@Aria Look at AWD. It's amazing when the roads aren't plowed. I used to have to drive up a steep hill, that was one of the last to be plowed. Just remember, as my dad used to say, it's all wheel drive - not all wheel stop. You'll feel pretty invincible with it,

@Kestrel said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:
God damnit, I think I have a new fetish.
I second this.
And after being told I was a heretic and going to hell if I didn't change (at the tender age of 8), I decided the only Christian god I would worship was the George Burns version.

My roommate who works for an italian import deli - brought me home a gift. Their pasta salad is so good, and she brought me home a bowl, just for me.

RE: Mental Health Break
@mietze Your health and family are a million times more important than anything here. I hope you feel better, physically/mentally/emotionally, and this weekend helps you get there.

Gofundme for Logan
So yeah. Emergency care. I probably don't have to tell anyone how monumental the bill is likely to be.

RE: Gofundme for Logan
@raemira I did try that. I was not pre-qualified.

RE: Gofundme for Logan
@il-volpe That's the one. It's his prostate they need to check. They want the ultrasound to get a better look at a lot of things.
It's either prosta-something carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma.. or inflammation of the prostate. The messed up thing is, the treatment for all three, at least at this point, is the same. NSAIDS and gabapentin (fun fact, I also am on gabapentin, at the same dose.).
I am so tired. He is still loopy from the sedation earlier.
Now I need to see if I can extend the luck on the gofund me, and afford the ultrasound.

@lotherio Sad. He's been in so many things I've seen over the years. My roommate, bless her heart, only knew of him as Reese Witherspoon's Dad in Sweet Home Alabama.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@too-old-for-this My dad was also never home for YEARS after my mother passed (I was 4 when she passed), I honestly think if she'd lived, even just a handful more years, I would have been far better off, in so many ways.
But, as a female, they just wrote me off as lazy when I was a shining star in class, and never did the homework.
I seriously wonder if going back to college classes now on Adderall would be different.
ETA: Stupid spelling mistakes in the wee hours.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@jinshei They still want to do an ultrasound and a fine needle aspiration. But of course, right now? I'm unemployed, and can't afford the ER Vet's estimate of between 1,000 and 1,200 dollars.
@reimesu Well, they wrote my final written for having sugar crashes. Because I had three of them, while trying to adjust from the training schedule to the production schedule. I did not sign it, on advice from my diabetes' doctor, instead asking for a conference call between HR, the doc's office, and myself, and then I would sign it. They never followed through with that part, though I followed up with the request again a couple of times.
I do know they have WAY more than 50 employees, and it would have been a temporary accommodation of the level my neuro asked me to be forgiven for. Also, they were just bought out by a MUCH larger company a month ago. We'll see what the lawyers say.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@jinshei All the ones local I see require about 8 million hoops and do more reimbursement than help. The vet I have him scheduled to see apparently will work with you with payment plans, and I know if all else fails, my friend will let me use his care credit, so long as I pay it off.
I just didn't need all the bricks to fall on me at once.

Pat Carroll I saw her first in an old version of Cinderella my stepmother used to make me watch, but I loved her best as the voice of Ursula in the little Mermaid.

RE: RL things I love
@Ganymede I love running karaoke events. I used to help my dad dj and do such things. But when he decided it was too much work, he sold all the equipment, so..
I used to bounce at a bar. (Which always makes people give me a second look, because I am not all that imposing looking) But back then, I had all the strength, and all the practice with how to put someone into a ...position to be moved, shall we say, without breaking their arm, etc. (My brother practiced on me when he was in police academy, and then my stepmother needed to practice when she was going to be working as a... guard type in a juvenile facility. The kids where she was were the hard core cases. Murder and shit)

I'm not trying to be petty, but can we at least refer to her as a gay/bisexual icon? Since she id'd as bisexual, and bi-erasure is a serious thing?

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
TRIGGER WARNING FOR SICK PETS!!
I had to call the vet about something sort of concerning with Logan today. Since he got put on the new med a month ago, he's gained some weight (He lost some there before the emergency vet), and he's showing enthusiasm for his munchy treats again, and he's eating decently.
But the vet told me the concerning little 'dripping' he's doing, means whatever is wrong (That I could not afford the 1200 dollar ultrasound to investigate), is getting worse. And that I need to prepare myself for the fact that he may not remain 'happy' for long. So tomorrow I have to pull myself together enough to call the vet long enough to get estimates for when that time comes, and cremation. My chest hurts. All I want to do is cry, but if I do that, he will try to make it better, and that will only make it worse.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
His dating profile: Young buck looking for a lady to love.
Likes: squeaky toys, balls (ones that squeak are great!), ropes for tug of war, bones to chew on, being outside laying in the grass, and treats.
Dislikes: Not being able to meet everyone I see, baths, eating from a raised dish, not being able to meet the kitten, baby gates, and being told to ride in the backseat of the car.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Derp No, he's almost 2.5. Will be in a month. And no, not all Pits are like that. In fact, the last 2 I had, were kinda couch potatoes. They /would/ run around and play.. and then pass out hard.
And I DO run him (though I am not running with him, because Ow.) I played with him for my entire lunch break today, making him chase the ball, back and forth and round and round. I got him doing the zoomies up and down the length of the apartment for 20 minutes. Right now? He's passed out on the floor, not far from my desk. But it doesn't stop the constant destructo.
