      @surreality

      I think where my objections to 'not fair' comes in is boiling everything that happened down to a generic label of 'crazy'. One, I hate that fucking word. Two, it's reductive to the conversation.

      There are things to be discussed re: interactions, but dismissing everything out of hand as crazy and obsessive, especially when someone is poking at buttons that have been demonstrated over and over--

      Not fair?

      (And editing to be clear that I don't think those discussions are mine to have either, Kanye Qwest. You are right that this is your hobby and it is your choice of what you want to do. I will leave those discussions to staff.)

      @WTFE

      I slept on this and thought about it so I could make sure that I wasn't wading back in in a reactionary way. But I have to disagree; I'm sorry. I don't think you're being fair to Kanye Qwest.

      Kanye Qwest has some consistent, repeatable, pretty obvious buttons. She is protective of her people. That includes Apostate and Tehom, of course, but she has also taken all of us on Arx as her people (which I like a lot, tbh). And Thenomain was being a dick about something one of her people did. (He's admitted he was being dickish, we all can agree, whatever.) It may have even been a 'brush off your shoulder' insult for some people (I'm not here to weigh insults, either), but you definitely have to know by reading even a bit of what Kanye Qwest has written before, that this is going to push a button.

      And it didn't really have to be Thenomain. I know it seems like it's Thenomain a lot, but she has been consistent, on game and on this thread, in wanting to make sure that people aren't doing things that will stomp on other people's fun. The message wasn't just for one person.

      You can't call a doorbell crazy and overreactive if you go to press it 20 times.

      @WTFE I suspect that is sarcasm. On the internet. I don't think we are crazy or obsessed, though. I don't think the argument was really about ansi at all, tbh. Some of us want shit to be friendly and positive. I like nice things. Idk, man, idk.

      Also to be clear. I didn't do the ansi posted. This isn't relevant to the conversation at hand except that I don't want to muddle things and stuff.

      I was more just making a statement, not weighing the validity of your complaints, @Thenomain. (I am not a professional weigher of what complaints are valid nor whether they should be listened to.) I mean, you can continue to dislike it. I like it. I dislike some other things that other people do, fairly or unfairly. Thus is life.

      Insert something hippie-ish here, please.

      @Sunny No, Belladonna is the best. Sylvie is a super close second for sure! Or some order that doesn't really matter.

      And I love doing ascii/ansi art. I don't care what anyone says. I don't usually do colors like that, but anyone on game can probably vouch for me being willing to help out with abusing the poor ansi more.

      @Lisse24 Use smoke to make him docile.

      @Packrat I also need to grab Cristoph for a scene someday, if you can forgive me for contributing to spending too much on clothing.

      (I play Sylvie.)

      Game of Thrones, but wait there's more. Set in Old Valyria before the Doom. Everyone can be special snowflakes in their own way; magic everywhere, dragons everywhere, special Valyrian steel weapons everywhere. The books establish something of a democratic system of 40-something (??) rival houses that led the republic while rivaling for power, so there could be all kinds of noble heads of houses. etc etc.

      And if everyone got so annoying that you had to, you can literally do 'rocks fall, everyone dies' at any point.

      @Arkandel

      That's valid. I certainly don't expect anyone on any game I play with to-- idk, give me five bucks if I am broke. I don't expect that they have to even keep playing with me. Or listen to me whine, etc etc.

      I definitely would for them, though. Not that we can't disappear from each other's lives in an instance, but while I'm in it, I do care.

      And then there are the friends that I have made that go waaaaay beyond being brought together by a hobby. That like, I couldn't kick out of my life if I even wanted to, but we did start by being on a MU* together. I can count on them for literally anything. So, I probably have a skewed view.

      @Sunny

      I end up in this same situation a lot, as well. I tend to care a lot about people, and just generally want people to be happy and healthy and safe as can be. I get invested. Etc etc.

      That said, I don't think any approach is wrong. But I too also have a hard time wrapping my mind, emotionally, around the idea that you just-- wouldn't care about this person you spend hours and hours with.

      I have to keep a spreadsheet to make sure I'm getting everything done I need to. This is not a complaint (nor something I see people not me needing).

      no I totally need a spreadsheet. And even then, I fail often at marking down things I may have said in page, at work, etc. I wish I had more hours a day to devote to doing things, tbh, which isn't a feeling I've had with a game in a long time.

      But-- the-- email-- isn't required--. As Apos has said. Yes, the system is designed for an email, but individually, that can be waived and done by hand, as Apos has said.

      Like, I get being annoyed by code that isn't done the way you'd do it. (Hey, I'm a programmer too!) But literally, people are going to code things the way they code them. If that's a deal breaker for you, that sucks, too bad. There's certainly no requirement for you to use it. But-- why are you so invested in it being the /wrong/ choice?

      There's no right/wrong in code. Only wrong. And tears.

      Automating PC-made equipment getting sold would be great, too. Yes, it can be a source of RP but some players don't necessarily want a scene every time they buy an item (and it's a fire-sure way to make craftsmen burn out if 90% of their scene requests involve selling pants and shirts - roleplaying being in retail isn't necessarily a blast 🙂 ).

      This is in place. If a PC has a shop, they can choose to list some of their recipes through it so people can 'buy' through them and just desc it themselves. And a lot of PCs will also just take orders over messengers and send back stuff if you want custom work.

      Edit to add: Oh, PC crafters can also choose to list pre-made stuff too. If you go to Joscelin's Atelier (@directions atelier), she usually has pre-made stuff put up in her shop.

      For me, I prefer to have some sort of IC scene so I can get a feel for the character I am creating for before making their stuff. I think it makes them a happier customer and my job easier when writing custom descriptions.

      @Songtress We have a rule that we won't create a whole new house for just one CG, so to make one requires at least two people trying to CG into it. With the Velenosa faction, we had one fairly big house CG in. At least one!

      <_< sorry

      SORRY NOT SORRY

      and for something more useful, I think it's easy to feel left behind right now in Alpha because honestly, we aren't sure where we are heading. I think things will become more clear in beta about what the actual use of all these things will be going forward.

      I often have the feeling like, oh no everyone is so far ahead! But-- Ahead of what? What is the goal? How are we going to get to effect it? We'll know in time, is my personal opinion. YMMV, ofc.
