RE: Hardware
That was almost a romantic poem written about a keyboard. XD

RE: Hardware
For gaming purposes, mechanical OWNS. The key ghosting is far superior and allows for better flow of actions that require multiple key strikes in rapid order or at once. I can say that personally, using the WASD for movement is MUCH better on a mechanical keyboard. I'm more likely to see the character respond how I want them to, less missed dodges and rolls. Also... they tend to stand up better to wear and tear. Its not something that comes up terribly often, but if you're a gamer it can be an issue.
I use mine for everything from typing out emails and responses here to gaming MMO's and everything in between. Its blown away everything else that I've used by a long shot.

RE: Non-WoD Horror Game (Buffy, Cthulhu, Etc)
I think a lot of people forget that some of the best horror isn't suffering massive physical trauma before pulling some unexpected win over on the Big Bad. Its psychological. Its whatever truly terrifies you coming to life right in front of you. Speaking your deepest, darkest fears out loud. Showing you what you're afraid of. And that, is next to impossible to replicate, since very few people will list such things as actual fears for a character. Its part of why Freddy Krueger (the idea, not the character) made him SUCH a great horror villain. He got to people when they were the most vulnerable, took whatever they were most afraid of, whatever caused them the most guilt or angst, and used it against them. Jason and Michael were unstoppable killers, but they were a purely physical threat.
Of course, this is all personal conjecture and YMMV definitely applies.

RE: The State of the Chronicles of Darkness
Grappling is... yeah, pretty much a PITA no matter what. Though I still maintain that's because there's just too goddamn many merits and powers that affect it. The rolls themselves are straight forward and simple enough.

RE: The State of the Chronicles of Darkness
On combat: I still miss Aikido, Qinna, and Chain Weapons. They may not have been broken like Kung Fu or Combat Marksmanship, but they were FUN. Also... Martial Arts in GMC is still totally broken. Ask anyone that's fought against my Bruja.
On dhampir: I give approximately -3.5 fucks about them. 99.9% of which stems from the fact that I have read neither B&S nor the Half-Damned stuff. ^_^
Edit: More seriously, though... if they're anything like the dhampir I remember, may they DIAF slowly and painfully. >.>

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@HelloRaptor I do that now. I did not do that years ago when I started MU*ing... so I still have contacts on my list that I know I know them from somewhere, just not sure where or who. Though I don't always label people by MUSH names, generally just what I know them as. You, for instance, are not HelloRaptor on my Skype.
-
RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
That only works if you HAD the name of the person assigned to them before they started changing shit around. I don't know about you, but I have 133 contacts on Skype. I can guarantee I do not talk to all of them every week. If someone has changed their Skype name and picture since I spoke to them last... I no longer know who that person is.

@Luna said:
Now I've ended up deleting people from Skype and Facebook on pure accident. If you've got a weird name that you change from time to time and you change your picture, I start to forget who the fuck you are.
And this is why I've had the same Skype name/picture for YEARS. People like to be cute and/or witty with their Skype stuff but completely forget that maybe not everyone they talk to will recognize its them through their witticisms. I may change the picture every great once in awhile... but the name never changes.

RE: Fitness and Whatnot
@Monogram My personal diet is 14 days off carbs/sugars, 1-2 days on, and keeps switching back and forth like that. Its been working so far! I'm down a pant size and working towards dropping another with good results. Yes, its grueling, but its been worth it.

Related Peeve: People who insist on blaring their music at the top possible volume for their sound system and/or idiot bikers that feel the need to rev their bikes incessantly while at a red light. IF I WANTED TO HEAR YOUR SHIT, I WOULD PLAY IT ON A CD YOU SELFISH FUCKWAD.
*Empirical 'you'.
@Monogram I know your pain. A large white van with no back windows almost flipped itself AND practically started a three-lane, multicar accident because of assholishness. Namely, being a huge fucking van that attempted to cut across three lanes of traffic, including attempting to force its way into a gap FAR too small to accommodate its size on a busy highway.

RE: Good Things
Because I got my first full paycheck today, I am treating my mom to wings for the first time in YEARS. Good Daughter achievement unlocked!

