To be honest I don't see the point to this since it sounds like you're basically duplicating functionality that OGR has offered for years that no one now seems to want or need.

If you do it anyway, for God's sake use PennMUSH with @grapenut's awesome web interface thingie.

For the past two months (on and off), they've been replacing the roof at work. There's been a lot of noise, but nothing too disruptive, at least, until Monday morning.

For the past 3 days, they've had something with a loud motor running right over top of our unit. It makes the entire roof reverberate and is so loud that you have to speak up to be heard, even when the person you're talking to is standing right next to you. I hate noise anyway, so it's been driving me nuts!

Man, I hope they finish soon.

I generally like Filipino food, but you couldn't pay me enough to eat balut. Or pineapple on pizza.

I got introduced to MU*s by someone I met in college. It seemed like an acceptable substitute for tabletop gaming and for a while, it was. This was back in 1996.

I have sympathies for anyone stuck doing inventory in any kind of retail environment. I had to do that shit working at Radioshack and it was never a pleasant experience and corporate often did all they could to make it a horrifying painful night.

I would have rather swallowed razorblades.

      I agree.

I've been dealing with an employee theft situation all this week at work, which required me to inventory the entire store alone and by hand. It was not fun.

@thenomain Oh, I didn't notice that one! I ended up buying both, even though I already own the entire set of CP2020 books in printed form. Thanks for the heads up.

@rnmissionrun Obamacare isn't an insurance company. It's a series of mandates FOR the insurance companies. Insuring that the pool of people includes young and healthy people is part of "Obamacare".

I know. I was referring to it in the generic sense of "insurance for people who couldn't otherwise afford insurance".

It's kind of a crapshoot with insurance, really, but.... that's also kind of the idea behind it? Like, that's how the company makes money? It's a shared pool of funds that only works if most people are paying more into it than they're getting back out of it. That's also why it's a fairly shitty way to manage healthcare because sooner or later, pretty much everyone is going to need to use it for something major. Unlike homeowners insurance, where it's unlikely that everyone's house is going to burn down at some point

They're counting on having enough subscribers that don't actually need the health insurance (ie young, healthy people) to balance out the number of people who do actually need it. This works for the big companies such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield but not for ObamaCare.

I really love how you can go to the marketplace, qualify for a certain amount of help towards a premium. And then STILL be paying over a hundred bucks a month for a single person with a 6000 dollar deductible. Like....isn't it just cheaper to pay out of pocket unless something really, really, really bad happens? 'cause I'll never spend 6k a year for just going to the dr when I get the seasonal crud.

It's cheaper, until something serious does happen, or you require prescription medications that cost hundreds of dollars per month.

My company offers a decent dental plan through CareFirst but it costs $42 per month, which is crazy for dental insurance. I ended up cancelling the company plan and going with Delta Dental. Same benefits, less than half the cost.

My health insurance costs went crazy after ObamaCare went into effect and they continue to go up every year 😕

The game is down. As many of you know, Theorem's been ill so he's not available to bring it back up. It's possible @tangent might be able to but maybe not. So just keep trying to log in every so often and we'll see what happens.

Not to derail the thread, but I wanted to say that some of us that used to hang out with Theorem on the Rhost-Dev MUSH had been wondering what happened to him (he hasn't been seen since September).

I'm sure that I speak for all of us on Rhost-Dev when I say how sorry I am to hear that he's been ill, and wish him a speedy recovery.

@rnmissionrun I dunno what 4.x does. 5 was hard code that had 0 drag (so you can coast forever for 0 fuel), can change heading without changing vector (for sweet drifts?), everything was module-based (so you could have a catalogue of parts, and have multiple of the same thing installed for ++good silliness), and newtonian physics that included the mass of cargo for deltaV calculations (takes a lot longer to increase speed when your cargo hold is full).

... and maybe some other stuff.

Sounds good, but only if it's actually usable, and from what I recollect, it isn't. I'd be curious to hear whether you could even get it to build with modern PennMUSH.

The last time that I checked, Hspace5 was unfinished and basically unusable. What does it do that the 4.x line does not?

Just create a launcher for Potato and then you won't have to worry about using the terminal to start it. The process is slightly different from distro to distro but the basics are the same. Check out this quick and dirty video tutorial.
