RE: Good TV
@ganymede ...They did a Shoresy show? EEEEEEEEEEEEE! (Is it on Hulu as well?)

RE: Shows and Movies We're Looking Forward To
@derp I'd say they were my favorite part of the movie, but it's hard to say that when that movie was my intro to Val Kilmer. Mmmm, Madmartigan.
However. The brownies are perfection and my most-quoted parts of the movie. (Other than "Tempting...but no.")

RE: Shows and Movies We're Looking Forward To
@derp I'm still squealing with anticipation on that one! I was in high school when the movie came out and I've been quoting bits of it ever since! (Especially the "You are drunk, and when you are drunk, you forget. I am in charge." The whole sequence.)

RE: Good TV
Somebody Feed Phil has a new season up on Netflix. That's my go-to show for restoring my faith in humanity. Plus, the bits of Yiddish he puts in just delight me, and the food generally looks good.

RE: Wild Cards
@lotherio I always enjoyed how Wild Cards started because the authors were playing a superhero TT. They spent so much time at it that they realized they were losing money, turned it into a book series that was so poplar that GURPS turned it into two supplement books, (one was Wild Cards, the other was Aces Abroad.)
But I'm hoping the show doesn't suck.

RE: Too Much
@lotherio One of the games I was on did it so that most of the scenes were "anyone and everyone can sign up, but we're going to be splitting this into smaller groups."
The groups tended to be up to about 10, depending on size. Sometimes it worked brilliantly, sometimes not so much. All depended on the ST's mindset at the time and how invested the players were.

RE: Positivity Going Forward...
@ghost I have to admit, I find myself agreeing with you more today than I have in years. Thank you for saying a lot of what I've been thinking and haven't been able to articulate.

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
The pledge ended, but there was a Kickstarter for a game, "Old Gods of Appalachia". (Yes, based off the podcast.)
I want it as a game, so bad. Eldritch horror in the mountains during the turn of the century? Gimme. (The idea is that there were gods that got imprisoned in the Appalachian mountains. They weren't ever meant to be released. But men came. And they dug too deep.)

RE: Something Completely Different
@rightmeow Thank you, I appreciate that.
@Selira From the level of empathy and understanding that you regularly display, I offer your words back to you: maybe you should re-read what you post and go off and think about what your own behavior. Calling people assholes instead of addressing their behavior isn't empathetic or understanding. Just expedient.

RE: Something Completely Different
@rightmeow How is it a dogpile to give an example when asked for one? I genuinely don't understand that. Plus, quite a number of people who were dogpiling weren't banned. They may have left, but that was their decision.
I'm not naming names, I'm giving examples. That were requested.
Also, @Selira, on the Current Events thread, Derp said nothing I wasn't thinking. If one is going to be emotive on a debate thread and then be upset that it's debated, shouldn't one have taken one's emotions to the emotion thread entitled RL Sads, where the appropriate response is the validation one is looking for?
-
RE: Something Completely Different
@selira I already provided an example. Another one is where everyone was telling Derp how awful he was for suggesting that we have a political conversation in the Politics board instead of an emotional one. That was straight up bullying, that wasn't about his actual opinion on a political event, that was just "you're so mean, shut up."
-
RE: Something Completely Different
@greenflashlight I can provide one.
The argument over wanting evidence to ban someone on a game, even minimal evidence. There were a great number of those that were banned who were arguing that no evidence was needed, believe victims wholesale just because they said it.
Derp came down on the side of "Uh...that's not ok." (So did I, so did a number of people who I'll not name out of courtesy.)
Derp was the only one who was told what a terrible, misogynistic, evil rape apologist he was for wanting basic facts. But a HUGE percentage of people who were arguing it did it. What is that but brow-beating, name calling, and bullying?
No one called me a rape apologist for saying believe-but-verify. Why is that, do you think?

RE: Something Completely Different
@glitch My point is that this place doesn't exactly have a good reputation. Gany's trying to make it better but people walking because they're upset that they can't make personal attacks doesn't exactly make people look good, either. Also, I am not a pinky, right now, I am giant upraised middle finger.
I deleted my comment, btw, (to everyone, not just at glitch) because I am having a hell of a rough time IRL and decided I might have been overdoing it. I'm not exactly even-minded just now. My original comment is going to remain deleted.

RE: Stepping Down
@mietze As always, if you need anything, tell me. Do what's right for you.

RE: Something Completely Different
@lotherio I also saw the behaviors you're speaking of. Thank you for speaking up where I don't have the spoons to get into it now.

RE: Hog Pit as read only
@runescryer I could swear that the Politics board was opt-in, once upon a time, but I might be really wrong. Either way, it's not a bad idea.
