This has been a couple of pages of really interesting interpretations. Awesome morning-coffee-ignoring-email reading.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@Ominous I hated resdays in Firan, because it sometimes seemed that they were interpreted with the most scathing and mockery-focused point of view.
All I can say is that we are constantly asking ourselves "what makes the best story" and "is this going to be fun/fulfilling for the players" and try to find a happy medium of both if they are different answers.
We are also more than willing to reach out and ask for clarification from people. So, while I understand the concern, all I can say is that we are going to try to keep a much more positive focus in our crisis resolution.

RE: Forum Factions
Accurate in that I would like all of this nonsense and all of you off my lawn.

Or do what you would do in reality. If your conversation in a public place has turned into something that really needs to be continued in private...go somewhere private. Stand up and make your goodbyes and go chat about your secret plot to overthrow the shadow government.

RE: RL Anger
Conversely, I hate when people are like HELP ME FIND THING I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE*
You go lift up three things and find them under one of them. LOOK UNDER THINGS FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

For example, mention right in the command help file that there should be roleplay taking place between the claimer and the newbie, not just posing in the same room. Right now that's kinda of a gray area - people walk in, have conversations with their existing friends ignoring the newbie but since it's taking place in the same room (and not coincidentally ) they toss the claim.
It might also be a good idea to give the XPs to the newbie whether they validate or not (else they're penalizing themselves by not validating it, which won't happen) but give no way for the claimer to know if it was validated or not so there can't be OOC pressure about it.That's a good suggestion that I have immediately thrown at Tehom!

@Packrat Not sure if you are aware or not, but for the record there's a "theme questions" bb board where you can ask your burning questions and get responses that are there for posterity.
There you go, I leapt on you screaming a solution.

There's a difference between 'The NPCs say my scandalous vomit-green dress is hotter than yours' and 'I rolled the dice now tell me about your ties to the demonic horde while we prep the executioner's blade, traitor'.
No one has argued for either of those things. The first is boring, the second robs a player of their autonomy. However, as @Sparks pointed out, there's a more indepth conversation about social combat in another thread.
I actually don't find the first very boring, we've discussed ways to make fashion tied in to social prestige, and tossed around ideas for a 'who wore it better' or 'best dressed' blind vote function

@saosmash Go Fug Yourself is basically my favorite blog. I like to pretend to be fashionable.

It's not anonymous. People will be complimentary for the same reason most white journal pages are positive: they'll get shit for it if they're not..

If you're negative toward someone, they're less likely to first impression you in return and give you 4 XP.
Yeah, I honestly don't care if people are miserable haters in their secret hearts. I just want them to not be insanely miserable haters in my face.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
So in the final battles of the siege (IE the storming of Arx) we realized that uh, if you go unconscious it essentially removed any danger because nothing would target you.
That's going to be (might already have been) fixed. That's why no PCs died during it - though a few still came REALLY close. Whoops. You get this one for free, Arx.

RE: How Do I Headwiz?
There's more to that phrase, though. Great artists steal *
*from many, many sources. You can't just take something someone else did wholecloth. You take a dozen somethings a dozen people did and blend them together.

So make people desc their own, in shops! that was a key tenet of the shop design.

@saosmash I would never, ever say that where you could see it.

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
@Rook We don't put up with it quietly.
Doesn't stop it from happening! But I don't mean to derail with some 'omg all players are entitled dicks' complaint, because I don't feel that way. Like I said, it's a vocal minority. Most people are cool and engaged and appreciative.

@Ominous I hate that big meme you used in our advertising thread. It is ugly as sin.

Rule #3.5 - It is just a game.
Nothing matters in the end. If someone is so worked up they are seriously, seriously upset about a game matter, tell them to chill the fuck out. This one makes me giggle. I remember once talking about staffing or requests or something and someone was like "what if it is an emergency?"
And I'm thinking, 'this is a game. It is impossible that anything occurring in this game is an emergency."
