It violates the intimacy rules of prostitution. You can talk about your life, complain about things, have sex, but no kissing on the mouth.

RE: Old Yeller
Code a command that PW blocks a targeted player for a random number between 12 and 36 hours. Have it announce who has banned whom, and kick in 1-5 random hours later.
Variant 1: Only one player can be blocked at a time.
Variant 2: You can't be blocked again until everyone else has been blocked once.
Variant 3: If you block the last person other than yourself, you are also blocked with them.
Do not explain how it works.
If asked about it, explain that it is "working as intended."
Have it track who has banned whom and post that update once a week.

RE: The Apology Thread
@Miss-Demeanor How would you apologize for doing what you think is the right thing (up to a point), and not recognizing when the impact on other parties was more than the value of what you think is right (up to a point)?
Seriously, I'm asking.

So, sorta Battle Star Ender Royale.
Who knew the cheer squad were Cylons this whole time???
Who knew they were a Cylon this whole time?

RE: Outline of a possible MUSH
Stop saying D&D. D20 Modern would be way better, has gobs of examples, and is still a terrible way to deal with supernatural powers. Yay I am a vampire class.

RE: The guy who coded Kishi Kaisei MUX [L5R]
The new star wars game isn't that interesting.
It has new, mysterious dice, and some "new" mysterious things, but no focus on how to make the game go, or any new ideas. Its really entrenched in things that require charts.

RE: RL Anger
Look up how much each income bracket/population chunk pays into the federal tax system. It gives some interesting insight into the idea that everyone is paying, and the rich are definitely paying a lot more, though perhaps not a true fair share. Though determining a fair share is difficult.

RE: Geist Reconstruction
TR spheres suffered greatly from everyone being allowed to have a character in almost every sphere. You had tons of tagalongs available, but they mainly cluttered up the landscape, made people feel claustrophobic, but weren't active until someone else was there to spoon feed them fun.
This was very true of Geist. That's why I took my PC and visited and was terrified by the vampire sphere.

RE: What Would it Take to Repair the Community?
TL, DR: I don't think it's going to change. I also don't think it's exactly what people are saying it is.
@Kestrel Instead of tribes, perhaps social paradigms would be a better term. I personally prefer the term cluster, because it leaves whether anyone is closely linked out of it. And I see at least the two clusters being discussed.
The question for you becomes: what if people disagree with you and feel people were accountable enough?
I'm not satisfied with the accountability of actions here by non-staff, actions I find far more destructive than any administrative policing of a forum. Yet I manage. I even try to spot the tidbits I find engaging from anyone, even people I have argued with or would never trust as staff or a friend (unless they are on my never revisited blocked list).

RE: AD&D 2nd Ed
Wounds + Vitality felt a lot better to my group when we played, even with the additional questions of how much of each thing spells heal and so on.

RE: Cyberrun
I was noting that the (let's go with healthy and fairly positive) lives people here lived growing up would be forbidden to RP by the guidelines offered. I've seen that approach taken so far as to say that forbidden RP topics also can't exist as topics in the setting.
To me, highlights that 18 is a magical number in these considerations, especially when OFTEN people end up at 18-20 so it's really close to that line. If we're so concerned, why is that?
I get the concern about the skeevy people, and skeevy topics, I wondered what others had to say with as little prompting from me. That last part is a major part of why I am brief, or even cryptic.

RE: What Would it Take to Repair the Community?
@Warma-Sheen Oddly enough, people have gotten upset and even violent over "just a game" throughout history. Some are mad at the game itself and the outcomes in allows. Many are upset at the violation of social norms they attach to playing with other humans.
If one is mad that the King must move when in check, or that there is a death spiral in war games, one shouldn't play them.
If one can't communicate with other players, or stay well within the most common AND cooperative expectations of social interactions, one shouldn't be seeking them out. RL or in games.
Example: if you need to steal Thorpe's running shoes, maybe you shouldn't be near an Olympic running event.

RE: Cyberrun
I see your answer, thank you. I do wonder if others also agree that electing to play 18+ means they are electing to play an adult.
Does that strike a chord with other folks here?
And why doesn't Pris skeeve people? She's a 4 year old in an adult body, slated to be a sex worker.
PS It took me a long time to realize that Zhora was not designed a sex worker, yet that is where she ends up. It easy to see thats a comment on exploitation of women and replicants. I think it's also a sign of the replicants empathy. They didn't ask the one already designed and likely traumatized by sex work to do so again. Instead, the killer does it.
I may be thinking about Blade Runner too much.

RE: What Would it Take to Repair the Community?
@simplications who are you talking to? Are you talking generalities, or specifics?
What leads you to think that this or any other board/etc is devoted to outing predatory and destructive players? The Hog Pit wasn't designed for that purpose either. You can tell by how it's information is organized, its defining traits, and that very 100,000+ posts of content.
You've lost me.
Perhaps you could lay out exactly what you would do with your own forum?

RE: What do you eat?
I actually like some veggie burgers on their own. However, the last imitation meat I tried literally smelled and tasted of peas, and that was supposed to be the closest yet.
It made me sad.
I am sure we will get there.
