      Sulforaphane

highest concentration of this in broccoli sprouts. I get them and blend them up in smoothies that are strongly flavored (like orange juice or pineapple) because the sprouty flavor is STRONK

Bob and Brad - daily uploads, physical therapy questions, tests, exercises, just search your problem or even the body part. This channel helped me identify the issue with my shoulders/arms and showed me stretches to fix it. It's helped other people I know, too - and that jingle. Super nerds.

Girlfriend Reviews funny game reviews from the perspective of the girlfriend of the person playing them. This is my rec for the "funny gamez content" category - runners up being Thorhighheels and Nakeyjakey.

exurb1a - hey, are you ok? No matter the answer, this channel's philosophical videos are very good.

kurzgezagt - do you like to be knowed sciencey things through animation?

Jenna Marbles - it's Jenna fucking Marbles, professional gamer and wholesome mom of youtube. (she's a 33 year old lady)

Contrapoints - trans issues, alt right extremism, social commentary - her brand of humor and philosophy and socratic dialogue is smart and generally full of compassion.

(also omg yes Unraveled. BDG is a treasure)

you probably think you need WAY more protein than you do. Unless you are an Olympic level athlete, this is likely the case.

intermittent fasting is great for blood sugar/insulin resistance. It has halted and reversed pre-diabetes in people.

      ('murica disclaimer)
chances are your doctor's knowledge of nutrition comes from a short course they had to take in medical school and whatever the FDA is able to/being paid to say.

aluminum in antiperspirant has been linked to breast cancer. the research is not widely validated but a woman who worked on the study that found the link said "i know i am personally never using aluminum based ap again, take that as you will'

Turn oven to 350. Get out tinfoil.
Wrap a fully frozen boneless skinless chicken breast fillet in a tinfoil pouch and top with Italian dressing, fold foil closed tight to seal in steam/juices. Wash and poke holes in a potato, wrap that bitch in foil too. Pop em in the oven.
1 hr break to smoke and watch mindlessly funny shit.
Pull packets out of oven and open them. Retrieve chicken with a fork and cut your potato open. Pour chicken juices and Italian half on the chicken, half on the potato, add butter to potato and sour cream and cheese if desired. Five minutes or less of work and you have a dish free meat and potato meal without even needing to defrost your meat.

Who is doing this when they are too depressed to eat??

@Ganymede i mean if you don't eat carbs and you are allergic to nuts and legumes there isn't a lot you can do that's going to be filling (salad forever?) but also I am sorry for your life. Carbs are the best.

I mean if I'm being honest, when I'm VERY low I will stand by the fridge and eat a tortilla and a handful of grapes, or go to a drive through and get french fries.

@Sunny peanuts and canola oil are both high in vitamin e, and George Washington Carver specifically worked with peanuts because he thought they were a good staple food for people needing affordable nutrition.

      @Kestrel

'Misconception that it's privledged' is why I got upset, because it isn't a misconception.

ETA: the misconception is that it is solely food cost alone that makes it a privilege

The ability to have plenty of food that makes up a healthy diet (any type of diet) is a privilege, yes?

    • RE: What do you eat?

@Sunny and dollar menus won't? eating just meat won't? I think I've lost the thread of your point, here.

      • that is a good point about people not having power/kitchens to cook. Also a factor, but again not really about the food.

    • RE: What do you eat?

Eating a lot of fancy vegetable dishes is a privilege, sure, but the 'cost' argument is not the correct one. Dry bulk beans and rice will feed a family cheaper than even McDonald's dollar menu, absolutely.

The argument that families where both parents are working multiple jobs and do not have time to prepare food would be closer to an actual root cause, I think, but even then it's not the foods that are the issue.
