Yeah, I remember downloading MUDRammer specifically because the developer was posting on WORA and listening to feedback, which I thought was cool.

RE: iOS client?
I use MUDRammer, which is solid. I also make eyes sometimes at @Sparks for PuddleJumper, the someday iOS version of Atlantis.

RE: RL things I love
I assumed Sunny's "I love when Garnet sings" was more general show love, versus specific recent episode.

The law is one thing, and reality is another. I get this. I've been there with the ex and the kidlet. I'm sorry you have to be in this situation. You don't deserve it.
That's actually why I dislike this area of the law. Because it's divorced from reality, and not in an ironic way.
Yeah, I know you're a lawyer, and also my lawyer bestie is like I HATE FAMILY LAW SO SO SO MUCH.

Thank you for your brilliant observation and critique about how to fix my mental issues, and for your dismissive, superior attitude.
The converse: if you don't believe that my advice will help fix your issues, then please avoid telling me as I'm conditioned to suggest solutions when people bring problems.
The other converse: sometimes people are working on plenty of solutions on their own or are receiving advice elsewhere and are just venting a bit for the emotional relief it provides. I mean, if I were friends with you, I'd literally mark you mentally as "never vent to this friend because they can't not problem-solve." There's also a problem with not being able to listen to someone's venting without trying to solve it.

Anxiety and panic attacks. I'm not sure 'peeve' is a strong enough word. Maybe the peeve is when people say 'oh just do X (think positively, ignore it, meditate, exercise, take meds, etc)' to get over it. OMG I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT in the 3 years I've been dealing with it! Thank you for your brilliant observation and critique about how to fix my mental issues, and for your dismissive, superior attitude.
I know how to fix anxiety issues! Just stop being so anxious!

Oh, here's one. Someone tells me I can't be seriously mentally ill because I have a degree. Wow. Thanks... I feel a lot better about it now...
Whoever said that hasn't met some of the scientists I have.
Whoever said that hasn't met, like. Anyone.

Does this count as a RL thing?
After the GoT season finale today I get to see the internet explode. Hee. Hee hee. Hah.
It's the Red Wedding all over again!
The explosions from people who don't know what's coming are everything to me.
Now that's all over though.

That's when they learn to go to the farmer's market by themselves.
I get groceries on my own. I do errands on my own. I go to work on my own. And when the partner is in bed, and the kids are sleeping, I MU* on my own.
People need to learn to do shit on their own. Doing shit together is fun and all, but I hate people who can't do shit on their own.
+11111111111111111111. Last night I was hanging with friends for a birthday celebration, and today I'm on my own, running around getting coffee, grabbing some awesome tacos, and then catching a movie. IT'S OKAY TO DO THINGS BY YOURSELF.

RE: Mac Client Recommendations?
I didn't say that adding words wasn't a valid solution for people who want to do that, only there ARE ways in can get in the way even if you're a good speller, which had been stated couldn't be the case. Like ThatOneDude said, it can just drop in and switch words that aren't what you meant, you have to go back and fix it, etc. And the person who was asking about turning off autocorrect had asked how to do it globally.
-
RE: Mac Client Recommendations?
@Arkandel Right, but, like -- you didn't read what I said. I know you can add words to the dictionary, it's just a pain with how many words you have to add all the time in a RP context when so many words aren't already in a dictionary. And if it doesn't actually help you because you're already a good speller, it just gets in the way, so why not just turn it off.

I actually know a lot of people who typed like "hi i m teh newbie who had questions for you", who admittedly benefit from the autocorrection. With that feature on, they end up with 'hi I am the newbie who had questions for you' which at least looks slightly less egregiously awful.
I admittedly turn it off myself globally, but still. There ARE people who benefit from it!
Honestly, I like to know when people type like that versus typing better when they're a new person on my game.

Just because you're an awful speller doesn't mean you're an idiot. If you're a proficient speller, I can't see how it would get in the way of too much anyhow.
I think the example Sparks gave is pretty relevant just in terms of 'you should type at a certain level of proficiency when you're playing a text-based game.'
I'm a really good speller, but the autocorrect does get in the way. It's hard to continually add words all the time, and roleplaying has tons of words outside the normal dictionary that pop up.

@pixidusty — like @Roz said, if you want to turn autocorrection off for everything on your system, just do so in the System Preferences. If you just want it off in Atlantis (or any other application), then the trick I listed above will work for you.
I know I turned it off for my computer because I'M NOT ON A PHONE, APPLE, I HAVE A FULL KEYBOARD AND CAN TYPE FOR MYSELF THANKS.

@Roz I can tell. It would definitely save the effort of having to (occasionally, but repeatedly) explain why the fact that line 32 looks different from every other line has told the computer to display things differently. I enjoy helping people, but when the non-techie has a "what is this sorcery" response to something that I see as a simple and abundantly obvious pattern, it causes unnecessary stress.
Oh man I feel yoooooooooooooou

@Roz I'm definitely using that next time I set up a new wiki and have a couple of days to dig through syntax.
Lemme know if you ever want to hash stuff out! You can see what I've done on TLF's wiki with logs, character pages, Semantic Forms, etc. Although really I owe pretty much all of it to a co-staffer from a different game, who invented the wheel for it that I'm using now. The forms are especially helpful for players who are wiki-shy.

RE: Wiki Guru
@Sammi We basically use Semantic Mediawiki to store -- pretty much everything as what SMW calls "properties" in their database. Have a log? The participants are saved and attached the log, and you can drop a table or list onto a character page of logs their character has been in with a simple #ask function. We also do this to track information about plots, characters, and even users in regards to things they've GMed, etc. It's pretty awesome.

For any of my fellow wiki admins who haven't tried it out, utilizing Semantic MediaWiki and then Semantic Forms to provide users a form to fill out for character pages, logs, etc. can be super powerful and fantastic.
Seconded! You can do some really amazing things with SemanticMediawiki. I keep meaning to write a guide to it, but... lazy.
Annnnnnd if you store character information in a mysql database, you can also import that straight into your wiki and even then have the wiki autocreate character pages, pulling in basic info and then letting players customise the rest.
Yesssss. We're still getting our MySQL database set up for TLF, but that's our end goal.
