@fatefan Well, there wouldn't be coded combat. So, in that respect it will be similar to the other comic games that are out there. I realize this is going to be a major turnoff for many of the people looking for something fresh in this genre. I was following the recent call to arms about what a new superhero game would need, and most people who were talking about what they needed to get involved discussed the need for coded stats or combat. Others discussed wanting an all OC game.
I don't doubt those are good ideas, but I think for those of us who stick to comic games exclusively a major draw is the ability to play FCs. That brings up another can of worms: coded combat means a rush for high powered characters and a lot of overhead for creating static apps for characters. I've seen some games with stat systems and they usually were thought of as novelties, but eventually people sort of got bored with it, and came back to statless games.
This is a real long response to something that may not have been yoru question.

@darksabrz Hey dude. I've run quite a few events and plots over the years at several superhero games (Universe Unlimited, HeroMux, CoMux). I think my stories used to be a lot better, to be honest, mostly because I did fewer of them and I put lots and lots of time into thinking them up. That being said, I'll share with you what I shared with others.
-The number one piece of advice I can give is to make sure you think out your 'theme' and make sure you develop your piece of humanity. Whether it's Star Wars, Transformers, or some Furry mux, the reason people like stories (in any form) is because they say something human about our world. You need to find out what you want to say and build your story around that idea.

You have a limited time to keep people's interest. Past three hours, people start watching tv, getting into other scenes, or watching television. When people start doing that, their poses take longer. When their poses take longer, then everyone else gets bored, and a good story can spoil pretty quickly. To combat this, I allow people 8-10 minutes in between poses.

Because Muxers are a notoriously fickle lot, I always set my scenes up as making sure that I don't require any single player to make sure the scene can happen. Chances are, if you need someone really badly, their car will explode on the way home from getting dinner.

The illusion of danger is really important. I don't play any games with stats, so this is only for comic games, but that particular subset of players absolutely hates anything bad happening to their character ever. What I tend to do is to harp on the illusion of danger more than actual danger.

Which characters would you put on that list? Back when I staffed on HeroMux, I believe we went with Cap, Iron Man, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Nightwing, Wolverine. The criteria for us was fluid and confusing, and somewhere in between importance to the sphere and popularity.

@Lithium Finally got a chance to read all of this. There was a time I would have agreed with you, but the bigger comic book games have had a lot of great (and powerful, since that seems important to you) original characters. Anyone who has played at HeroMux or CoMux knows the impact characters like Shift, Lunair, and Melody Kenway would have. I think that people are much more likely to give OCs a chance nowadays. Now, that being said, if you're obsessed by how powerful you can make a character, that's usually a red flag to a comicbook player. Most of us have sat through scenes where folks want to slobber all over the scene simply because some uber powerful character was available when they signed on. For OCs, mot of the time, the characters have been pretty formulaic or boring. Nowadays though, folks like I mentioned earlier have really begun to buck the system and change minds.
The more I read about these games, I just think us comic kids are a different breed.

@ThatGuyThere I would agree with that, but to me it seems temporary. I mean, if you app Batman, and you're not a very good Batman, your opportunities dwindle. If you're Paul Manning, it doesn't take very long for people to know you're a good scene. Maybe I'm myopically optimistic, but it seems mostly merit based to me.

I was pissed when we picked staff names on CoMux. I wanted to go with Disney chars because I was known as Aladdin to all of my friends, but I was out voted about 137 to one. They wanted to go with drinks and I was going to go with Water. But then someone offered that we should do math because everyone hates math and it would be sort of a dark joke (I hope it was my idea, but I don't remember). Since I'd just gone on one of my huge soapbox speeches, Tangent was an easy fit.

@bored Let's add some fun to this and make a wager. Everyday from now until the end of time, you can refer to this game as one of the 73 games that have tried this and failed, up until at whenever, if ever, a time it becomes a success by some mutually negotiated user-count, longevity, number of scenes sort of metric. At that point, if ever, you would need to start a new thread about how you were wrong and there were only 72, but Insurgency was the exception that proved the rule, and I get to follow you around every so often and lightly troll you.
I'm a bettin man, so whaddya say?
