Okay, neither of these count as YouTubers but I love these videos and they're on YouTube so it sorta counts?

WIRED Expert Breakdowns -- my favorites in this series is when the dialect coach breaks down movie accents.

The Try Guys -- always a delight and educational too!

@Kestrel It took me a while to buy into his Fleabag character since my only exposure to him previously was as Moriarty on Sherlock. I kept waiting for the priest to do something really fucked up and evil.

Everyone who doesn't put The Last Jedi at the top/near top of their ranking lists is wrong.

You can't fight universal truth so don't bother trying.

And since we are on the topic, here's my final ranking:

Ugh, this is not complete. Where is Caravan of Courage (this is the Ewok one with the random kid actors .. the marauders lose here before they show up in the Mandalorian, spoiler alert) or The Holiday Special.

The holiday special is on there! It is #8. Unless there is another holiday special that I am not aware of!

I forgot about the Ewok one. Hmm. Probably somewhere in the range of 'Star Wars kid in his garage' but above 'Cats'.

Alright, apparently I can't get the spoiler tags to work(??) so here's a link to my super super spoiler-filled Twitter rant on what I did not like TRoS:

      5. Rogue One
      6. Force Awakens
      7. (three-way tie) the prequels
      8. The xmas Special
      9. Star Wars kid in his garage
      10. Every single scenario that I played out as a kid with my toys

I thought Rise of Skywalker was horrifically and absolutely terrible and I cannot think of one single moment, beyond the initial titles (but before the scroll) and fanfare, in the entire 2 hours 22 minutes that I enjoyed.

      JFC.

@Wretched I kind of skimmed through Arrow out of necessity because I was drawing on an Arrow sketch card set once. I couldn't get into it; it really bugged me that that his facial scruff grew down his neck. Just .. shave, man. Shave that neck.

I will give one 'quibble' to Carnival Row, they introduce a sort of steampunk aesthetic early on and it runs through the series in the background but then never really seems to do anything beyond being window dressing.

I know this is really old but ...

It's that exactly what steampunk is? All appearance, no function.

I started using "coke" exclusively since that time I asked for an "Ice Cream Soda Float" at a restaurant and they brought me soda water with an ice cream scoop in it.

Hopefully the series will improve the characters because RJ's inability to mature his female characters was one reason I abandoned the books. Having them be petulant children who didn't communicate their feelings ('If you don't know why I'm mad, I'm not going to tell you' HRMPH braid tug) in the beginning was fine because they were children. But having them behave EXACTLY the same after time and experience and increasing responsibility made me be like 'fuck this shit'.

      In other news...

Succession is awesome and I loved Euphoria. Zendaya's acting was heart breaking.

Jon and Dany are made for each other. They're both shitty leaders. They are both dumb as all get out. And they both ignore Sansa's good opinion.

Before the Battle of the Bastards --

Sansa: Don't let Ramsey bait you into a trap. Rickon is already dead. You can't save him.
Jon: ~immediately falls for Ramsey's bait and tries to save Rickon~
Result: Lost the battle (until Sansa saved his ass with her Vale backup) and got most of his men killed

After the Battle of Winterfell --

Sansa: Your troops are tired and injured. Give them time to recover before sending them off to fight again.
Dany: ~immediately sends her troops off to fight~
Result: Loses another one of her dragons, gets her most trusted advisor murdered, suffers losses to her navy

WHY ARE PEOPLE FOLLOWING EITHER OF THEM?! JDHKSJHDKSJHKD..

@Sockmonkey. It was a build up for all those years and what did we learn about the White Walkers? Nothing. We didn't learn why the Night King wanted to kill Bran, we didn't learn what his real motivations were.

Well, they did talk about why he wanted to kill Bran in the episode prior, and there was a bit of back and forth. About the Night King wanting to destroy all of humanity and its history, and Bran holds all of that history within himself.

I am totally here for more female superheroes.
I am totally here for female characters given more depth.
I am totally here for female narratives being pushed in film.

.. but that GIRL POWER hero shot was awkward AF. It didn't feel empowering to me. It didn't feel like it was righting a representational wrong. It felt like Disney trotting out all their female characters and being like:

'Look! Ladies! We got shiny ladies! GIVE US A PAT ON THE BACK!'

I'm not here for that. Make it seamless. We exist in this world and are heroes every single day alongside other humans. Represent that.

I think it is clear that the showrunners are just focusing on set pieces and moments that will 'look cool' rather than delivering story or paying off the lore that has been building for eight and a half seasons.
