silverfox Our old bitch was allergic to pollen, and that bought her out in hives that she scratched. We had perpetual antihistamines. I agree with @Auspice - we also did that, and she was luckily quite good at taking tablets. Most. Expensive. Pet. Ever.

RE: Critters!
Taken in my mum's garden today. I asked her about getting a streaming cam for her animal world but she is not sure