RE: Good Things
My youngest remembered to write down his assignments AND brought his homework home. MAJOR accomplishment.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
On the school subject... all of my kids' work is still in paper form. Projects, essays, homework, everything. Also... administration can be good or bad, just like everything else. The administration at my teen's school? HORRIBLE. I go straight up the ladder to the district level for everything with him anymore because the school's administration seems to have an unspoken policy that everything is always the child's fault at all times... even when it isn't. When they gave the End of Quarter exams to my teen, the teacher giving the test insisted all the kids leave their cellphones on a ledge at the back of the room, and were told they could get their phone after they turned in their test. The teacher then promptly ignored the phones from that point on, allowing my son's phone to get stolen. The school did nothing, claims no responsibility, and refuses to reprimand the teacher for being a goddamn idiot. We had to pay the insurance fee to get him a new phone sent out for something he was forced to do by a teacher. The administration at my younger son's school, however, are INFINITELY more helpful and understanding. They've worked with me to ensure my youngest has everything he needs and all the help he could want when he's having trouble.
On manners... I still have to remind my teen that he needs to slow down, take smaller bites, and CLOSE HIS MOUTH. Because yeah, its disgusting and nobody needs to see/hear him hoovering his food. Thankfully, his younger brother has better table manners. >.>

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Having one kid in middle school and one kid in high school, I can unequivocally say to the parents who only ever blame the teachers... FUCK. YOU. Fuck you for taking NO time to invest in your own child's future. Fuck you for raising the next generation of entitled whiny bastards that MY kids will get taunted by.
My children, both of them, have IEP's in place for various reasons. My teen isn't doing too bad right now, though he could stand to do a little more at home in regards to studying. My pre-teen? He's in bad shape atm, and we're working hard to pull him back up. Which is why the nice tablet he got for Christmas is hidden away until his grades improve. Until he starts showing that he's taking the initiative and putting in the effort to do his school work. And its hard for him (and me, and the teachers) because there ARE kids in his classes with parents that take up a LOT of the teachers' time trying to defend their lazy ass crotch-spawn.
So yeah, my apologies to all the teachers out there dealing with those bitch-ass parents and students. Its because of the good teachers that my youngest son still has a fighting chance to pass this year since the state took away summer school for 6th graders. And only 6th graders. (separate peeve) Teachers rock and I don't know how the Hell you guys do it without bitch-slapping idiot people left and right.

RE: 1 Sphere, 2 Sphere, 3 Sphere, 4!
I had a mortal on HM... one that actually managed to stick her fingers into multiple other spheres' pies. It was fun for awhile. Then again, I could really say the same for every sphere I played on HM. >.>

RE: Dragon Age: Inquisition
Looking at the screen art, Sera looks like a baseline of Angelina Jolie ala Girl, Interrupted with a nose that's been broken enough to leave it slightly off-kilter and a butcher that cuts her hair. Got that constant scowl of Jolie's too. If the 'tude is the same... might have found why people either like her or hate her. YMMV

RE: XP Rollover
I get that, but the bulk of what I'm saying is that no matter HOW you handle it, there's going to be people who will complain that 'those' people are getting more cool things than they are and how unfair it is.
-
RE: XP Rollover
Negating 1's doesn't really do much in nWoD, since generally 1's don't count against your successes. There are instances where this CAN occur, but they're kind of few and far between. If you're going to purchase something like that, then purchase the ability to negate a penalty. And I don't mean negating someone's defense in combat, I mean more like... you have a note on you that says you have purchased the ability to negate 3 general penalties. You go into a plot and your Wits + Comp is penalized for darkness or or magic, whatever. Spend one of your purchases to negate that penalty.
For discounts... that's a bit sticky. If you're buying it, how much of a discount is it really, or is it a discount at all? It would have to be plotted out very specifically, and show enough of a discount to make people WANT to buy it. And people will do the math.
Purchasing 'inroads' is also a bit difficult, since that is generally counted through Allies/Contacts/Status merits. Which people pay xp for. Or through a relationship with an existing NPC, which requires active staff that actually portray said NPC's.
Any way you look at it, buying boons with rollover xp is still going to amount to 'why is this person getting something that I don't get'. Its going to be an issue regardless of what you do.
