You allow known stalkers, with known pasts of stalking behaviors, to harass and slag other players. My messages blew up with a half-dozen regular posters who are afraid to speak up for fear of being further harassed here and on various games where they know those folks play, and who have mentioned other players who feel the same, by name.

You tolerate that, and it's why I mostly have stopped supporting or interacting with this site, beyond maintaining my ad thread. It's why a number of folks I know refuse to come here anymore, why even more read but refuse to post, and when this site's name come up, they assume it's just more shitposting and vendettas.

This is wora-level bullshit.

And yes, I have had to deal with players who were extremely shocked and hurt to see themselves and their friends harassed here, many of whom have never posted here at all. And you think that's okay, too. It's not okay. It drives players out of the hobby, especially new players.

I shouldn't even have to post about this, because it shouldn't be happening. If this site was genuinely good for the hobby, most people wouldn't be put off by the mere mention of it.

@Meg given how many people were injured and how close we were to it all (it was just down the street, I think the concern was valid. My FB blew up and I had to post a safety check.

Thank you for your concern anyway. I don't check this site anymore (I'll update this thread but that's it) but I'm sure it would have gotten back to me.

As some know, Stardust and I live and work on the Las Vegas strip as buskers. We've heard that some folks not on our game were worried about us, so: We are ok. SD was on the Strip when the shooting occurred, and was caught up in the panic and chaos that engulfed the Strip in the immediate aftermath, but she escaped safely and was in phone contact with me for part of it (it was very tense when she was not).

Cops in riot gear made checkpoints at every skybridge and exit point and were dispatched to each casino as panic spread. This both upped safety but made the process of escape much slower. Many of our local friends were, as I was, stuck watching news reports while waiting for our loved ones to check in.

While it's right beside the Strip, our complex is a gated community and security was out in force, listening to police scanners (as were we, and half the city I'm sure) to make sure to intercept any threats.

While our game is set in realtime, and many Las Vegas incidents have occurred on the game, this one will not. We a) feel that it's disrespectful to the injured and the dead to just RP about a tragedy of this magnitude, and b) we are already living it and could use the break, given that we were swept up in the drama ourselves.

People are welcome to talk about it ooc and anyone is welcome to check in, regardless of how folks left (someone did earlier, while we were asleep after a sleepless night processing it all). Whoever that was, thank you. I hope that no one here was hurt, or had loved ones who were.

The bitching topic in the hog pit is completely scrambled for me on my android phone, with recent posts coming up out of order or not showing at all. I have cleared my cache, reset everything, and it won't stop happening.

I was going to suggest exactly this. I do this myself because lupus makes whole classes really bad, and I never get shit for saying so.

I think there are a lot more MU*ers than people think. What games are doing to attract and retain them, and bring in new folks, is more important to worry about. Yes, a lot of roleplayers moved on to MMOs, but new folks are still joining the hobby.

F&L has a pretty big proportion of first-time MUSHers, and they bring their friends. We can't be the only one, and WoD is super-saturated as it is.

I really should charge for the data entry, tho. I love to code, but data entry for some strange reason makes me tense, which over time makes me nauseous. I think it's because I don't focus my eyes as tightly as others can (c.f. my war against ansi), but any time I have to turn a large amount of numbers from an RPG book (say, feral forms or something), I know that I want to do almost anything else. Insert something funny but also kind of disturbing here.

They should be back soon to help. Thank you for hanging in there in the meantime.

Edit: i'd be fine with punting you some $$$ next month actually. Right now we're having to raise $2200 in 10 days to unexpectedly move to a better place because mold (pipe backed up, I had to shovel slime out of the middle of the house). Bonus: directly behind the strip, gated community.

My diabetes got much worse after chemo and is not improving (I can't get my numbers to budge lower than 250 no matter how much insulin I take) so I'm having to start pitching a lot of food and making different choices. We're moving at the end of the month, so I can just not bring any of that into the new place.

Cut him off. I had to do this during my cancer as it triggered a few friends' constant rabid evangelizing against my treatment, for unproven fringe quackery, and on and on. I'm like, look, I'm dying, now is not the time to stress me by telling me my (very kind and compassionate) onc is witholding a cure. These types no longer value you, just their growing craziness. Your friend is dead.
