@Kanye-Qwest Now I kind of wonder if I do more of them than I even realise. I guess it's pretty likely I do. I don't think they had me do that particular test... I'd be interested to know if it'd turn up something like that but I'm not sure I'm quite interested enough to actually wish for a tedious attention game.

RE: A theme-less, CGen-less game
I would use it before I used something like Discord. I've sometimes used Gateway this way for test-play for characters and such in the past. I probably wouldn't log in a lot, though, so it would probably need a good link somewhere so I didn't forget it existed.
I expect people can more or less behave, but it'd probably be best to make it easy for people to block others out from their existence. Being able to very easily lock rooms and ignore a given player would help when/if you got the 'less' version.
I like TinyMUX and TinyMUSH, personally.

RE: Do you RP to play a character, or get a character so you can RP?
Some of each, but I'd say more the former. The most common way I've ended up on games is to be pulled there by a friend already playing, so I've gotten a character so I could RP -- but then I RP to play the character. I don't app just anything to get on grid; it has to be someone I'm intrigued to explore (who also fits with the setting). I've got a couple character concepts I've had hanging around for ages that have never had a place they fit, and a couple games I never finished apping on because I couldn't find a character I honestly wanted to play who fit the place.

@Auspice Well, now I feel left out. Woe!

RE: Finding roleplay
@The_Supremes
The difference in my head between +vote and +recc is that +recc requires an explanation, and in my experience that seems to have been enough to prevent most of the rewards-for-one-brief pose, since most people aren't willing to do more work to reward someone than that person did to earn it. I think people tend to feel it requires more than "X showed up."On the other hand, I also find +reccs weirdly hard to write, and where they exist I've always ended up feeling like I was failing the people I play with because of how rarely I actually manage them even when they're highly deserved.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@Wretched ...I was going to say definitely not in my case, but... well, I do have to know part of what my character is going to do or say or have something specific that amuses me metawise to respond to part of things or I can't get started. But... beyond that, I often don't know where else it's going until it does. And I very definitely do the cut-and-paste frankenstein pose writing thing. Often the thing I started with ends up in the middle, or I get hit with what the end of the pose should be before I've written most of what comes in between... I usually have a blank file open in notepad++ to paste bits that get cut from a pose into so I can (I hope) use them in the next pose or later in the scene because they didn't really fit right in the one I wrote them in.
Sometimes I also get lost between paragraphs and have to go reread various parts of poses, or I have to go look up synonyms because I know what I want to say but the right word won't come on its own and my brain refuses to use the similar-but-not-right one.
I'm good on the spelling and (mostly) the proofreading and usually catch the redundancies, though. I'm also a pretty slow writer/poser. This fact is not unrelated to any of the rest of this post.

RE: [Poll in OP] Population Code
Yeah, the reminding people they're not the only people around aspect might be pretty handy sometimes.

@Wretched ...also, figured I'd mention BeipMU has spellcheck, if you ever decide you want a client that's not abandoned.

@ThatGuyThere
Yeah... it's worse if you accidentally upvote something, since people get immediately notified they did, and by whom. -

@Thenomain
I wouldn't claim horrifying, but if someone has a bit of social anxiety, it can be a little stressful deciding how to handle the situation. Therefore, it's worse than the accidental downvote, which is easily fixed with no one the wiser.
