Why oh why did I tempt fate earlier this week by bragging about how I had not had a bad cold all winter

RE: Historical MUSHes
If historical accuracy doesn't matter too much, there's at least one and possibly two 7th Sea games in the works. The one I know of for certain is being made by a friend I used to play with on Holotrek and WNO. I've been helping her with the code and it's really starting to shape up (it's Evennia, btw). The other one could be just a rumor. One of the people that logs on to my friend's game has occasionally remarked that she's working on her own game. No one has seen any proof of this yet, so far as I know.

RE: Best (PnP) RPGs of 2018?
I have Tiny Frontiers and Tiny Dungeon (both revised ed) and I am really liking both.

There's a system for Pcs and GMs trading off bennie
I was not at all impressed with their Star Trek game, in fact, I can honestly say that it is one of the few games that I've ever truly regretted purchasing. Last Unicorn, Decipher, and FASA all did it much better.
LUG Trek would work much better for an online game, IMO.

RE: (Online RP) Dark Age: Redemption, an Ultima Online Shard
Remember it? Hell, I was a beta tester. I played for years on the Chesapeake and Atlantic shards and only quit when Anarchy Online came out (which I still play, btw) because I found it a better game.
I tried playing UO again when it went f2p but I just couldn't get back into it. Good to see it's still around, though.

RE: RL Anger
Dentures don't seem to be as bad as most people think.
I have no personal experience with them but I had a really close friend who had all of his teeth removed when he was 32 (due to gingivitis) and within a week he was eating like a champ. He said it took about 3 days to get used to them, after that things were pretty much back to normal.
Dental insurance is fairly cheap, can be bought as a standalone thing (ie, doesn't need to be packaged with health insurance) and there's usually no waiting time to have work done. It'll also cut the cost of dentures in half (sometimes more, depending on your plan). If you qualify for ObamaCare, you should check to see if your state's insurance broker offers dental. Here in MD it's available through the Health Exchange for $4.99/month and it's a good plan through Delta Dental, one of the major providers. The total cost for both plates should be under $3000, with insurance, which beats the heck out of $50k+!

RE: Error when logging in to MSB
@Arkandel said in Error when logging in to MSB:
@RnMissionRun Look at the URL you're trying to access.
I'm not trying to access it, that's the page that the server is attempting to open after I log in. The URL is coming from MSB, it isn't something I typed in.

RE: RL Anger
@surreality Holy cow that's a lot of money! Are you getting implants or something?

RE: twitch
I stream as well, mostly LoTRO and TESO game play but sometimes, when I'm really bored, I stream my Evennia game development sessions. I do it strictly for fun, I have no interest in making money off it.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2019
I never cared much for their music but when I was a teenager in the 90's, I developed a mad crush on Peter Tork from watching reruns of the old Monkees tv show on Nickelodeon. Has it really been over 20 years? Le sigh.
RIP.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I've only lived in two apartments in my life. One was a crappy one room place in Catonsville MD, with roaches the size of mice and rats the size of small cats. It was awful but it was my first place so I put up with things for two years before moving out. What prompted me to move out, the outlet closest to my bed stopped working so I went to replace it. That's when I discovered that the wiring was solid copper with cloth insulation that crumbled to dust the moment I touched the wires.
The second was when I moved back to MD from NY and got a 1br apartment in a big apartment complex. The apartment itself was Ok but the landlord was constantly coming into my apartment. I would come home from work at least twice a week to find a note stuck on the door telling me that they had come into my unit for various reasons, 'inspection' being the most common but they were also using my unit to show prospective new tenants the layout of my style of apartment. The former I could understand but the latter pissed me off to no end. I got the hell out of there as soon as my lease was up.
The moral of the story is, rentals suck.

RE: Best (PnP) RPGs of 2018?
@Ghost I had someone on the Evennia IRC channel point Tiny D6 out to me a while ago, now I'm using it on the sci-fi game I've been working on. I really like D6 but feel it's too 'heavy' to use in an online game. Tiny D6 is a great compromise.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
You haven't experienced real mouth pain until you've stabbed the roof of your own mouth repeatedly with a red-hot X-acto knife trying to lance an abscessed tooth.
It did ultimately relieve a lot of the pain but for an hour afterwards all I could do was rock back and forth on my heels while holding a heating pad against the side of my cheek and crying like a baby.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I never saw a dentist the entire time I was growing up, and I had no reason to. My teeth were fine until I moved out of my parent's house and started feeding myself regularly. Thanks to a regular diet of soda (which I never had growing up) and ultra-processed fast food crap (again, which I never had while growing up), I ended up with 3 fillings and a crown before I was 30 It really doesn't matter how often you brush and floss when your diet is horrible, your teeth are going to suffer.
I cook at home a lot more now and I try to avoid soda (I sometimes treat myself to a diet Dr Pepper because it's the awesomest soda over), sugar and stuff. It seems to be working because I haven't had a problem in a while (except for a filling that came out).

RE: RL things I love
In light of the crappy weather, I'm recommending this to everyone for dinner tonight!
