I love it when you RP with a handful of new folks, not knowing what to expect, and you riff each other like old timey New Orleans Jazz musicians

None of this is real.
He's been "making" games no one plays for years.
It's part of the Chet Method. We call it trolling.
Edited for spelling.

RE: The Apology Thread
I'm sorry for that one time on Cybersphere where a kid took a bunch of effort into a plot, like months and what not, and I just walked in the room and put a bullet in his head.
And I'm also sorry for that time right after, that I set my tagline to NCSP: We're sorry about your plot.

It seems unusual that to be Christian in America seems to mean to be Conservative so strongly that if someone wanted to identify as a Liberal Christian, I'm not sure what they would say. Nothing, perhaps.
We basically stick up for gay people and point out the hypocrisy of conservative economic policy with Biblical principles. I'm sure you can guess how well that goes.

Marvel: 1963
All,
A little over a week ago I put out a call to folks for help on an idea I had for a new comic mush. With help from amazing folks like @faraday @ixokai and @TNP I'm happy to say we're opening up for beta testing.
Anyone who signs up for a character will be able to keep that character after opening, and some RP will be carried through if all parties are willing. See the theme blurb and the link to the wiki below.
It is a confusing time in the world, both politically and socially. Wars and rumors of wars are fought and hinted at throughout the globe. Fear and paranoia of mutants is tacitly, or sometimes openly acknowledged by those in power. Over the past few years the emergence of costumed vigilantes has caused further stress on a nation and world that seems unfit or unwilling to handle the complex problems they face.
Marvel: 1963 is a roleplaying MUSH set in the Marvel Universe. While not strictly a year-one game, our story takes place in 1963 during the height of the Cold War, the escalation of Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement, and at the beginning of the superhero craze and mutant paranoia. The hallmark of our game is the story telling; we invite players to run plots and want to incorporate the results of those scenes in our overall story arc. Our current focus is on New York City, though we plan to expand as our playerbase grows.
Players are not limited to Marvel's roster from the early 60s, but are able to pick the nearly limitless options from their entire catalog of characters with adaptations to make them fit in the generation that changed the world forever.

RE: Downvotes
At the risk of sounding dumb, who cares if you get downvoted? Does that mean you don't get to level up or something?

RE: I miss
@Sunny Me too in a way. I dont know why but it sapped my energy for rp. Thought about him the other day and realized how much fun he made things.

@Royal I should probably stop down voting all my posts if I ever wanna get that pony I have my eye on.

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
@Seraphim73 I think we're pretty confident that this will work, at least according to our own vision of success. Folks were skeptical of Marvel 1963 and we have been able to outdo our wildest expectations. If we fail, we fail, but among our Comic Book Nerd Games there seemed to be a big market (for me, a big market is 30-50 log ins), so it'll be what it'll be. But I guarantee we're all going to have fun while we figure out whatever it becomes.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
@Ghost One recommendation I would have (I had a hand in creating HeroMux, CoMux, and Marvel: 1963) is to really set out what goals you need to hit to be successful. When we made HeroMux we wanted a large player base and made decisions to focus on that.
When we made M63 we realized right away that it would be likely, because of the setting, we would end up as a niche game. This time around we haven't been obsessed with numbers and are more interested in quality and it's been better for us.
My question for you (apologize if this has been covered) is this: recognizing that most people come to comic games to play chars they want to play, what are your expectations for the size of your game?
I think if you make that decision in the right way, that will guide you during the tough times.

RE: Searching for Star Wars RPI
From the Punky Brewsters who brought you Marvel: 1963, we're making a Star Wars game.
Rhost
Fate
Post New Hope (like, a couple of weeks after)
Some simple changes to make Dark and Light side chars more appable (and middle types too)
Focusing mostly on one planet (although RP can be anywhere) in order to build Ic bondsGrid is complete and Chargen's first run through is going strong. We have a ways to go before we go Beta, but we'll keep the interested informed.
I would tell you the address, but we're not there yet.

@Tempest said in Star Wars: Insurgency:
I have no idea who Luke is, but if we're going to be honest, There's pretty good odds the player will A) wind up squatting, barely being active, and TSing Mara Jade, or B) be an attention whore who makes the whole game all about him.
I have a few comments in regards to this, since it's an attack on me.
- Who Luke is: It's me. I mentioned that, but it was earlier. The line of demarcation on the obsession with that particular FC seems to those who don't know me and also know I will do a terrible job and the other side of those who know me, don't seem to like FCs on Star Wars games, but at least believe me to be not quite a big enough dillhole to be concerned about it.
- I'd be happy to go through my logs with anyone in defense of my activity.
- Can't TS Mara Jade. She won't despite all my wiles...whiles...wh...attempts.
- An Attention Whore: I think almost everyone who plays these games likes attention. I'm certainly no different. I would say, however, that my long track record of running large events on Universe Unlimited, HeroMux, CoMux, and Marvel 1963 has at least shown that I am willing to share the love. With the game as a whole. And sometimes most of it all at once.
In addition to being all of these things that lead to the surefire pitfalls before this game (also a clown, jerk, a-hole, and everything else anyone says on here) I'm also one of those people who gets motivated when people try and knock me or something I care about down.
So keep it comin, I'll be over here squattin' and enjoying the attention!

RE: Cybersphere Nostalgia Thread
I used to love that game with every fiber of my being. A year or so I went back and it was just a shell of itself....so sad. I even got offered a million cred to make something happen by an oldbie friend of mine, and I just yawned and erased it from my client.

Marvel: 1963 (Lookin for a Coder)
Hey guys,
I've spent about 9 months away from staffing at games and I've started to get that itch again. After some false starts and some careful consideration, I'm going to get back into that sort of work, since I miss it a lot.
I want to start a period piece Marvel game that starts in the 1960s. To me the idea of doing something in a different time period will maybe give a different flavor than the other superhero games out there, and that particular time period has always struck me as the perfect mixture politically, socially, and militarily for a game.
I'm looking for a coder to help out. If you're someone who likes to do such things, my needs are pretty simple. What I can offer is one of two things: Either a seat on staff or if you'd rather just build and go, perhaps a one time payment for set-up and the ability to come and ask you questions if and when the need arises. I would not need a coded stats system.
What I would need:
- Character Generation
- A system that allows us to set fields for +finger, powers, skills, advantages, and flaws
- Event and logging code (which could just be copied from the same ones all the games use)
If that's something that you'd be interested in, please message me here so we can shoot the breeze. If you would want to know who it is you'd be getting into bed with, please take a look at my playlist that I posted a month or so back. I have a set of news files that's pretty much done so the amount of time to take to get going would not be a big one. I'm open to using any system, more simple the better. I do really like Volund's system. If you don't know about it, you should check it out.
Thanks!
