    • RE: criticism not allowed in ad threads is only enforcing a false positive, prove me wrong

@thenomain I really wish you would stop doing this. I have been trying really hard not to get into it with you over it. We have a lot of friends in common that I really don't want to upset by making war about it, especially when I know that it will just upset you and them to no purpose.

But I think you're presenting what happened in a very unfair way because your feelings were hurt and you're disappointed that you won't get to play with your friends on SL, and I sympathize with those things.

So all I'm going to say here is that they're not questionable staff. They're not inexperienced staff. I've been playing and running games with @tat in particular since 2005. And if "four people" are going to anonymously support your position? OK. I guess you were "warned", then.

@Wizz Depends. Sometimes he produces good stuff, other times he produces self-congratulatory drek. Sometimes within the same franchise.

Yeah I loved simplemu but its lack of color support killed it.

    • RE: A Lack of Imagination

I very rarely can make an image at all. Mostly I think in text. I've been able to make my brain "see" comic panels very occasionally during RP and I find it very helpful.

Sounds and kinesthetic details I find way more relevant to building a "feel" than visuals, because I just rarely manage to make them appear in my brain at all.

    • RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC

Like, sorry for double post, but to clarify, my point was more that manic pixie dreamgirl is one of those tropes that is definitely popularized based on its relevance to MEN, and I don't doubt that dudes playing lesbians often think they are being "chic" about this, but I've seen female players fall into the same trap. I think the extensive appearance of the trope in all forms of media contributes to that a great deal. People thinking that it's a "right" way to play a woman because that's how they seem women portrayed all over the place -- even people who should know better.

My mom who died in 96 loved Little Richard, one of her absolute favs. This is a tough one.

    • RE: What's your nerd origin story?

My parents definitely raised me this way. We read together a lot when I was little, many nerd books (starting with the Hobbit and then onwards). Also, all the Star Trek. ALL OF IT. When I was 10 or so, my mom penciled several pages of a graphic novel adaptation of my favorite Star Trek novel at the time, and she tried to teach me how to ink comics on those. I look back on that now in horror of what I did with her lovely pencil art.

    • RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?

@juke Yeah there are definitely NPCs I wouldn't share. There are also NPCs that I wouldn't be comfortable stepping into the shoes of because that is someone else's NPC and I don't think I could do their NPC voice justice. I think that existing in the list is awk, but I understand that its presence in the list combined with those other factors is problematic.

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

it took me three hours to make 4 mailings today because I kept printing out the wrong thing, throwing away the wrong thing, taking calls, getting up to make coffee, stopping to dance with the dog, having to make a new envelope because I put the wrong sticker ...

Assessment soon. Also did my cognitive assessment this morning after breakfast. Knock on wood.

Five minutes is a really long time to sit and watch letters flash across the screen waiting to hit the spacebar on one letter.

It cracks me up whenever Gany writes a concurring opinion.

I rememberon SL an event at one point where we were supposed to play up the gratuitous cheesecake angle like we were on a WB show or something and ... my posing did not noticeably change.

      ... oops?

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

Yesterday I paid the bill from my ADHD assessment. The one I didn't get, because I wrote the date down wrong on the calendar and failed to attend. I played phone tag with the office for awhile and then faded slowly into non-existence out of shame, guilt and probably depression. Forced myself to call and leave another message yesterday, but they haven't called me back.

So I'm $500 out of pocket & still no closer to getting treatment. They're not open on Fridays too so I can't call them again today.

I started this process in December.

      I'm tired and sad.

@Derp I did terrible on my first round of the LSAT, took it again after a year of actually preparing and stuff, and did well enough to get a big fat scholarship to GU (go bulldogs or whatever). You can always go again if it turns out too stressful for optimized performance.
