omg that is super cute. it would go so well with my winter tops.
But seriously, that's pretty awesome, SS. Everyone on this topic is all kinds of right crafty.

They also use The Tiny a few times, which was a cool band before people started getting into them.
Edit: That knee-jerk reaction brought to you by living in Portland too long. Jesus.
@2mspris
That just seems so weird. Though, since you were on CrackMUX, I don't think you could call yourself a "late bloomer" into online gaming.

Important step:
Make it not look like garbage.
What might be a good idea to circumvent this is to set the wiki pages themselves to be hidden and write them without using standard MediaWiki formatting (like the ** bold and '' italics) since that's generally what makes the +news and +help files look like shit when accessing from the game. This way the wiki pages don't look like shit when accessing through the site (since you wouldn't be able to), and they'd look more coherent on the game.
Though, I'm not entirely certain how often news and help files are accessed through a wiki over a MU*. Another alternative would be to just place a message in the +news/+help commands that says "Go here: <link>." (but more diplomatic than a general imperative.) But that might also be pretty fucking annoying since it goes entirely against western culture's necessity for immediate gratification.
While writing this, I had an idea regarding using raw text on a wiki page that would pull into the MUX rather than wiki formatting, but I'm not entirely certain if MediaWiki would support that. Chances are it does not. And since TinyMUX hasn't been updated to account for this very specific, almost unnecessary convenience, I'm not sure that wiki formatting will be hardcoded into the TinyMUX codebase for some time (outside of TinyMUX not having been updated for two and a half years).
Welp.
@Cobaltasaurus
Mix that with people who haven't learned basic hygiene skills and/or douse themselves in patchouli oil, along with the vague clinging scent of pot smoke, and you've got your average MAX line ride.

Okay, one small annoyance with min/maxers: Going into TPs with them.
As I don't min/max when I go with one, I feel like I'm just wasting my time. The 'monster' is too strong because it has to be a challenge for them. They do all the things because they are maxed out while the rest of us just sit around. That one annoys me a bit.
This. I ran into an issue with a PrP that I was running where someone was able to throw 23-25 dice at something (not using specifics because I don't want to out anyone or anything). The other player involved in the PrP paged me and said something along the lines of "I don't even know what I can do at this point that can't be done by X." I felt really bad and tried to adjust, but the min/max player just walked through all of the challenges. It's frustrating from an ST perspective (in my opinion anyway), since if one person isn't having fun in the group regardless of how large the group is, you've failed.
@Kanye-Qwest I kind of wonder what the assumed outcome of that situation was when he went into it, since it was the girl next door. I mean, there are only so many times and for so many reasons that you need to legit stop by your neighbor's house.
I forgot I gave Gwen our chargen code. I'm glad she got a copy of a workable FATE code, since she had been asking me about it for a while (apparently, according to the email I had registered at WORA that I checked like a month ago).
Also, Thenomain's github has everything (more or less) that a nWoD MU* needs: https://github.com/thenomain
Coventry/Chime's github has updates to anomaly jobs for forum archiving: https://github.com/lashtear/jobs-archive
This is pretty specific, but just because you live in an old town neighborhood that's escaped the rest of the city's gentrification and still manages to have a lot of the old cultural landmarks ("and quirky stores and awesome brewpubs and good music venues and I can't even") does not make you better as a human being. It makes you an asshole for bragging about it.

I took a fantastic class on the Vietnam War at UMass, I learned a lot of elements of it that were outside of traditional media.

You also had a high degree of defection or enemy sympathy with everyone, even Americans (Mao Mao movement) in Vietnam, mercenaries were the only reliable troops for 'heavy point artillery', use of infantry as anti-personnel stage clearance.
The Mao Mao movement was in Kenya and had to do with British colonialism. Sounds like you're a troll, and your credentials are made up.
Also there was a really low defection rate of Americans to North Vietnam during the war. They were - as far as I remember when I read up on Ho Chi Minh's theories and the history of Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam - referred to as "White Congs." Given the Red Scare at home, along with demonization and othering of the Vietnamese, and given that most American servicemen relied on locals to translate/communicate, it would be extremely difficult for even the most steadfast American communist to have insertion into the NVA. To expound a little further on the Red Scare stuff, according to my dad/uncles/thesis advisor that served in Vietnam, they were usually screened pretty heavily on their ideological views following enlistment. AFAIK they didn't attempt to draft any known member of a leftist organization. This isn't to say that someone can't be radicalized while in the military, hell a bunch of my friends were, but it was exceedingly rare based on historical record. As an aside, I'm an anarcho-communist and most of the people mentioned are also left-leaning or have similar views, so the anecdotal stuff may be my personal experience.
Also a brief shout-out: the Mau Mau Movement was right and just and all imperialism is a crime against humanity by its very nature.
@Thenomain
Yeah, I've been in relationships like that. Just be patient with each others' needs.
This has been all filled up! Thank you for the folks who asked.
If you're interested in getting cheap and easy-to-setup wikis for your game projects, use Namecheap. You can grab a domain and their hosting services are really inexpensive (like $20 a year), and they've got a Mediawiki plugin you can install through their control panel.
@silentsophia
I'm in that situation myself, trying to get a new job and all that set back up. It's pretty crazy and hectic. Also, maybe it's just me, but if one thing happens that's unexpected (like car issues or something), it creates like a Charybdis of worry.
What about Dwarf Fortress: The MUSH?
At least then it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to become sickened by miasma, slip on your own vomit, lose your will to keep going on, then go into a prolonged depression followed by homicidal rage.

Wanna break Bread?
A Kropotkin reference on this, our MSB?! I should have talked politics many years ago, it seems.
Also a brief shout-out: the Mau Mau Movement was right and just and all imperialism is a crime against humanity by its very nature.
I have no idea how I ended up with this extremely obscure book in my possession, but if you can get your hands on it, Mau Mau's Daughter has some really great insights into British colonialism & cultural genocide from an intersectional feminist perspective. And yeah, they were badass.
I haven't heard of this, but did a search on it and it sounds fascinating (and extremely expensive). I'm going to see if I can't find it somewhere online. Thanks for the tip! In return, I highly suggest Colonial Metropolis by Jennifer Anne Boittin. She's fairly liberal, but she does seem to have some sympathies for the left. It's largely a dissection of anti-imperialist feminism during the interwar years in Europe, but using several historical case studies.
@Luna
That's all anyone in Portland talks about these days with the recent tech boom. And from what I understand, it's similar in Austin. We tend to have less of the McMansion "problem" here (unless you go up to the west hills as referenced in that Everclear song, or if you're heading into Gresham which is getting a lot of urban renewal), but there's always been a serious issue with people bitching about transplants and how they're "ruining the state of the city." Mostly people from California. Oregonians appear to treat Californians like the entire state conspired to kill their parents or something. The biggest issue that I've found with the PDX metro are our rental properties and the tiny house phenomenon. As an example, I live in an apartment complex that's relatively new. When I mentioned where I lived to someone who was a native, they talked about how there was "a lovely park and a nice restaurant and blah, blah it's all gone because people like YOU live there. I mean you're not even FROM here!" Cities grow. Successful cities grow and change. It's built into human society, folks.
Hey everyone, if anyone is interested, I logged and threw the code class that Cobalt taught up on Fallcoast's wiki here (after removing any staff-sensitive information, since I'm Toska):
http://fallcoast.net/wiki/Code_Teaching_(%2BWho)
Wiki code sucks for formatting, but imagine that there's 38 spaces between the names when they're in columns. Enjoy!
Edit to add: Fixed, just made the bits where columns are into code blocks by adding a space in the formatting. Should be good now!
