https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLFEvHWD_NE Just absolutely WOW. I've loved multiple versions of this song, and even have it on Beat Saber, but this was my first time seeing this version, and it just blew me away. So moving.

A Kingdom Hearts MUSH, complete with battle ready Disney FC's, FC's from the games themselves, as well as from any SquareEnix property, and ability to make OCs.

Not really. I think of 'anime' as anything that is influenced by Japanese animation. So, The Boondocks fits, Avatar and The Legend of Korra fit, Exo-Squad fits, but Transformers does not.
Wait, Transformers doesn't fit this definition? The original series was literally animated by Toei.
How do you look at Megatron and not see Japanese influence?

RE: Good TV
@greenflashlight Why do you wonder this? Historically there have been many justifications that black people and brown people need white people to act as their moral guideposts because they're incapable of being anything other than crude heathens without them. It seems like a classic racist and colonialist argument that of course the ultimate arbiter of morality is going to reside with someone they view as white.
White Western Civilization is immorally destroying our planet, but 'primitive cultures' are often far more happy with their way of life.

@ganymede Heck, I made a private Discord server just to dump photos into for this purpose.

I need a place to live by the end of June. I was supposed to be moving into an apartment with my boyfriend then, but that isn't happening and I don't qualify on my own.
I'm currently in alabama and would like to live anywhere else. I have a cat, I have a car, and I work in food delivery so should be able to get a job as soon as car is registered to a new state.
I would prefer somewhere more liberal than alabama and preferably with legal weed. But literallu anywhere would have to be better.
sighs I've been there dude, I've so been there. What I can say is: You might have heard some good things about Portland, but it is not a place you want to move to, especially right now. Mostly because of the cost of living here more than anything else.
Wish I could offer you something better, and I really hope this works out well for you in the long run.

I haven't seen the show, but isn't there a white cop who profile Sam and is about to arrest him for bothering Bucky despite Bucky not being bothered? I swear I've seen a clip of that.
Aha, yep, you're absolutely right. They're even in a black neighborhood at the time, and it was actually Bucky bothering Sam.

@arkandel Agreed. It was the more subtle things that made the show good. Another was that as much as race was a theme of the show, I can't remember any white characters that were racist (maybe I missed some). Any negative issues with race were focused within the black characters and their experience with America (as a whole and as a Captain).
So they completely bypassed the old, overdone 'whites are racist' cliche and went to more relevant and dramatic themes of the black experience within the US and the dynamic of how we feel a part of America and also apart from it and how do we reconcile both of those things, which are almost universal for black Americans.
I definitely didn't sense any overtly racist characters either, though I wasn't looking for them or anything, and as such might have missed some. But it was as you say more about the experience of racism from the PoV of the black people.

@quinn I really like the idea of doing a symptom journal! I'll pass that along to my sister. Thanks!

RE: Returning to MU*ing, looking for recommendations
I see there were a couple guest logins this morning and someone spoke to Uta. I'm on now so if you guys need any help or have any questions hop on in. It really is a great place and I'd love to see more people join (even though they do have a good healthy pbase).

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@greenflashlight I'm doing fine after a good night's rest. Sister is worried because she doesn't know what's causing her symptoms, but doc's assurance that it wasn't anything 'imminently life threatening' was somewhat reassuring and she's back home. She's got an appointment with her primary care doc on the 18th, but I'm not sure what they'll be able to do.

I don't feel being white is particularly key to Tony Stark or Spider-Man in part because their iconic look is fully suited up.
I think being white is pretty key to Tony Stark, only because I'd very much want to know the backstory of how a black American got to be the richest man in the world after inheriting a position as the government's primary if not sole weapons supplier from his father during World War II. In a fictional world we're meant to understand closely parallels our own, him having those advantages in America while not being white opens a lot of question about how his planet's history unfolded differently from ours.
And it's good that Marvel is finally addressing these sorts of issues, a la Falcon as the new Cap and inclusion of Isiah Bradley.

RE: Returning to MU*ing, looking for recommendations
So I recently discovered Elder Tale Online, and was considering writing an advertising post for it, but I'll definitely plug it here for you:
It's an anime (Sword Art Online, ./hack and another, I forget) inspired Isekai game with a combat system reminiscent of Slay the Spire. You actually collect cards, and the cards can not only be used in combat, but they grant 'Concepts' for other things. It's kind of lengthy to explain here, but suffice to say, it's REALLY impressive how it's set up, and this is from someone who's been mushing for ~25 years.
ETO features a "Duty Finder" type system that is essentially like running a PUG on an MMO, in a dungeon, complete with random events. Except the PUGs aren't nearly as noxious as they are in MMOs.
The overall theme, being Isekai, is that everyone is trapped in a virtual MMORPG, and as such you have not just a 'player' level but also a 'character' level to your character bit. IE, you have yourself controlling the player of the game, who is trapped within their own character bit within that game.
The community so far has been nothing but helpful, compassionate, friendly, and welcoming, and I'd highly recommend at least poking your head in if you're MUSH shopping. FC and OC are both allowed, and the game's vast system allows for just about any fantasy (and maybe even some steampunk) concept to be playable.
The only thing I can't comment extensively on is the RP, as I've only been approved for about 2 days and haven't had much of a chance to dive in, but given the quality I saw from the one Duty I took place in, I'd say it's going to be pretty high quality.
Also, alts are allowed (up to 3) but time gated (I think every 25 days or something) and there is a very active playerbase with staff run scenes/plots.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Spent most of the day in the emergency room with my sister who had some stroke-like symptoms. CT Scan and MRI reveal no evidence of stroke, but might still have been 'mini strokes' they say. Being in an ER is so intensely draining under the best of circumstances, during COVID it's just whole body fucking ass kicked levels of stress inducing.

RE: Good TV
Horimiya is an absolute adorable marshmallow of a show. Good on you for stepping outside of your usual sphere.
This is where I frantically tell to anyone who listens that even though 95% of all things are shit, that 5% still exists for anime, and if anyone needs a starting point, let me know.
Ermagerd, did you know this was a thing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzlA0sYMUCU
