That's why I try not to define it on rosters -- literally any of the characters I wrote (with the exception of Jasher) could be any sexuality in the hands of a player with whatever preference for playing them that way (and oh god I counted the other day and I've written more than 30 what is wrong with me).

I'm super disappointed.
Belatedly usually when I'm writing rosters I don't try to explicit anything about sexuality and leave that up to the player, but when I wrote Jasher I was just super enchanted with the idea of the gay Thrax paladin archetype just because the gender stuff in Thrax has the most room for ??? -- I'm glad you like him.

Wow, I did not expect my makeouts to end up on the game ad thread for some reason. Am I that hot?

RE: RL Anger
I have been sick for literal weeks. My third doctor visits was yesterday to the conclusion that yes, I do still indeed have bronchitis.
I resolved to go to work today (some stuff really needs to get done and the doctor said it should be fine for me to work, which maybe was not what I wanted to hear bUT YOU KNOW). Took my new antibiotics last night (we are trying a different one since the last one did jack shit). Took me two hours of thrashing around to fall asleep. Woke up at 3:30 for no reason. Tried to go back to sleep. Picked up my phone and started messing around at about 4:15.
My alarm clock is going off in 20 minutes. I couldn't get any toothpaste to come out of the tube today.
Everything is terrible.

@Cupcake That's a good feeling. There's nothing more fun than doing ship RP with someone who is just as engaged as you are when nobody is a creeper.

RE: Sensitive cultural/political/religious aspects of game themes.
There is a noticeable difference between recognizing that a player is complaining that your game isn't what they want and suggesting they not let the door hit their ass on the way out ... and reacting badly to any criticism. Whether it's drapes or bitching about your open floor plan doesn't really matter. Some things are worth taking critique about and some things are somebody who is not going to be happy with your game period so why court them?

I am so sick right now but my boss called in sick first so I had to cover.

MU things I love include @Roz's characters without a shirt. Not actually relevant to what she just said. I'm just helping.

I know that "trust staff" is hard for a lot of people with gaming PTSD, but at every turn I have watched these staffers deal well with masses of players who all have some level of gaming PTSD (including me). I don't really know Custodius aside from reading reputational screeds on MSB et al, but I feel pretty good backing up KQ here.

I think it's my favorite system too. That and being bribed for writing journals, because I like journal writing for characters anyway.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
I don't always make them all -- Thanksgiving week, surprisingly enough, was a terrible time to try and RP with random people -- but it gives you a new set every week to try with for the cron and I've definitely had some scenes that I wouldn't have had if not for @randomscene. And, since everyone gets them, you can always turn out to be someone else's @randomscene, which is like a surprise bonus getting sought out for somebody ... and since both sides of the @randomscene get extra RP, it's like a giant wave of inclusion for new players as well as motivation for people who've been around longer to go out and hunt, but also motivation for people to be like "Sure, I'll RP with you, random person I don't know! Woot, extra XP."

I love @randomscene for breaking me out of established rp patterns. Adding new pcs to the list to specifically reward players for hunting down newbies and pinning them to the nearest butterfly board was smart as hell.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
There's nothing that grinds a scene to a halt faster than slavish dedication to pose order. Especially when people wander AFK without saying anything or just aren't tracking the scene. I don't skip order to steal the spotlight/railroad people/be the answer to everything. I skip order to stop scenes from bogging down in stultifying slowness while people dither around trying to decide what to do/what's okay to pose/whose turn is it/whatever.
Nothing throws me out of a scene more than extended periods of silence while no one is posing. I find it very frustrating and immersion-breaky.

I personally hate pose order tracking systems because they encourage exactly the pose order police attitude KQ is concerned about here.

@surreality A lot of people hate jury duty. It's okay to not want to be there. Personally I know they'll never put me on a jury for ANYTHING, and I get jealous of people who get to serve, but really! You'll probably have other opportunities to serve. If you're up front that you don't feel like you can be impartial, you'll get challenged for cause and you won't burn anyone's peremptory and you'll get to leave.
