Is Civ 6 a good game now? From what I heard, on release it wasn't worth the money. Humblebundle is giving it away if you subscribe to them so it sounds like a pretty good deal for $12.

I think it's a great game, but I kind of have since it came out. Had like 400 hours on it within 2 months, I think? You only get 2 expacs with the humble bundle though, and if you intend to do much online play, you'll probably need most if not all of the others. Elsewise you can just pick them up peacemeal.

It is the lowest you will ever receive the base game, though, and the other two major games in the bundle aren't bad either.

Also recently read, the Demon Cycle (first book: The Warded Man) by Peter Brett, and I quite liked it a lot. It's about a sort of post-apocalyptic fantasy world where every night demons manifest and try to eat everyone. A rough sort of civilization has managed to survive, just barely.

Very interesting magic system, good characters and cultures. It's got a good mix of action, character growth and diverse groups of people with different agendas all while hell is rising nightly.

Very fun books, and they get better, if convoluted. Make sure to look for the short stories, too. If you like audiobooks, Graphic Audio did that one, and it's very good.

Donno if this has been suggested before, and it's practically already done in Arx, but:

      Crusader Kings 2. Amirite?

I'm honestly not sure the plotting and shit could end up working out. I could see a lot of the politics of it becoming quite a clusterfuck.

Right? Wouldn't it be glorious? xD

We'd have so many horses as ministers.

Just repaired the daily workhorse 'doesn't suck to wear for 12 hours' bra for the 2nd time in as many weeks.

Might be time to retire her. 😞

There's a really good book by Susan Cain called "Quiet: The Power of Introverts In A World That Can't Stop Talking". She actually talks about the scientific research done regarding introverts and extroverts on a biological level, and it's some pretty fascinating stuff.

She also has a very interesting TED talk.

If you think you're an introvert, or even just know an introvert, or are an extrovert that wants to understand the difference, I highly recommend both.

Just read the transcripts of that video, very informative, great link. Certainly helps me understand much better on what being an introvert means.

If you liked it, the book might be very worthwhile to you. It opened my eyes to a number of interesting things in regards to the introvert/extrovert spectrum.

Cream chipped beef, which you cannot get here at all. I am tempted to get a dehydrator partly because I need one to make my own.

@ortallus Yeah, sorry, I wouldn't call that an ASCII art creator, it's a coloring tool, so I didn't think it's what you wanted.

Well, my memory was confused. I thought that it converted too, so it was my error, not yours. 😃 But this will be super useful!

Aha, you're right, I think it is the same one, after all! I guess I pasted in the ascii art after using another program, then colorized it, if I remember right.

I don't have a crafter yet, but I loved using it on Firan.

      Thanks muchly!

@ortallus There's a coloring tool on the web and for Windows for the full array of 256 colors, but I haven't seen an ASCII art tool beyond a few "image to ASCII" websites. Or, well, there's a paid software for Mac that I've used, but I imagine that's not what you're looking for. But if the tool you're thinking of just uses %r or whatnot, it'd work.

Yeah, it used %r%t and (######) style ascii. It was great. Written specifically by a Firan player, for Firan. I wish I still had it, but I think I dumped it after Firan went down.

Just out of curiosity, anyone have the ascii art creator that was meandering around Firan for a while? Would it work on Arx?

We have a 5 guys not too far from us. This is the only place we go for burgers these days, unless it's when my gf is getting off work at 12am and we're too tired (no spoons) to cook.

I don't think of taxation as taxation. I think of it as 'living in this country rent and fees'.

How about paying proportionally higher rent and fees than your much richer neighbor?

That's just the inequality of our nation, which is no longer a Republic, but an Oligarchy. It's becoming more and more 'cyberpunk' every day, with a good deal of Idiocracy thrown in.

Just FYI, going to personally ignore this thread. I think it's run it's course, and don't need to keep seeing it pop up.

Thanks to everyone for keeping it largely civil. I wish Armageddon the best, and hope that the people who go there and enjoy the setting enjoy it wholeheartedly. It's just not what I personally am looking for just now.
